“Want another bite?” Shen Huaijin picked up a piece of milky-white coconut milk jelly. For some reason, he inexplicably enjoyed feeding Lin Wanfu.

Lin Wanfu tilted her head slightly, avoiding the food Shen Huaijin had brought to her lips. Her attitude had cooled noticeably.

“Fufu, you’ve misunderstood me. I just noticed Uncle didn’t look well, as if he hadn’t been resting properly these past few days, so I gave him a bowl of nourishing soup to help him sleep.”

Shen Huaijin’s expression showed no sign of anything unusual, but a faint shadow of loneliness dimmed his eyes, clearly upset by Lin Wanfu’s lack of trust.

Lin Wanfu’s mood shifted as quickly as flipping a page. She gently took Shen Huaijin’s hand and looked at him with an innocent expression. “Brother Ajin, I’m sorry. I misunderstood you.”

“It’s alright.” Shen Huaijin lowered his gaze briefly before smiling gently again, as if he were born without a temper.

Noticing the coconut milk jelly in Shen Huaijin’s hand, Lin Wanfu suddenly had an idea.

She tilted her head and looked at him, a hint of temptation in her eyes. “Brother Ajin, you’ve been feeding me all this time without eating anything yourself. Aren’t you hungry?”

System 0573 had said that seizing affection had no fixed rules—any emotional bond or physical contact counted.

Emotional bonds were elusive and hard to grasp, so she could only start with physical contact.

Not long ago, she had tried hugging Shen Huaijin, but System 0573 showed no reaction at all, which meant the energy collected from just a hug wasn’t enough.

Shen Huaijin stared intently at Lin Wanfu, his gaze piercing. “Don’t worry about me. I’m not hungry.”

How could he not be hungry?

What he wanted most was right before him, just a slight bow of his head away, yet he still restrained himself.

He absolutely refused to let that despicable side of himself be exposed in front of her, ruining the gentle older brother image he had carefully cultivated for years.

“But I insist on worrying about you.” As if born to defy, Lin Wanfu took the piece of coconut milk jelly from Shen Huaijin’s hand and held it between her own lips.

Then, she grabbed his tie, pulling him toward her, leaning close to his tightly pressed lips.

If a hug wasn’t enough, what about a kiss?

Her delicate, flower-like face grew larger and larger in Shen Huaijin’s pupils, and he froze completely.

She had taken the initiative to kiss him—was he dreaming?

Before he could react, Shen Huaijin felt something being pushed into his mouth.

A sweet taste spread through his mouth.

Desire darkened Shen Huaijin’s eyes. Unable to help himself, he reached out and cupped the back of Lin Wanfu’s head, taking control and capturing her moist, tempting red lips in a deep kiss.

It was as if a switch had been flipped. His kiss grew increasingly fervent, starting as a gentle touch before turning into an entangled dance of lips and teeth, inseparable and intense.

An unfamiliar tide gradually overwhelmed reason.

Lin Wanfu felt dizzy from Shen Huaijin’s kiss and instinctively pushed against him.

However, her hand was caught by Shen Huaijin, who pressed it against the chair, their fingers interlocked.

After what felt like an eternity, Shen Huaijin finally released Lin Wanfu. He held her gently. “It’s my fault. I lost control. I’m sorry.”Before Lin Wanfu could even get angry, he was already apologizing to her with a face full of guilt, as if he hadn’t been the one who had lost control and nearly kissed her breathless moments ago.

But Lin Wanfu wasn’t so easily fooled. She was an expert at taking advantage of favor and pushing her luck. “Hmph, I’m really angry right now. You’d better figure out a way to make me happy.”

“Do you like this jewelry set?” Shen Huaijin clearly understood Lin Wanfu’s temperament all too well. He produced a red velvet gift box from somewhere.

As the box opened,

the natural diamonds on the necklace and bracelet shimmered with dazzling brilliance, instantly conveying their immense value.

No woman could resist the allure of jewelry, especially pieces that were both beautiful and expensive.

“How did you know I liked this?”

Lin Wanfu picked up the necklace from the box, its main body studded with dozens of sparkling diamonds, and toyed with it in her hand. She had long had her eye on this auction item, but the sudden misfortune that befell the Lin family had left her in no mood to attend any auction.

She never expected that Shen Huaijin, amidst his busy work, would still pay attention to the jewelry she liked.

She remembered that the starting bid for this jewelry set at the auction was eighty million, and the final price would likely be at least three hundred million.

“A while ago, I saw you posted about it on your social media,” Shen Huaijin said. He loved keeping up with everything about Lin Wanfu and naturally never missed any of her updates.

Lin Wanfu smiled playfully. “Brother Ah Jin, so you actually scroll through social media too? I thought CEOs like you had nothing but work on their minds.”

“I only scroll through yours.”

Shen Huaijin gazed at Lin Wanfu, his eyes gentle, a mesmerizing smile curling at the corners of his lips.

What he didn’t say was that his mind wasn’t filled with work either—it was filled with her.

Suddenly, Lin Wanfu lost interest and tossed the necklace aside. A flicker of melancholy passed through her eyes, her lips drooping slightly as she wore a troubled, sorrowful expression.

“You’re so good. I wish it had been you I was engaged to from the start.”

“It’s not too late now,” Shen Huaijin hinted almost explicitly, his eyes brimming with unconcealed joy and anticipation.

But Lin Wanfu replied guiltily, “It is too late, Brother Ah Jin. When I kissed you just now, Shen Congyan’s face—that awful guy—popped into my mind. I don’t even know when I started liking him.”

Hearing Lin Wanfu say she liked Shen Congyan, Shen Huaijin’s mood instantly plummeted to rock bottom, and his heart ached with an unbearable pang.

“Suddenly, I feel like I’ve treated you so badly,” Lin Wanfu said, her gaze toward Shen Huaijin tinged with even more shame.

Even though Shen Huaijin was nearly driven mad with jealousy, his expression remained unchanged. “Fufu, I don’t blame you. But someone like Shen Congyan, who completely disregards your feelings, doesn’t deserve your affection.”

“But—”

Before Lin Wanfu could continue, Shen Huaijin spoke again. “Besides, after what we did to him three years ago, do you really think he could still like you?”

Lin Wanfu looked distressed. “I regret it. If I hadn’t been so spiteful and framed Shen Congyan three years ago, causing him to be driven out of the Shen family, he wouldn’t have come back just to take revenge on me.”

Regret was the last thing she truly felt. She simply wanted to deepen the conflict between Shen Huaijin and Shen Congyan.

It would be far more entertaining to watch two mad dogs tear each other apart.Shen Huaijin forcefully suppressed the violent impulses within him. He grasped Lin Wanfu’s hand, “Fufu, we are already standing on the opposite side of Shen Congyan. It’s destined that we cannot coexist peacefully. If you like him, there can be no good outcome.”

Perhaps his previous methods of dealing with Shen Congyan were still too gentle; he should have crushed him to dust.

As long as Shen Congyan completely disappears from this world, he would no longer have to worry about Lin Wanfu being taken away by him.

“Brother Ajin, I understand the reasoning you’re saying, but I just can’t help wanting to see him.” Lin Wanfu looked at Shen Huaijin with pleading eyes. “I heard he will attend the Su family’s birthday banquet tonight. Can you take me there?”

Shen Huaijin instinctively wanted to refuse.

But then it occurred to him that taking Lin Wanfu to the banquet could very well be an opportunity to strike a blow against Shen Congyan.
