The partition suddenly descended.

Shen Congyan looked at the bewildered driver and coldly uttered two words, “Stop the car.”

Time and again, he had built steps for Lin Wanfu to descend gracefully, yet each time she mercilessly kicked them away.Full novel: After the Villainess Went Bankrupt, Everyone Wanted to Bully Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Even a clay figure has its temper, let alone him.

Since she didn’t want his love, she could bear his hatred.

“Shen Congyan, what’s wrong with you now?” Lin Wanfu clearly hadn’t grasped the situation.

Shen Congyan opened the car door, his expression indifferent. “Get out of my car. Now. Immediately.”

Lin Wanfu stared at Shen Congyan in disbelief. “You’re going to leave me alone in this desolate wilderness? Shen Congyan, I’m so beautiful—aren’t you afraid I might encounter some bad person and meet with misfortune?”

The highway was surrounded by dense woods, with very few passing vehicles, let alone pedestrians.

Shen Congyan merely curled his lips into a cold smile. “Miss Lin, what is our relationship? What obligation do I have to care whether you meet with misfortune in the wilderness?”

Hearing this, Lin Wanfu’s temper flared as well.

Gritting her teeth, she said, “Fine, I’ll get out. From now on, even if you beg me to get in your car, I won’t!”

Stomping out of the car in a huff, Lin Wanfu looked at the deserted road and couldn’t help turning back to glance at Shen Congyan.

The man sat unmoving in the back seat. The cuffs of his black shirt were slightly rolled up, revealing arms with well-defined muscles and a powerful build. His sharp, angular profile was half-hidden in shadow, his brow bone strong, his jaw lean. His long legs were crossed naturally, exuding the poise and charm of a mature man.

“I’m really leaving,” Lin Wanfu bit her lip.

Without even glancing at her, Shen Congyan heartlessly pulled the car door shut.

Watching Shen Congyan’s car drive away, Lin Wanfu angrily kicked a small stone by the roadside.

Standing there sulking for a while, she took out her phone, downloaded a ride-hailing app, and tried to book a car.

Unfortunately.

Due to the remote location, no one accepted the request.

As she waited endlessly for a car, Lin Wanfu sat by the roadside and cursed Shen Congyan’s ancestors for eighteen generations.

She had been brushing up online lately, and her vocabulary of insults was now extensive enough to avoid repetition.

Just then, a car stopped in front of Lin Wanfu. A kindly middle-aged driver greeted her, “Young lady, are you waiting for a ride? There aren’t many cars here—you probably won’t get one. How about I give you a lift?”

Lin Wanfu looked at the well-meaning driver and immediately grew wary, though she didn’t show it.

“Thank you, uncle, but no need. I’ve already sent my location to my boyfriend—he’ll be here soon.”

“Alright then, take care,” the driver said awkwardly, starting the car’s engine.

When he reached a bend in the road, the driver got out and approached a black luxury car, trembling as he spoke. “Mr. Shen, Miss Lin doesn’t trust me.”

“Hmm,” Shen Congyan responded coldly, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. “Prepare a car for Lin Shuyan and have him come pick up his daughter.”

“Yes, Mr. Shen…”

The driver wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

Honestly, he truly couldn’t understand what his boss was trying to do—first kicking Miss Lin out of the car, then arranging for him to pretend to pass by and offer her a ride.Even so, the boss still wasn’t at ease and personally stayed nearby, probably worried that Miss Lin might encounter some danger.

Ten minutes later, Shen Congyan saw through the drone’s live feed that Lin Wanfu had gotten into Lin’s Father’s car. Only then did he lift his gaze and instruct the driver in the front, “Head to the Su family.”

With that, he slowly closed his eyes, leaning back in the seat to rest.

Sitting in the car, Lin Wanfu changed into the knitted sweater jacket her father had brought. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the suit jacket thrown on the floor of the car, and angrily stomped on it.

