Three days later.
South City, CBD, 32nd Floor, Global Center.
The newly renovated office of Fengxing Technology still carried the lingering scent of fresh paint.
Su Ran stood before the enormous floor to ceiling windows, looking down at the bustling city below.
Sunlight filtered through the glass, draping her in a soft golden glow.
Today, she wore a perfectly tailored cream colored business suit. Her long hair was neatly pinned into a sleek bun, and light makeup accentuated her delicate features.
She was no longer the fugitive hiding in the urban village.
Starting today, she was the CEO of Fengxing Technology.
President Su.
Fu Yechuan stood several steps behind her, leaning on his crutch.
His foot injury had not fully healed, but he had already changed into a sharp dark gray suit. His hair had been carefully styled, and the face that once carried traces of hardship and ruthlessness now displayed only calm confidence and calculated composure.
“How does it feel, President Su?” he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“Not great.”
Su Ran turned around and leaned casually against the window.
“Three million in debt, a company that’s barely staying afloat, and a group of employees waiting for their paychecks. Mr. Fu, the mess you handed me isn’t exactly easy to clean up.”
“I have faith in your abilities.”
The corner of Fu Yechuan’s lips lifted slightly.
During the past three days, the two of them had worked around the clock without a single mistake.
Su Ran handled every legal and business procedure on the surface. Under the identity of a highly educated returnee from overseas, she negotiated with brokers, lawyers, and banks, successfully channeling the enormous overseas funds into Fengxing Technology’s accounts under the legal guise of venture capital investment.
Meanwhile, Fu Yechuan remained behind the scenes. Drawing on the network he had built over the years and his deep understanding of business strategy, he provided tactical guidance and risk assessments for every move she made.
One operated in the open while the other worked from the shadows.
Together, they advanced with precision, cutting directly into the rigid structure of South City’s business world.
“The Bai family has made a move.”
Fu Yechuan handed her a document.
“They investigated that shell company called Su Hang and found nothing. Bai Jingshan was so furious he nearly tore down the entire industrial park.”
Su Ran accepted the document and laughed.
“I expected that. Bai Weiwei is probably running around in circles by now.”
“She’ll be crashing into us soon enough.”
A trace of coldness entered Fu Yechuan’s eyes.
“Fengxing Technology suddenly receiving a massive investment is too big a development for her to miss. At most, it’ll take her a day to trace it back to you.”
“I’ve been waiting for her.”
Su Ran placed the file on the desk.
“We have money now. We have a company. And we have Shen Zhixing, a bomb that can go off at any moment. We’re no longer helpless prey waiting to be hunted.”
Fu Yechuan gazed at her, emotions stirring beneath his calm expression.
He walked to her side and stood shoulder to shoulder with her, both of them looking out over the city.
“Su Ran.”
“Hmm?”
“Are you afraid?”
“Afraid of what?”
“Losing.”
Su Ran fell silent for a moment.
She looked at the steady flow of traffic below and the distant outline of Yun Mountain hidden within a veil of mist.
“I used to be,” she admitted.
“Every night I had nightmares. I dreamed of having my legs broken, being thrown into prison, dying without anyone ever knowing the truth. Back then, all I wanted was to make enough money and run as far away as possible.”
She turned and met his eyes.
“But not anymore.”
“Why?”
“Because…” She smiled, and beneath the sunlight that smile was dazzling enough to make people lose focus. “I’m not alone anymore.”
Fu Yechuan’s Adam’s apple bobbed.
The words that had reached his lips were swallowed back down.
A knock sounded on the office door.
The newly hired assistant poked her head inside.
“President Su, the reception desk downstairs says a woman surnamed Bai is here. She doesn’t have an appointment, but she insists on seeing you.”
She had arrived. Su Ran exchanged a glance with Fu Yechuan.
“Send her up.”
Ten minutes later.
Bai Weiwei appeared at the office entrance in a pair of ten centimeter heels.
She wore a tight crimson dress that hugged her figure perfectly. Her makeup was flawless, her presence overwhelming.
Her gaze swept across the office.
It paused briefly on Fu Yechuan and the crutch in his hand before settling on Su Ran.
The look in her eyes seemed ready to devour her alive.
“Su Ran.”
Her red lips parted, her voice as sweet as ever, yet wrapped in bone chilling coldness.
“Long time no see. I never expected you’d have the ability to crawl out of the gutter and end up sitting in such a bright and impressive office.”
Su Ran smiled and stepped out from behind her desk, personally pouring her a glass of water.
“Miss Bai, you’re too kind. I’ve always been here. I simply changed locations.”
She set the glass on the coffee table in front of Bai Weiwei.
“On the other hand, Miss Bai, you don’t look very well lately. Those dark circles under your eyes are practically reaching your chin. Haven’t you been sleeping?”
Bai Weiwei’s expression darkened instantly.
Her flawless beauty was her greatest source of pride.
Su Ran’s words struck directly at her sorest spot.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
Bai Weiwei pulled a document from her bag and slammed it onto the table.
“Fengxing Technology? A garbage company carrying three million in debt. Do you really think a little money you scammed from who knows where is enough to turn things around?”
“Whether I can turn things around or not isn’t something Miss Bai needs to worry about.”
Su Ran returned to her executive chair, interlacing her fingers as she sat calmly.
“Since you’ve honored us with your presence today, I assume you didn’t come all this way just to discuss corporate management.”
“I came to give you one last chance.”
Bai Weiwei rose to her feet and looked down at her.
“Hand over control of the company and take Fu Yechuan out of South City. Otherwise, I’ll show you what true despair looks like.”
Su Ran looked at her and suddenly found the situation somewhat amusing.
Even now, Bai Weiwei remained as arrogant as ever, still believing the entire world should revolve around her.
“Miss Bai,” Su Ran said as she stood up as well.
Though she was half a head shorter, her presence was no less imposing.
“There’s something I’d like to tell you too.”
“What?”
“The times have changed.”
Su Ran pressed a button on her desk.
The office projector screen slowly descended.
A video began to play. On the screen was Shen Zhixing.
Seated in a dimly lit room, he faced the camera and methodically detailed every crime Bai Weiwei had committed.
How she had instructed him to fabricate evidence.
How she had bribed judges. How she had embezzled the Fu family’s assets.
Every detail. Every transaction.
Every date and timeline.
Everything matched the evidence in Su Ran’s possession perfectly.
The color drained from Bai Weiwei’s face in an instant.
