CEO’s Little Wife 7
Qiao Yu drank the glass of water in small sips, moistening his parched throat enough to speak again. After handing the cup back to Shen Yan, he tilted his head and quietly thanked him.
“Mr. Shen, thank you for taking me to the hospital.”
Shen Yan kept that posture. He did not take up Qiao Yu’s words. Instead, he lowered his head slightly, as if coming to interrogate him, and whispered by Qiao Yu’s ear, “The doctor said you have acute gastroenteritis. What did you sneakily eat today?”
Qiao Yu blinked, apparently not expecting Shen Yan’s focus to be that. His sluggish mind turned over, and in the end he cautiously said, “I… didn’t eat anything?”
As if he had already guessed Qiao Yu would say that, Shen Yan showed no surprise at all. Instead, he lightly pinched Qiao Yu’s earlobe.
“Really didn’t eat? Think it over before you answer.”
Qiao Yu keenly sensed that the atmosphere no longer allowed him to keep lying. His mind only had sleep and food in it, so after a brief thought he decided to turn the tables.
“The things you like are too spicy. I can’t stomach them.”
Shen Yan raised an eyebrow. “So you sneaking ice cream is somehow my taste’s fault now?”
Qiao Yu pressed his lips together and lied without blinking. “I ate ice cream because I couldn’t stand the food.”
“It wasn’t sneaking…”
Before he could finish saying that it was given to him by Aunt Zhou, someone gently pinched his face and cut him off. Qiao Yu let out a soft cry and leaned in with Shen Yan’s pinching motion, reaching out a little aggrievedly to stop him.
Shen Yan had never intended to hurt him. His strength really was not much at all, but when he let go, a faint pink finger mark still remained on Qiao Yu’s fair little face.
Qiao Yu covered his face with one hand. His reaction was not like someone being affectionately pinched, but more like he had been slapped. He complained in a somewhat resentful whisper.
“You’re abusing me.”
Shen Yan was instantly so angry he laughed. He only felt that there was no one more infuriating in the world than Qiao Yu, shifting the blame and wrongly accusing people.
“Abusing you?”
Qiao Yu nodded, not the least bit hesitant. Sure enough, this was the male lead who liked to inflict both physical and mental suffering. He really was so smooth when it came to hurting people.
Qiao Yu’s current expression practically embodied the words ungrateful wretch, but Shen Yan still could not bring himself to bully him. If it were anyone else, Shen Yan really would have shown them what real violence was.
But the one in front of him was Qiao Yu, that little brat who could make his own waist creak after lying down too long.
“Do you know what counts as domestic violence?”
Qiao Yu covered his face and looked at him, feeling that this man must be taking him for an idiot. He gave a small nod to show that he knew.
Shen Yan clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and lowered his eyes. “What is it?”
“Punching me with your fist, hitting me with something.”
As he spoke, Qiao Yu even glanced at Shen Yan’s hand. That big hand could wrap around his entire face. If it punched him, it would definitely hurt. But if a protagonist buff existed, did that count as a whip dipped in medicine?
Qiao Yu’s train of thought was unusually strange, but Shen Yan just gave a cold snort.
“You know that, yet you still falsely accuse me.”
Qiao Yu pulled himself out of his thoughts and seriously retorted, “Pinching me also counts as domestic violence, because you made me hurt.”
Shen Yan actually felt he had no way to argue with him anymore. By Qiao Yu’s logic, was he supposed to apologize?
“Do I also have to say sorry to you?”
Qiao Yu shook his head. “No need to be polite. Just be gentler when you hit me in the future. I’m really afraid of pain.”
Better yet, don’t hit him at all; just touching him would be enough.
Shen Yan was truly furious. Sometimes he really wanted to pry open Qiao Yu’s head and see how it worked, how it could be full of such strange ideas.
“Who told you I was going to hit you?”
The plot said so.
Of course, Qiao Yu did not dare say that to Shen Yan. He did not want to keep arguing about this, because it was really tiring.
“Then just don’t hit me.”
Even though he said that, Shen Yan could tell from the way Qiao Yu pressed his lips together and lowered his head that he definitely did not believe him. He even seriously thought about where exactly he looked like some pervert who liked domestic violence.
Shen Yan had always followed the good habit of solving problems on the spot and leaving no future trouble behind. To keep Qiao Yu from feeling pressured, he even deliberately slowed his tone.
“I won’t hit you.”
“So why do you think I will definitely hit you? Has someone hit you before?”
Qiao Yu shook his head. Of course he had never been hit. He could not explain that because he could foresee the future, he knew Shen Yan would hit him later, so he took a detour and casually found an excuse.
“All men abuse their wives after they get married.”
Sorry, to all men out there.
Shen Yan really could not understand his train of thought. It was truly infuriating.
“Aren’t you a man? I’m not even afraid of you abusing me.”
Qiao Yu: ?
01: ?
Qiao Yu stretched out his arm and compared it with Shen Yan’s. The man’s sturdy biceps showed the outline of muscle even without exertion, and the circumference of his arm was almost as thick as Qiao Yu’s thigh.
Compared with Shen Yan, Qiao Yu’s already slender arm looked even more pitiful.
Who was hitting whom?
Qiao Yu absolutely could not let himself be branded as a bad man, so he rejected it with a serious face. “I won’t commit domestic violence, and I can’t beat you.”
Shen Yan was convinced. Truly convinced.
If someone had told him two days ago that one day he would be discussing who was abusing whom with a kid eight years younger than him, Shen Yan would have kicked that person straight into the open sea and never let him crawl back.
But since it had already happened, Shen Yan could only accept defeat. He could not hit him, and he did not dare scold him. His dignity had been completely shattered by Qiao Yu’s bizarre train of thought.
“Alright, let’s not discuss this anymore. Just remember that I won’t hit you, okay?”
Qiao Yu gave a soft “mm” as if he had heard him, but Shen Yan could tell from his expression that he had not taken it to heart at all.
There was no point saying more. The ward bed was still fairly large, and the two of them lying together was not crowded. He gently pulled the blanket over Qiao Yu’s head and said in a low voice, “Sleep.”
“Then sleep with me.” Qiao Yu opened his eyes and stubbornly tugged at the corner of Shen Yan’s clothes.
Shen Yan’s gaze naturally dropped, finally resting on Qiao Yu’s slender fingers. He did not refute it. He just gave a soft “mm” and lay down on the left side of the hospital bed.
For Qiao Yu, there was no such thing as being too well-rested to sleep. Shen Yan clearly thought so too.
Qiao Yu thought he did not know anything, but in fact, Aunt Zhou had already told Shen Yan that Qiao Yu had spent the whole day lying on the bed asleep.
But that night, Qiao Yu really could not sleep no matter how much he tossed and turned. Shen Yan, sleeping beside him, was also a light sleeper; every time Qiao Yu turned over and sighed, Shen Yan could hear it.
When Qiao Yu sighed and turned over for the third time, Shen Yan opened his eyes with some concern and asked softly what was wrong, whether his stomach hurt again.
Who knew that under the dim yellow light, Qiao Yu blinked his big, cat-like, innocent eyes and said to him very seriously:
“The bed is too hard. I’m uncomfortable.”
…
Shen Yan did not even manage to say a word. After reacting for a full few seconds, he sighed, sat up from the bed, and started putting on his clothes. After he dressed himself, he also dressed Qiao Yu.
In the end, Qiao Yu was wrapped in Shen Yan’s coat and carried by someone into the car to head home.
