“Let go of me…”

At the sound of fabric tearing, Lin Wanfu felt a chill against her chest.

Instinctively, she raised her hands—still bound with a tie—to cover herself and kicked at Shen Congyan as he leaned over her.Full novel: After the Villainess Goes Bankrupt, They All Want to Bully Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But against an adult man, her strength was no more than a kitten’s feeble scratching.

It posed no threat at all.

Shen Congyan caught Lin Wanfu’s ankle with ease and pinned her to the sofa. His cool hand slid slowly up from her ankle, caressing her as it went.

Lin Wanfu froze for a moment, then began struggling fiercely.

“Shen Congyan, let go! Release me! I hate you, you rabid dog! You’ll pay for treating me like this. Just you wait—I’ll chop you to pieces and feed you to the dogs!”

A pampered young lady who had grown up surrounded by people who loved her and were always eager to protect her had never had much to worry about beyond what to eat, what to wear, or what style of jewelry to put on.

So she wasn’t even good at cursing. She just kept repeating the same few insults.

“Eldest Miss, is this really all it takes to break you?”

Shen Congyan pressed closer to Lin Wanfu, growing more brazen by the moment. He was so near that he could kiss her with the slightest dip of his head. His voice was full of malice. “Didn’t you used to want to go out and try your luck with other men? I’ll give you what you want. I promise I’ll make you feel so good you’ll die.”

“Are you sick?”

Lin Wanfu glared furiously at Shen Congyan.

She didn’t object to sex between men and women, but that didn’t mean she liked being forced in front of an audience.

“Why are you reacting so strongly? Could it be that Shen Huaijin hasn’t touched you in all these three years?”

Shen Congyan looked down at Lin Wanfu, his gaze fixed on her. Emotions too deep and complicated to name churned in his dark eyes, which seemed even darker than the night outside the window.

Shen Huaijin was a consummate hypocrite.

After more than twenty years of fighting against Shen Huaijin, Shen Congyan knew all too well how devious and treacherous he was.

But no one would believe it.

Shen Huaijin was a master of disguise. In public, he always seemed flawless, smiling warmly at everyone.

The only time Shen Congyan had ever seen Shen Huaijin lose his composure was at Shen Congyan and Lin Wanfu’s engagement banquet.

When they were teenagers, he had realized that Shen Huaijin had fallen for someone—and that he was in love with her from afar.

That someone was none other than Lin Wanfu.

There was no denying it: at first, he had approached Lin Wanfu and gotten engaged to her purely to get back at Shen Huaijin.

That woman had come between his parents and borne an illegitimate son who was a year older than him. So how could it not be satisfying to take the person her son most wanted—the one he dreamed of having?

What he hadn’t counted on, despite all his careful calculations, was that he would fall in love with Lin Wanfu himself, becoming deeply attached to her.

While Shen Congyan was distracted, Lin Wanfu sank her teeth into his chin and sneered, “You really are a pathetic bastard. Shen Huaijin and I schemed against you like that, and you’re still hung up on whether I slept with him. What, do you still have feelings for me?”

Reason told her that this wasn’t the time to provoke Shen Congyan. But she couldn’t hold back.

Shen Congyan had been the one who kept pursuing her against her wishes. What was wrong with her trying to call off the engagement?

If he’d let her set him up, that was his own fault!

“Lin Wanfu, don’t flatter yourself. A vicious woman like you is worthless to me. I’m only interested in your body.”

Shen Congyan paid no attention to the tooth marks on his chin, where blood was beginning to seep through. He seized Lin Wanfu’s wrist and raised it above her head, gazing down at her from his superior position.

“You were willing to sleep with an illegitimate son. Is fifty million really too much to ask for one night with me?”

He slowly lowered his head, his cold lips brushing the curve of Lin Wanfu’s ear. His sinister voice sounded like a demon whispering. “If you make me happy, I might consider letting you keep being the Eldest Miss of the Lin family. How does that sound?”

“Stop dreaming!”

A trace of anger colored Lin Wanfu’s delicate features as she thought to herself:

She had no idea what the hell Shen Congyan had been through abroad, but his way of speaking had become especially crude and explicit. There was no trace left of the restraint and propriety he’d shown three years ago.

Shen Congyan suddenly let out a low laugh. Then he released Lin Wanfu’s wrist and slowly straightened up.

