Real estate on two commercial streets.
Su Chuiyun’s eyes snapped open in an instant, looking at Ming Shu with utter disbelief.
Was this the kind of thing one could just give away casually?
Ming Shu seemed oblivious to her shock. She settled Su Chuiyun steadily into her wheelchair and gave instructions to the secretary behind her. After ordering the security guards to fish the man out of the water, she picked up her little girlfriend and walked away.
Leaning against Ming Shu’s shoulder, Su Chuiyun could feel the steady thrum of Ming Shu’s heartbeat. In the cool breeze, the scent of gardenias was clear and intoxicating. Accompanied by the rustling of the bamboo forest, it evoked a sense of youthful, fluttering nervousness.
Ming Shu wasn’t certain of Su Chuiyun’s tastes. “There are also a few pieces of antique porcelain, likely from the Ming and Qing dynasties. My adoptive father didn’t know their worth, he couldn’t hold onto good things.”
After a few seconds of silence, Ming Shu continued, “If you don’t like those, I’m going to an auction house this afternoon to pick up an antique necklace. You’re beautiful; you suit diamonds.”
Ming Shu was carefully trying to gauge the young woman’s preferences, unaware that Su Chuiyun was practically reeling.
In her past life as a corporate drone, Su Chuiyun used to secretly count her monthly income on her fingers. Even as a top student who once scored over 140 on her high school math exams, she found herself unable to calculate this. She hadn’t seen this much money in her current life, the human mind struggles to imagine things that have no point of reference.
Once again, Su Chuiyun felt that the world of the wealthy was truly unfriendly to the working class.
Ming Shu watched her expression closely. “A-Yun?”
Su Chuiyun said timidly, “The things are too valuable. I can’t accept them.”
If it were diamond rings or earrings, one could call it “romance” between a couple. But giving away two entire streets? What was that supposed to be?
Ming Shu misinterpreted her hesitation. “Does A-Yun not like them? Or do you feel that by giving you these things, I am insulting our relationship…”
Ming Shu was clumsy with words. She had never been good at saying sweet things; she only knew how to give everything she considered “good” to Su Chuiyun.
Su Chuiyun: “…”
If this is an insult, please don’t hesitate to insult me a little more.
Su Chuiyun hurriedly agreed, “I can! I like them!”
Only then did Ming Shu feel at ease. She turned back with a cold, menacing glance at the man being dragged up by the security guards like a dead dog.
Wang Jiabao wasn’t sure if his leg had cramped in the rock pool or if he was simply paralyzed by the sight of the deep water. After being pulled up, he looked soul-shaken, his whole body trembling as he curled up in the grass.
With pale, quivering lips, Wang Jiabao stammered, “Su Chuiyun made me go into the water to get the bracelet on purpose. She’s trying to kill me! It’s illegal! You should call the police and arrest that woman!”
The moment Wang Jiabao uttered his first word, a security guard expertly covered his mouth.
“Shut up.”
Wang Jiabao’s pupils shrunk to pinpricks. He flailed his limbs, trying to escape, but under the absolute physical suppression of the security personnel, he was pinned firmly to the ground.
Su Chuiyun, never one to pass up a chance to stir the pot, said, “Sister, he touched my arm just now.”
Hearing this, the security guard’s eyes flashed with even more obvious disgust. As Wang Jiabao struggled, the guard “accidentally” slammed a baton against his elbow.
Su Chuiyun asked softly, “Sister Ming Shu, doesn’t this man still have an embezzlement case from his previous company hanging over him?”
A layer of frost and gloom settled in Ming Shu’s eyes. Her white dress didn’t make her aura softer instead, it added a sense of sacred, inviolable coldness and detachment.
“Yes. I’ll notify the relevant authorities to come over.”
Hearing the screams, Sister-in-law Wang rushed over from Sister Chen’s side, only to see her son surrounded by police cars. She tried to pull her son away from the officers but was blocked. “We are performing our duties. Please stay back.”
