Had that damned woman Jing Mo not come today?

Chi Yan called the front desk and asked whether Jing Mo had come in.

The receptionist told him that Jing Mo had come to the office today and, as usual, gone up to the top floor—only to leave again shortly afterward.

When he heard what time Jing Mo had arrived, Chi Yan narrowed his eyes.

Liu Ruyan had seemed to be on the top floor then, too.

Could Jing Mo have run into Liu Ruyan?

Was that why she’d gotten angry?

And taken the food she’d made for him with her?

Chi Yan thought his theory made perfect sense. Otherwise, Jing Mo wouldn’t have left.

Usually, after bringing him food, Jing Mo would wait for him to finish work, then eat with him before going home.

At the thought, a mocking smile crossed Chi Yan’s face. How boring. She was already upset over that?

Then again, Jing Mo was a small-minded woman. She was possessive of him and afraid of having other women around him. The slightest thing could put her in a bad mood.

“By the way, was Jing Mo angry when she left?” Chi Yan asked into the phone, raising an eyebrow.

He didn’t need to guess. That woman had surely stormed off in a huff.

But the receptionist’s answer took him by surprise.

“No, sir. Madam was very happy when she left,” came the voice through the receiver.

What?

Chi Yan’s gaze sharpened.

“You’re saying she was happy when she left?” He frowned deeply.

“Yes, sir. Madam really was very happy when she left,” the receptionist replied, bewildered. Madam had been beaming.

Hearing that, Chi Yan tightened his grip on the phone.

“Then what about my food? Did she take it with her?” Chi Yan drew a deep breath before asking slowly.

“Huh? Food? Madam didn’t bring you any food. She came empty-handed,” the receptionist quickly replied.

What?

Chi Yan was shocked all over again.

Jing Mo hadn’t brought him food; she’d come empty-handed. She’d run into Liu Ruyan, yet left looking happy?

Chi Yan was utterly stunned. Was this really the Jing Mo he knew?

Frowning, he hung up.

After ending the call, Chi Yan fell into thought.

What trick was that woman up to now?

In the past, Jing Mo had resorted to all sorts of tactics to get his attention and win his affection.

So what was she playing at now?

Was this another one of Jing Mo’s schemes?

Was she trying to draw his attention by retreating?

At the thought, Chi Yan laughed.

No wonder. He’d been wondering why Jing Mo was acting so strangely today. Turns out she was trying a new trick.

Well, they’d been married for three years. She must have realized that acting meek and submissive wasn’t working anymore, so she’d come up with a new tactic.

At the thought, a mocking curve formed at the corner of Chi Yi’s mouth.

Jing Mo, so what if you try every other trick in the book?

Even if every other woman in the world died, he still wouldn’t love her!

That afternoon, Jing Mo felt as if her legs were about to give out from all the running around.

Slumped on the sofa, she rubbed her legs.

Over the course of the afternoon, she changed the passwords on all her bank cards to new ones that only she knew.

Once she’d changed them, she specifically checked the balances.

Just as she’d expected, every card had at least seven figures in savings!

Several of them even had eight figures!

Oh, heavens!

Oh, earth!

She’d never imagined that one day, being rich would be so close within reach.

Overcome with excitement, Jing Mo shed two tears.

Seeing her, Nanny Wang assumed Jing Mo was crying because she was so heartbroken over what had happened the day before.

“Madam, Sir must have had something come up yesterday, or he would have made it back in time. Please don’t be sad,” Nanny Wang murmured, unable to help offering comfort.

Huh?

Jing Mo was baffled.

She was crying tears of joy because she was suddenly rich!

So Nanny Wang thought she was heartbroken over that scumbag male lead?

Ugh!

As if he deserved it!

Thinking of all the money in her bank accounts and all the jewelry in her wardrobe, Jing Mo narrowed her eyes.

She needed to get the divorce underway as soon as possible.

There was still one problem, though.

The novel said that because the two families had formed a marriage alliance, their business dealings were deeply intertwined. Getting a divorce would be a real hassle.

The Jing family might be the first to stand up and oppose it.

Ugh, this wasn’t going to be easy.

Jing Mo drummed her hands against her legs, troubled.

“Madam, please don’t be sad,” Nanny Wang pleaded again when she saw Jing Mo’s face fall.

Jing Mo finally looked Nanny Wang directly in the eye.

“Nanny Wang, you’ve got it wrong. I’m not sad about what happened yesterday.” As she spoke, Jing Mo wiped her tears dry with a tissue.

Nanny Wang regarded her with skepticism.

To be honest, she didn’t believe her!

Jing Mo could see the doubt in Nanny Wang’s eyes.

“All right, all right. Believe what you want. Anyway, I’m going shopping now!” With so much money in her accounts, Jing Mo had no intention of wasting time on things that didn’t matter.

Nanny Wang was surprised to hear that Jing Mo wanted to go out shopping.

Then, as if she’d figured something out, Nanny Wang’s face fell too.

Madam must have been so upset that she needed to go shopping. Yes, that had to be it!

After all, Madam hadn’t used to enjoy shopping. She’d simply have people bring things to the house.

And Madam had always devoted most of her time to Sir, never wasting it on shopping.

But Madam had already picked up her bag and was about to leave, so Nanny Wang said nothing. A little outing might do her good.

Jing Mo had no idea that while she was just picking up her bag and putting on her shoes, Nanny Wang had imagined all that.

Jing Mo simply had the driver take her to the biggest shopping mall in Haicheng.

Looking up at the enormous mall, Jing Mo gave a whistle. “My darlings, big sister’s here!”

Once inside, Jing Mo went on a shopping spree. Anything that caught her eye or struck her fancy, she paid for with a swipe of her card. She was having the time of her life.

Jing Mo was already stunning, and she was tall, too, so she drew plenty of attention in the mall.

“Hey, isn’t that Jing Mo? I must be seeing things. What’s she doing here?” In a luxury boutique, a beautiful woman stared in surprise at the tall beauty walking past. Wasn’t that Jing Mo? She was actually out shopping?

The beautiful woman hurriedly tossed the item in her hand to the sales assistant. “Wrap it up.” Then she tossed the assistant a card. “No PIN.”

With that, she strode out of the luxury boutique in ten-centimeter heels.

Jing Mo had several shopping bags from designer brands in her hands. Which store should she visit next? She narrowed her eyes as she picked her next target.

Suddenly—

“Jing Mo!” a voice called out.

Jing Mo turned, and a figure appeared before her.

The woman standing in front of her wore a Chanel-style short-skirt suit. Her shoulder-length hair was softly curled, and her makeup was just right—sweet and charming. Oh yeah, a beauty!

“Uh?” Jing Mo nearly blurted out, “Who are you?” but managed to stop herself. The woman knew her name, so they must know each other. Asking directly would be really strange.

Can’t you just give me the original’s memories? Jing Mo silently screamed inside.