“I didn’t know the Eldest Miss Lin had such a backbone. I’ve changed my mind. There’s no fun in forcing you. I’ll wait until you beg me to.”

He picked up the suit jacket he had tossed aside, slipped it on with practiced ease, and smoothed the fine creases at the cuffs.

Lin Wanfu was trembling with anger, and a note of defiance crept into her voice.

“Shen Congyan, who do you think you are? There are plenty of powerful people in Jinghai City. Even if I’m desperate enough to ask someone for help, I don’t have to come to you!”

At that, Shen Congyan’s eyes darkened.

He gripped the back of Lin Wanfu’s neck and looked at her like a demon from the abyss. “I almost forgot that the Eldest Miss Lin has a face that can beguile anyone. All you have to do is crook a finger, and countless men will be eager to do your bidding.”

“But let me make this clear: as long as I’m around, if anyone dares to help you, I’ll cut him down.”

“You…” Lin Wanfu hadn’t expected Shen Congyan to be so reckless. He was practically a law unto himself.

“By the way, Eldest Miss Lin, I’ve prepared a special gift for you. Enjoy it.”

Shen Congyan tossed out the words coldly, then turned and left the Lin residence without looking back.

The group of bodyguards in black exchanged glances.

Their boss had arrived in a fury, looking ready to devour Father Lin and his daughter alive. Yet he’d done nothing at all—and left with both a slap mark and a bite mark on his face?

They were full of questions, but none of the bodyguards dared to ask. Their boss surely had his reasons.

Before long, the bodyguards filed out after him.

Finally free, Father Lin all but scrambled over to Lin Wanfu. He quickly untied the tie binding her hands, then took off his own jacket and, with trembling hands, helped her put it on. His voice caught as he said, “Fufu, I’m sorry. I wasn’t strong enough. I couldn’t protect you.”

“Dad, it’s not your fault. Shen Congyan’s just a rabid dog biting whoever he wants. One day, I’ll make him pay for what he did today!”

Lin Wanfu looked at Father Lin, whose face had grown increasingly haggard. Her hands clenched on her knees, and a flash of feral cruelty crossed her eyes.

She had never suffered such humiliation in her life. She wouldn’t be able to swallow this until Shen Congyan was finished.

Father Lin said with concern, “I don’t know where Shen Congyan found those talented people, but they keep coming up with high-tech products no one’s ever seen on the market before, making him a fortune. With his status and power now, you can count on one hand the people in Jinghai City who dare to cross him.”

“Dad, Shen Huaijin must have heard the news by now. He’s on his way back to the country.”

A calculating glint appeared in Lin Wanfu’s eyes.

Shen Huaijin had been abroad visiting other countries for work, and hadn’t been in the country.

Once Shen Huaijin returned, there might still be a way out of the predicament facing the Lin family.

She and Shen Huaijin were in the same boat. Whatever his reasons, he would step in to protect her.

Seeing at once that Lin Wanfu intended to use one brother against the other, Father Lin shook his head gently. “Fufu, neither of the Shen brothers is any good. They’re both as vicious as wolves and tigers. Don’t get entangled with them again. Let me find a way to send you abroad, all right?”

He knew his Fufu was clever, but she was still too green. She couldn’t possibly outplay Shen Congyan and Shen Huaijin.

If she kept tangled up with them, sooner or later they would devour her until not even her bones were left.

“I’ll think about it.”

Lin Wanfu rose and went upstairs.

Father Lin followed her, intending to try to persuade her a little more, but Lin Wanfu simply shut the door in his face.

The room was unlit and somewhat dim.

Lin Wanfu sat down at her vanity, then opened an exquisite jewelry box and took out an emerald necklace, clasping it in her palm.

No one knew who her mother was—not even her Dad.

According to Dad, someone had brought her to the Lin residence when she was just over a month old. There had been nothing on her to prove her identity; she had worn only this necklace.

Her grandfather, who had since passed away, had thought she looked very much like Dad. He had insisted on a paternity test, which confirmed that she was Dad’s biological daughter.

When she was little, she often asked Dad who her mother was. He could never answer. He’d been a womanizer when he was young and couldn’t remember which woman he’d had her with.

“Mom, they’re all bullying me.” Lin Wanfu’s tears fell one after another onto the emerald. “I hate every one of them.”

She wasn’t a crybaby.

But when she thought of all the grievances she’d suffered, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