Sister-in-law Wang’s legs went weak. It wasn’t that she didn’t know what her son had been up to; she felt a pang of guilt in her heart.
“He’s still young! What could he have possibly done?” she cried, collapsing to the ground. “He’s just a child!”
“I’ve never seen a ‘child’ nearly thirty years old,” the police officer said, glancing at her. “Wang Jiabao is involved in embezzling over six million yuan in public funds, suspected of private gambling, and attempted sexual harassment of a female colleague. Do you know him? You’ll need to come to the station as well.”
Ming Shu indifferently withdrew her gaze. “Where did he touch you? I’ll wipe it with alcohol for you.”
It was unclear when Ming Shu had arranged it, but the massive solid wood bed in the bedroom had been replaced with an antique pearwood “Six Post Canopy Bed” with Ruyi cloud patterns.
The bed looked like it had been moved out of an antique warehouse; there was still a layer of dust on the feet, which workers were currently wiping down with a special wood preservative. The bed railings were carved with scrolling grass and cloud patterns, and white jade pendants hung from the canopy curtains.
When Su Chuiyun saw the bed, she was startled. Having studied antiques and landscape architecture in her previous life, she could tell at a glance that this wasn’t a Qing dynasty product it looked like a Ming dynasty antique. Never mind the value of the entire bed even a single plank of this Huanghuali wood was worth more per gram than gold.
Ming Shu explained: “The Su family will be releasing a Ming and Qing series of antique-style furniture in the second half of the year. I brought a set from the old man’s warehouse. The family doesn’t know yet. A-Yun, you can use this as a blueprint for your designs.”
Su Chuiyun felt the gap between their worlds once again.
Diligent in her role as a blind person, Su Chuiyun reached out to feel the carvings on the bed frame, inhaling sharply with every touch.
She whispered, “How much did this cost?”
Ming Shu replied, “Not that expensive. It’s not something that circulates on the open market.”
Su Chuiyun: “.”
Once the workers finished cleaning the canopy bed and laid out the sun-fluffed bedding, Ming Shu gently placed her beautiful girlfriend onto it.
As Ming Shu wiped Su Chuiyun’s arm with alcohol, her heart wavered with a hint of uncertainty. She felt the stiffness and unnaturalness in Su Chuiyun’s body and assumed she disliked these things.
As the cold alcohol touched her skin, Su Chuiyun’s nerves jumped, and she winced involuntarily. Following the chill of the alcohol, she felt Ming Shu’s burning lips press against the inside of her arm.
Those hot lips slowly trailed upward.
Ming Shu’s voice carried a hint of breathless temptation. “Sign the transfer contract.”
Su Chuiyun paused. “I don’t have experience managing a commercial street.”
“I’ll teach you,” Ming Shu said, taking her hand. “Sign it.”
Ming Shu seemed to have plenty of experience pressuring people into signing contracts. She pulled a fountain pen from her pocket and placed it in Su Chuiyun’s palm. “Do you want me to call Sister Chen in to read the contract to you?”
Their hot breaths became inextricably intertwined.
With a slight flick of her wrist, Su Chuiyun signed her name unskillfully. As the last stroke was completed, the pen was recapped with a click and rolled onto the small table on the bed.
Su Chuiyun hugged the “Ice Queen” in her arms and sighed inwardly.
“Ming Shu, you’re too impulsive. You’ll lose money doing business like this.”
On the canopy bed, which emitted a faint scent of wood, Ming Shu’s long hair fell across Su Chuiyun’s collarbone, creating layers of itching sensations.
Su Chuiyun took the initiative to kiss the corner of Ming Shu’s eye. “You have the smell of hospital disinfectant on you. I don’t like it.”
Just as Ming Shu had wiped and kissed her arm, Su Chuiyun attempted to kiss away the scent of disinfectant. Her “Gold Donor” had spent a lot of money today; she needed to provide better service.
But my fingers are really tired, Su Chuiyun thought with a hint of gloom amidst her happiness. She figured she probably needed to start exercising more.
