Yuan Ruoshen smiled faintly. “I understand, Grandpa.”

He spoke with Elder Yuan for a while. In truth, the old man did not want him putting himself in dangerous situations anymore. However, when considering the changes in Yuan Ruoshen, Elder Yuan was not entirely oblivious to the reality of the situation.

Ultimately, he said nothing more and simply let out a sigh.Full novel: After Three Lifetimes of Tragedy, I Finally Got a Happy Ending with His Majesty — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yuan Ruoshen pressed his lips together, choosing to steer the conversation elsewhere while giving Elder Yuan a surprise, though it was quite possible it might be a shock instead.

“Grandpa, let me introduce someone to you.”

Yuan Ruoshen stood up, reached over to take the hand of Yan Qinyu, who had been standing to the side, and said solemnly to Elder Yuan, “His name is Yan Qinyu. He is the person I love.”

Yan Qinyu looked at Yuan Ruoshen abruptly. He had not anticipated that Yuan Ruoshen would be so direct, leaving him completely stunned for a moment.

Wait, what on earth are you doing, Shen?!

Yan Qinyu thought to himself, You’re just going to blurt it out like that? You didn’t give the elderly man any time to mentally prepare himself. What if you give him a heart attack!

Yuan Ruoshen replied internally, He won’t. My grandpa has excellent psychological resilience. Besides, I don’t want you to feel hidden or wronged.

Yan Qinyu did not know whether to laugh or cry.

On the other side, Elder Yuan was indeed caught completely off guard by Yuan Ruoshen’s words.

Seeing their fingers tightly intertwined, his eyelids twitched.

Fortunately, the spiritual energy Yuan Ruoshen had previously channeled into him had completely cured his physical ailments. Otherwise, the sudden emotional whiplash of this unexpected scene might have caused him to faint all over again.

His grandson had been independent and reclusive since childhood, with Yan Lan being his only friend.

Elder Yuan had never heard his grandson mention liking anyone before. He had originally assumed the boy intended to grow old alone. Yet now, he had brought someone right before him, declared him his beloved, and it was a man.

It was not that Elder Yuan was traditional or prejudiced against two men being together. In his view, as long as Yuan Ruoshen could find someone he loved and avoid spending his life in solitude, he did not care about gender.

He simply felt there was something going on behind the scenes that he was unaware of.

After all, he had never seen Yan Qinyu before; it was only during this recent rescue that he had met him. Yuan Ruoshen had merely gone undercover for a single mission, and upon returning, he suddenly declared his love for the man. Could this be some sort of cliché case of love at first sight after a heroic rescue?

The old man possessed a highly active imagination and was prone to overthinking things.

Regardless, he needed to clarify the situation. Otherwise, it would cause trouble if any unexpected complications arose in the future.

Elder Yuan froze for a long while, his expression shifting repeatedly.

Ultimately, he asked, “What exactly is going on between you two? When did you meet? Although people are free to love whomever they want nowadays, I still must ask clearly: Are you two serious? I hope this isn’t just a fleeting impulse.”

Yuan Ruoshen let out a soft chuckle and said earnestly, “Grandpa, Qinyu and I have known each other for a very, very long time. He once saved my life.”

At this point, he turned his gaze toward Yan Qinyu, his smiling eyes overflowing with deep affection. “I love him. I love him very, very much.”

Yan Qinyu froze slightly, then squeezed Yuan Ruoshen’s hand back. “Through every lifetime, until death departs us.”

Watching this scene unfold, Elder Yuan understood everything clearly. Looking at the sheer, irreplaceable adoration written all over his grandson’s face, it was almost too much to bear.

Elder Yuan had witnessed Yan Qinyu’s capabilities firsthand prior to this, so he felt reassured regarding the man’s martial prowess. The Yuan family was a prominent target that attracted many enemies.

Initially, Elder Yuan had worried about dragging Yan Qinyu into their troubles. Now, however, it seemed that concern was entirely unnecessary. Anyone capable of bringing Yuan Ruoshen back from the Ranye Organization completely unscathed possessed an undeniable level of strength.

Furthermore, regarding the massive changes within Yuan Ruoshen, Elder Yuan’s mind was as clear as a mirror; he already had his suspicions.

But no matter what had occurred, as long as Yuan Ruoshen was alive and remained his grandson, that was more than enough.

“Since both of you know exactly what you are doing, I won’t say anything more,” Elder Yuan said seriously. “As long as you two can live well, that is enough.”

Children and grandchildren must ultimately pave their own paths to happiness!
