Under the night sky, an abandoned warehouse stood quietly in the suburbs, deathly still like a graveyard.

The warehouse was piled with all sorts of cluttered discarded goods. Whenever someone passed through, clouds of dust would rise, leaving footprints behind. The roof was full of small holes, allowing moonlight to seep through the cracks.

Footsteps echoed in the silent darkness. Su Meng walked leisurely, moonlight bathing her figure as dust danced around her. Her posture was lazy, as if strolling through the center of a banquet hall. In her hand was a pilfered pomegranate, from which she tossed red seeds into her mouth, savoring the sweet juice.Full novel: After the White Moonlight Dies, the Sickly Yandere Boss Relentlessly Pursues — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Her eyes curved with pleasure. Finally, she stopped before a raised pile of goods and pulled aside the covering cloth.

A burly man lay there in a pitiful state, his large frame desperately curled into a small corner as if trying to diminish his presence. One arm and one leg hung limply on the ground, appearing both ridiculous and pathetic. When he lifted his head and saw Su Meng, his reaction was more exaggerated than if he had seen a ghost.

“P-please… let me go. I’ve already told you where we hid that kidnapped child,” he rasped.

The scene resembled a lamb hunting its butcher.

“Were you playing hide-and-seek with me? I followed the rules, but you… don’t seem very satisfied,” Su Meng spoke, pausing as her gaze fell to the ground—to the footprints the man had left in the dust and the obvious claw marks imprinted on the cloth.

The smile in her eyes faded as she licked her lips.

“You know, foolish people don’t live long.”

The man’s pupils dilated at her words, followed immediately by the bang of a gunshot.

666 shuddered beside them.

Su Meng covered her mouth and coughed lightly, an unnatural sickly flush appearing on her cheeks. The taste of blood spread in her mouth, and her heart ached with uncomfortable spasms. She frowned.

[Six-Six, my body is so weak,] she mumbled in a soft, sticky voice, like a harmless young girl.

[…] 666 trembled at the nickname “Six-Six.” Had it not witnessed its host’s ferocity, it might have believed her. Someone who coughed up blood every few steps had just taken out several desperadoes—how utterly weak and helpless indeed…

Su Meng took a moment to continue reading the general content and story nodes sent by 666.

Ji Weichen—the major antagonist in his story background.

His mother, Shang Wei, married into the prestigious Ji family for love, wedding Ji’s Father. Initially, the couple was affectionate, but as she became pregnant, her beauty gradually faded, and her figure grew plump. Ji’s Father, tempted by beautiful women outside, changed his heart and directly offered her a check to leave him. Shang Wei refused it and left with the child in her womb.

A poor, beautiful woman with a child—the outcome was predictable. The strange looks from those around her and the hardships of life crushed her. She sank into resentment, shedding her gentle facade as her mental state deteriorated, transforming into a hysterical version of herself. She vented all the sources of her suffering and rage onto her child.

She believed he had ruined her happy life—that without his arrival, she would still be loved by Ji’s Father. She even thought that if this child disappeared, Ji’s Father would return to how he was before. She wanted to kill her own child but failed, ultimately leaving a permanently hideous knife scar on five-year-old Ji Weichen’s chest.

Far away in the Upper Capital, Ji’s Father, unwilling to leave stains on his life, saw his mentally unstable ex-wife and Ji Weichen as his shameful blemishes. Thus, he colluded with the wealthy Qin Family of Jade City, secretly manipulating matters to worsen the mental illness of Ji Weichen’s mother, Shang Wei, leading to her suicide.

Ji Weichen, who was originally meant to be eliminated root and branch, was secretly kept by the Qin Family and taken in as a lodger in their home—though their motives were far from pure. The Qin Family head had inadvertently discovered something: Ji’s mother was likely the long-lost only daughter of Jian Shi, the wealthiest man in the Upper Capital, and the sole heir to his estate. With Ji’s mother dead, the inheritance under Jian Shi’s name would unquestionably pass to Ji Weichen.

To lay claim to this fortune, the Qin Family head decided to keep him, arranging for him to stay by his daughter’s side.

The Qin Family head’s daughter, Qin Meng, had been frail and sickly since childhood, suffering from congenital heart disease that required constant financial and medicinal support to sustain her life. Prolonged illness had twisted her personality, filling her with resentment and envy toward those in good health. As a result, she particularly targeted Ji Weichen, subjecting him to all sorts of hardships and torment. In the most severe instance, Ji Weichen nearly ended up permanently disabled in both legs.

