When Lan Tian groggily opened his eyes, he immediately felt that his hands were restrained.
Main Plot Boss: “Little Anti-Protagonist, Little Anti-Protagonist, how are you doing?”
In his mind, Min Yue kept sending messages one after another. It seemed this sudden turn of events had caught even the Big Boss completely off guard.
Lan Tian: “I’m fine, I just felt dizzy earlier. No other strange sensations.”
As Lan Tian replied to the Boss, he opened his eyes fully and slowly regained his clarity.
“Are you awake?” Lan Tian heard the Boss’s calm voice. He knew the Boss wasn’t speaking to him, but to the protagonist.
“Master, do not worry. This is completely normal; I didn’t use too much force to suppress Senior Brother’s spiritual power,” Yu Shengyan said to Min Yue. Min Yue’s expression was complex, and he merely offered a simple, “Mm.”
This was the scene Lan Tian witnessed upon opening his eyes. Soon, he was shocked to discover that the rope restricting immortal energy had been transferred to his own hands. However… there was an additional trace of lingering white light wrapped around it. Lan Tian tested it slightly and found he was truly bound completely unable to break free.
“Master, my apologies.”
A voice suddenly came from beside Lan Tian. He turned his head and saw that Jialuo was also tied up. Jialuo looked dejected, his head hung low as shadows covered his face, appearing deeply remorseful.
Lan Tian suddenly felt a bit sorry for him. Driven here and there by him, the puppet had ended up tied up as well, even though he hadn’t done anything wrong.
But… he suddenly sensed a trace of vitality returning to Jialuo’s body.
This vitality was absolutely not a trick of Lan Tian’s eyes; it had genuinely appeared. Originally, Jialuo’s body was filled with a deathly aura, which, once one grew accustomed to it, would slowly become invisible and imperceptible. Therefore, the moment this trace of vitality appeared, it was incredibly conspicuous.
So, Jialuo was currently feeling guilt, rather than remaining expressionless like a statue as before.
“It’s fine,” Lan Tian thought, surprised, while quickly making his voice sound utterly ice-cold. He then turned his head to officially look at the protagonist.
As expected of the protagonist, the halo always exists… In just the short time he was unconscious, the protagonist had fixed everything.
“What… did you do?” Lan Tian stared at the protagonist, watching him warily as if he harbored ill intentions.
Yu Shengyan looked at him for a few seconds and fell silent. He seemed somewhat disappointed. After a moment, he lowered his eyelashes, turned around, and let out a sigh.
Lan Tian: ?
Why did it feel like Yu Shengyan was sighing over a child who refused to learn good ways? Well… Lan Tian’s previous performance was indeed… frightening.
“Now that we have reversed the situation, what are your thoughts going forward?” Min Yue spoke up.
Lan Tian naturally shifted his gaze to him and discovered that his wound was completely healed. Min Yue definitely wouldn’t heal the wound himself, so it could only have been Yu Shengyan’s doing.
“I don’t know either… I just wanted First Senior Brother to stop earlier.” Yu Shengyan frowned, his expression somewhat dazed. He sat on the ground, looking lost.
Hearing this, Min Yue secretly let out a sigh of relief. If the protagonist had a clear objective and immediately fled or handed Lan Tian over to the Immortal Sects, things would become quite troublesome.
“We currently don’t know where we are, so let’s not alert the enemy for now,” Min Yue said slowly after pondering for a moment.
Yu Shengyan nodded in agreement. “Then we shall do as Master says and get a clear understanding of this place first.”
“By the way… Yu Shengyan… what was that white light just now? Why did it suddenly possess such massive power?”
Min Yue turned the thought over in his mind before finally asking. What astonished him even more was seeing that Jialuo had absorbed the white light and begun to regain his vitality. Jialuo was definitely not ordinary; he shared a certain connection with Yu Shengyan. However… they knew too little right now, and he couldn’t figure out what that connection was.
“I don’t know either, but… that power felt very familiar. It shouldn’t cause me any harm,” Yu Shengyan replied ambiguously. Clearly, nothing more could be pried out of him, so Min Yue dropped the subject.
“Release me?!” Lan Tian suddenly shouted, acting as though he were enraged by Yu Shengyan’s silence toward him. It was all still part of the act.
Yu Shengyan paused, then furrowed his brows. “First Senior Brother, quiet down. I will release you.”
Hearing this, both Lan Tian and Min Yue were shocked. Really release him? Lan Tian had only said it casually… what was the point of capturing him then?
Min Yue chimed in right on cue, asking, “You want to release him?”
Yu Shengyan turned to look at Min Yue. “Master, if First Senior Brother doesn’t commit evil, can we release him and let him live his life freely?”
Hearing this, Min Yue knew exactly what Yu Shengyan was thinking. He hardened his expression. “You know that is merely wishful thinking…”
Yu Shengyan stopped speaking. His eyes widened slightly, then slowly closed.
“Heh, easy for you to say. Why not release me right now then?” Lan Tian followed up smoothly, wanting to accelerate the plot.
At the same time… he suddenly caught a tiny, faint sound of teeth grinding. His ears twitched, and he pretended to nonchalantly glance back at Jialuo. Jialuo’s head was still hung low, but this time, Lan Tian noticed something different.
A furry little ball had emerged from Jialuo’s sleeve, poking out its head from time to time to gnaw on the rope binding Jialuo.
Lan Tian quickly turned his head back, pretending he hadn’t seen a thing, though he was incredibly shocked inside. You can even do that?
Meanwhile, his mind raced. If Jialuo successfully escaped, he would undoubtedly free Lan Tian very quickly. The current situation was different from before. Previously, Yu Shengyan posed no threat to him, but now he did. Once he gained his freedom, there would only be one outcome: a battle between two opposing sides.
Since the mission wasn’t completed yet, he couldn’t leave just now… could a battle increase trust value? Highly unlikely. He was still in an awkward relationship with the protagonist; he needed to alter this dynamic into one that only increased trust value.
Lan Tian paged the Main Plot Boss again.
Lan Tian: “Boss, Jialuo might escape. When the time comes, you catch him first… Sigh, our previous plan has been disrupted. My current identity is way too awkward.”
Min Yue realized this too. The current mission progress seemed to have hit a bottleneck stuck in limbo, an awkward predicament.
Main Plot Boss: “Alright, don’t worry. Let’s see how things unfold first, then we’ll map out a new plan.”
Lan Tian read it and was just about to reply with an “Okay.”
Suddenly, a message popped up from Lala, the Main Plot: “Everyone, how is the mission going? I’m coming to find you guys.”
Lan Tian: “Holy crap…”
Main Plot Boss: “Holy crap…”
Lan Tian and Min Yue exchanged a look, understanding perfectly.
Lala, the Main Plot… had actually… broadcasted the message to both of them.