Before long, the suit jacket was trampled beyond recognition, but Lin Wanfu still hadn’t vented her anger.

She complained indignantly, “Dad, don’t you think Shen Congyan is out of his mind? First, he abducts me into his car, then inexplicably dumps me in the middle of nowhere!”

Lin’s Father had been quite the ladies’ man in his youth. How could he not see that Shen Congyan’s actions were clearly just throwing a tantrum with Lin Wanfu?

But Lin’s Father had an extremely poor impression of Shen Congyan.

Shen Congyan’s thuggish behavior yesterday made Lin’s Father believe deep down that he was nothing but a little beast. Naturally, he couldn’t possibly agree to his daughter being with him.

Thus, not only did Lin’s Father not point it out, but he also spoke earnestly, “Fufu, a man as emotionally unstable as Shen Congyan is the least suitable to be a partner. Who knows when he might lose his temper and turn violent toward you? You mustn’t like such a man, understand?”

Lin Wanfu wholeheartedly agreed.

“Dad, you’re right. Of course, I could never like a dog of a man like Shen Congyan.”

“Fufu is such a good girl.” Lin’s Father smiled gently.

As if suddenly remembering something, Lin Wanfu took out her phone and checked the message Shen Huaijin had sent.

“Dad, just drive straight to the Shen family. Shen Huaijin is back, and he’s waiting for me there,” she said.

At the moment, she and her father didn’t even have a place to stay, and they didn’t have much money on them. Therefore, they could only rent a cheap little place in the dirty, chaotic suburbs.

That was definitely not an option—she couldn’t endure such hardship.

Lin’s Father tightened his grip on the steering wheel and tactfully reminded Lin Wanfu, “Fufu, Shen Huaijin isn’t some philanthropist either. If you want to gain something from him, he’ll also want to gain something from you.”

As for what kind of gain a man might seek from a woman, it goes without saying.

“Dad, don’t worry. Between Shen Huaijin and me, it’s not certain who will end up taking advantage of whom.”

Lin Wanfu twirled a strand of dark hair around her finger. Perhaps inheriting her father’s youthful, carefree charm in the romantic scene, she didn’t place much importance on the pleasures between men and women.

As long as someone’s looks caught her eye, she didn’t care what name the person who brought her pleasure went by.

“I’m just afraid you might get in too deep and find it hard to pull yourself out.”

Lin’s Father sighed softly. He had collaborated with Shen Huaijin on several business ventures before.

Undeniably, Shen Huaijin was an exceptional family heir—smart, decisive, and outstanding in ability, standing out among his peers. Apart from a slight flaw in his background, he was second to none in every aspect.

But after several observations, he noticed that Shen Huaijin had a rather extreme personality and employed exceptionally ruthless tactics against his competitors. Those who crossed him rarely ended up well.

“Then it’s a matter of whose skills are superior. If I’m outmatched, I’ll accept my fate.”Lin Wanfu understood Shen Huaijin’s character better than Lin’s Father did. Of course, she wouldn’t underestimate him, but she didn’t believe that, knowing the plot, she couldn’t outplay him.

Moreover, although System 0573 had remained inactive, its automatic identity recognition function was still intact. She suspected it had likely run out of energy.

She wanted to test whether interacting with Shen Huaijin could restore some of System 0573’s energy.

Lin’s Father said, “But have you considered that if you get entangled with Shen Huaijin, will Shen Congyan let you off?”

Lin Wanfu replied, “Dad, I have my own plans. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”

If she accidentally went too far, at worst, she could lower her head and apologize to Shen Congyan, saying some sweet words to coax him.

She knew that Shen Congyan was always easier to placate than anyone else—a little sweetness would make him forget the slap.

Yet, in the original plot, she had stubbornly stuck to her path, never once thinking of trying to coax Shen Congyan.

Having said all this, Lin Wanfu still insisted on going her own way. Lin’s Father knew further persuasion was futile. With a heavy heart, he drove the car toward the Shen family’s residence.