The current situation is this: during a banquet, a group of vicious kidnappers broke in and abducted several wealthy children present. Ji Weichen was implicated by Qin Meng and taken along in the kidnapping.

In this kidnapping incident, everyone died except Ji Weichen, who managed a difficult escape but paid a steep price—he lost one of his eyes.

All clues and background information end here.

666 glanced at Su Meng but remained silent. The storylines and clues it provided were very rough and only pertained to the present, offering little help. It hadn’t even given Su Meng the memories of this body, hoping she would back down from the challenge.

[Let me guess, I’m now this Qin Meng.] Su Meng spoke, tossing a handful of bright red pomegranate seeds into her mouth, a careless smile in her eyes.

[Well… Host, if you find this too difficult, you can choose to unbind from me. If you want to be reborn, I can help you apply to bind with another system and take on simpler tasks.]

[After all, look at this situation—it’s a guaranteed death scenario. At this stage, Ji Weichen already knows everything.] 666 spoke nervously from the side. Indeed, it had deliberately chosen this identity as a death-start setup.

He knew: she was the daughter of the enemy who caused his mother’s death, someone who coveted and schemed to squeeze every last drop of benefit from him, a malicious girl who tormented and harassed him daily, a blade perpetually hanging over his neck, ready to kill him at any moment.

Given Ji Weichen’s nature, it was a fight to the death—he would seize any opportunity to eliminate her.

[Not at all, I’m quite satisfied.] Su Meng replied.

Hearing her words, 666 was taken aback. It studied Su Meng, unable to discern whether her satisfaction was genuine or feigned. All it knew was that its little scheme had fallen through.

It sighed.

[Host, then please remember: you don’t need to alter his original fate. You only need to change his heart full of hatred, make him repay kindness for malice, and become gentle, kind, and harmless. You must not change the storyline, or it could lead to severe consequences. Your mission may fail, and you could die!]666 spoke up from the side. It didn’t know what would happen if the storyline became completely distorted, but this item was highlighted in bright red as the top priority in its system guidelines.

[“They want people to endure suffering and torment, yet also demand they let go of hatred and remain gentle and kind. They want people to deliver warmth, yet also expect them to stand by indifferently.”] Su Meng listened, then curled her lips into a smile at 666, her voice soft and sweet.

[“You’re so adorable.”]

666 inexplicably felt a chill run down its neck, sensing there was more to Su Meng’s words than met the ear.

Su Meng lowered her gaze, concealing the keen interest in her eyes.

So, what would happen if the storyline changed?

She was looking forward to it.

…

In another small room within the warehouse, Ji Weichen appeared somewhat disheveled. He was hunched over, a clear wound visible on his abdomen, his face pale. His long, black hair fell loosely, nearly covering his eyes entirely. Yet he seemed completely unaware of the pain, his eyelashes slightly raised.

His dark, star-like eyes coldly scrutinized the person before him as if looking at a lifeless object, watching the other cover their eyes in agony, writhing and twisting like a maggot while clutching their stomach, their bloodshot eyes glaring as they cursed furiously.

“My eyes… Damn it, you damned little brat, what did you do to me? It was you… you set us up… Ah…” The man’s voice grew weaker and weaker until his breath finally faded away.

Ji Weichen withdrew his gaze. Seeing someone die before him, he showed no particular reaction. He merely struggled to straighten up, lowered his eyes, and fumbled his way toward the door.

Thud…

A loud noise echoed as the man who had just collapsed suddenly opened his eyes. Like a final resurgence before death, he mustered his last ounce of strength, determined to take down the culprit. He pulled the copper nail out of his own eye and lunged viciously toward Ji Weichen’s eyes.

Ji Weichen’s pupils contracted sharply. He didn’t even have time to evade.

Squelch…

A soft sound of metal piercing flesh echoed, and crimson filled Ji Weichen’s vision.

He stared in disbelief at the person who had appeared before him.

“Hi…” Su Meng tilted her head, greeting Ji Weichen amiably. Despite the copper nail embedded in her palm, she showed no sign of pain, merely curving her lips into a smile that revealed her sharp little canine teeth.

“Ji Weichen.”

As if observing something fascinating, she enunciated his name slowly, syllable by syllable.

“Finally met you.”
