The CEO’s Little Wife 15
When Shen Yan led Qiao Yu downstairs by the hand, Aunt Zhou was still turning up her nose.
As soon as she saw Shen Yan, Aunt Zhou couldn’t help forcing out a sarcastic, mocking laugh from her throat. Feeling guilty, Shen Yan didn’t dare confront her directly and could only pretend not to hear.
“The food has gone cold, and now you know to come down.”
Aunt Zhou secretly rolled her eyes. Seeing Qiao Yu sitting in the seat Shen Yan had pulled out for him, she turned around with a loving smile.
“Little Fish, try this chicken soup. Auntie made it especially for you… it’s very nourishing!”
“And there’s more: Chinese yam stewed spare ribs, and this ostrich egg. They’re all good stuff for building up the body!”
As she spoke, Aunt Zhou deftly ladled soup and picked up dishes for Qiao Yu. In no time, several plates and bowls were lined up in front of him.
Shen Yan frowned as he watched, worried that Qiao Yu might be too weak to handle the nourishment, so he hesitantly tried to stop her. “Aunt Zhou, Little Fish, he…”
“Go on, go on!” Aunt Zhou waved her hand impatiently, cutting Shen Yan off.
“What do you know?” When Aunt Zhou turned around, her attitude toward Shen Yan had changed completely. She slipped into the kitchen and came back out with a creamy milk-white thick soup that had a ring of golden oil floating on top.
“Little Fish, the others are secondary. You need to drink this first!”
The soup looked pretty good. A hint of bright green scallions floated on the milky broth, making it appetizing.
Seeing the curiosity in Qiao Yu’s brows and eyes, Aunt Zhou softly explained, “It’s soft-shelled turtle soup. It’s good for the kidneys.”
Shen Yan: ?
She had wanted to make this soup for Qiao Yu for a long time. She was old enough not to bother with all that roundabout embarrassment anymore. Just by comparing Qiao Yu and Shen Yan when they were together, she could tell whose body got more worn out behind closed doors.
Shen Yan was as sturdy as an ox. What did he need to supplement? It was Little Fish who was pitiful, his young body drained by that kind of thing.
Especially the scene she’d seen in the changing room today. She didn’t understand much about young people’s sexual tension, but in her eyes, Shen Yan was like a wolf, as if he wanted to tear Qiao Yu apart and swallow him whole.
Qiao Yu, however, wasn’t thinking as much as she was. He took the spoon and scooped a mouthful of soup. His brow slowly relaxed as he tasted it. The broth was fresh and flavorful, not greasy, and quite tasty.
Seeing that Qiao Yu was drinking it happily, Shen Yan didn’t stop him. Instead, he said helplessly, “Little Fish isn’t old enough for kidney tonics yet. Besides, even if anyone needs them, shouldn’t you be giving them to me?”
After all, he was the one doing the work in bed.
When Aunt Zhou heard this, she shot him a glare, not too hard and not too gentle either. Before she could speak, there was a loud clatter from the table, followed by the sound of a metal spoon hitting the floor.
Both of them looked over and saw that somehow Qiao Yu’s soup bowl had been tossed back onto the table, and the spoon in his hand had fallen to the ground too.
With a pale face, Qiao Yu frowned at the bowl on the table, which had not tipped over but had still splashed some soup out.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Yan’s expression turned serious. He reached out with the spoon and stirred in the bowl. The next moment, a dark little claw with sharp nails came into view. Looking at Qiao Yu’s even uglier expression, there was nothing left not to understand.
Shen Yan understood immediately. He moved the soft-shelled turtle soup farther away and replaced it with a bowl of chicken soup, but Qiao Yu seemed disgusted by that thing. No matter what was brought over, he frowned and turned his head away.
Shen Yan’s heart sank, but there was nothing he could do.
Qiao Yu was truly a very delicate person. Not only did the food he ate have to taste good and suit his palate, it also had to look good.
If the soft-shelled turtle soup had really just been soup and nothing messy in it, Qiao Yu would have drunk it. But now that he had fished out a claw from it, how could Qiao Yu possibly eat it as if nothing had happened?
“Little Fish, try this osmanthus cake. Aunt Zhou just made it fresh.”
Shen Yan said as he picked up a piece of snow-white osmanthus cake, but Qiao Yu was now completely occupied by the turtle from just now. How could he possibly eat anything? He immediately pinched his nose and shook his head.
Aunt Zhou had meant well but made a mess of things. She quickly brought Qiao Yu other things to eat, but he refused them one by one.
Shen Yan knew he couldn’t eat anything right now. After a long sigh, he waved his hand. “If you don’t want to eat, then don’t. We’ll talk later.”
“Aunt Zhou, Little Fish is starting school soon. Even though he won’t be boarding, the things he needs to prepare have to be handled carefully. Please take care of that.”
Aunt Zhou’s eyes were full of guilt now. Since Shen Yan said so, how could she not agree? She nodded at once, turned, and left the dining room.
“If you don’t want to eat, we can go back to the room and read.”
Shen Yan put down his chopsticks, lifted his gaze, and spoke to Qiao Yu, whose expression still hadn’t fully eased.
Hearing this, Qiao Yu’s expression relaxed a little. He gave a faint nod and, before Shen Yan could move, got up and walked upstairs.
The book he had not finished reading last time had been bookmarked by Shen Yan and placed on the headboard. Qiao Yu casually flipped it open and naturally stopped at the spot where he had left off last time.
He hadn’t even finished one page before the bedroom door opened again. Qiao Yu lifted his eyelids and saw Shen Yan walking in with something in his hands. He lost a little interest and looked away.
“Open your mouth.”
Qiao Yu’s gaze was still on the book when he suddenly felt something cool press against his lips. Then he heard Shen Yan’s voice. Instinctively, Qiao Yu opened his mouth. Before he could react, his teeth had already started chewing out of habit.
The sweet and juicy strawberry slowly burst between his lips and teeth, sending all the discomfort from just now to the back of his mind. Qiao Yu’s eyes lit up. He put down the book and looked at the plate in Shen Yan’s hand.
The porcelain plate with gold patterns held a few strawberries. The man’s long, fair fingers pinched the sweet pink fruit, and a bit of juice soaked Shen Yan’s fingertip, giving him a somewhat seductive air.
Seeing Qiao Yu looking at him expectantly, Shen Yan gave a low chuckle and picked up another piece, feeding it into Qiao Yu’s mouth. The moment his fingers brushed across Qiao Yu’s lips, the man’s gaze darkened visibly, but Qiao Yu didn’t notice at all. The sweetness of the strawberries made his eyes narrow in pleasure.
“You can’t be greedy.” Faced with Qiao Yu’s open mouth asking for more, Shen Yan “cruelly” refused him. He put the strawberries on the bedside cabinet, took out a tissue, and wiped Qiao Yu’s mouth and his own hands.
Perhaps Qiao Yu’s gaze was just too pitiful. Shen Yan softened a little. He pinched the young man’s soft earlobe and said in a gentle tone, “Wait a bit before eating more.”
Hearing this, Qiao Yu could only withdraw his gaze in disappointment.
