“Move out of the way, all of you!” Cheng Qian shouted angrily.

The group acted as if they had not heard him.

“You’re leaving anyway, and we’ll just die sooner or later. Why not run us over and kill us right now?”

“Oh, so you want to die? Fine, then we’ll grant your wish. Drive,” Cheng Qian warned irritably.

Seeing that the vehicles were actually starting to move, those who had been lying on the ground immediately became frightened and scrambled to their feet.

“This is outrageous! Is there no law anymore? Are you really going to run us over?”

However, when they saw that the vehicles had no intention of stopping, the group could only slowly move to either side of the road.

Even as they moved aside, they continued hurling insults.

“You heartless people who refuse to save others, you’ll get what’s coming to you!”

“What a bunch of shameless people,” Cheng Qian said angrily.

He could not help but sigh inwardly. Before the apocalypse, these people had all been polite and respectable individuals with a certain social standing. Yet after such a short time in the apocalypse, they had become completely unreasonable, behaving like street shrews and losing all semblance of their former selves.

Of course, there were still decent people in the villa, including some who were grateful to them. They simply thanked them silently in their hearts. Although they were also reluctant to see them leave, they did not come out to stop them because they had no reason to do so. At least they still had some dignity.

As they watched the vehicles drive away, the group went from panic to anger and humiliation. They picked up whatever they could find on the ground and threw it at the vehicles.

“I’m going down there to teach them a lesson.”

“There’s no need. People like them will get what’s coming to them sooner or later. Don’t dirty your hands,” Shen Pei said calmly from the side.

“I agree. Without us, let’s see how they manage to survive from now on.”

Gu Jingchuan remained silent throughout.

Soon, the vehicles left the villa and headed toward the streets of the city.

They ignored the scattered zombies they encountered along the way and simply drove past them. Whenever they came across obstacles blocking the road, they got out and moved them aside.

They had Cheng Qian, their strongman, to thank for that. With both hands, he could lift a car blocking the middle of the road and throw it to the side.

The first ten kilometers went smoothly because it was an area they had often traveled through while training, and they were familiar with the surroundings.

They had to be much more careful with the road ahead.

The apocalypse had not been going on for long, yet the entire city had already become ruined and chaotic. The streets were so quiet that they felt like ancient ruins abandoned for centuries.

Every now and then, the silence was broken by the low growls of zombies.

“Grrr…”

The team members without abilities drove the vehicles, while those with abilities got out to clear the obstacles. Everyone remained extremely cautious and did not dare let their guard down.

As they continued driving and clearing the road, their physical strength gradually began to wear down. They were afraid that if a large group of zombies suddenly appeared, they might not have enough strength left to deal with them.

“Everyone, stop here and rest. Eat lunch and recover your strength before we continue,” Gu Jingchuan ordered.

“Got it, Boss.”

They were completely exhausted.

They had only managed to cover half the distance that morning. For some reason, Gu Jingchuan had an uneasy feeling. There were more abandoned cars than zombies in this part of the city, which struck him as extremely strange.

That was why he wanted everyone to rest and recover properly. If they encountered any unexpected situation, they would be better prepared to handle it.

Just as Gu Jingchuan had suspected, there was a powerful zombie in the area.

This was its territory, and no other zombies dared to enter it. At that moment, it had been resting, but the arrival of Gu Jingchuan’s team had awakened it.

Standing at a high vantage point, it looked down at them with vigilance and hostility in its eyes.

Gu Jingchuan seemed to sense something. He looked around, but did not discover anything unusual.

He frowned as a sense of unease rose within him.

“Boss, what’s wrong?” Shen Pei noticed that something was off and asked with concern.

“It’s nothing.” Gu Jingchuan shook his head.

Perhaps he was simply too tense and imagining things.

After everyone finished eating, they continued their journey. They had only driven another five kilometers when they saw more than a dozen zombies blocking the road ahead.

For them, this was not a major problem. Luke and Cheng Qian quickly got out of the vehicle and prepared to deal with the zombies.

However, the situation changed the moment they began fighting.

What had originally been only a dozen or so zombies suddenly became more and more. At the same time, the sound of glass shattering echoed from the surrounding buildings.

One zombie after another fell from above and joined the battle.

“Not good, Boss! We’re surrounded by zombies!” Luke shouted.

Gu Jingchuan looked at the dense mass of zombies closing in from the distance, his brows tightly furrowed.

“Get the firearms and open up a path. Also, go support Cheng Qian and Luke.”

At that moment, Cheng Qian and Luke were trapped in the middle of the zombie horde and unable to break free. Fortunately, they were all low level zombies, so their lives were not in immediate danger.

What worried them was that once their strength was exhausted, they might no longer be able to break out.

Then they would truly be finished.

Cheng Qian cursed angrily.

“Where did all these zombies come from? This is insane. Are we really going to die here today?”

As he spoke, he swung his blade and decapitated a zombie before kicking another one that was rushing toward him, sending several zombies crashing to the ground.

“Why don’t you make your mouth even more cursed?” Luke snorted with a dark expression.

He controlled several metal weapons, sending them flying through the air and piercing through one zombie’s head after another.

Gu Jingchuan climbed onto the roof of a vehicle and observed their surroundings. Suddenly, he sensed that familiar gaze again.

He looked up and immediately met the eyes of the zombie watching them.

Gu Jingchuan instantly felt that this zombie was extremely dangerous. Its level was clearly higher than Level 1, and there was a good chance that everything happening here was connected to it.

He immediately raised his voice to warn everyone.

“There’s a zombie here that’s stronger than a Level 1 zombie, and it’s directing the others. Everyone, stay alert and be careful.”

“Damn it, why are we so unlucky?” Cheng Qian cursed when he heard this.

Zhang Hao, who possessed an earth ability, remained near the vehicles, killing zombies while using an earthen wall to protect one side of them.

Yang Fei, who possessed a speed ability, took a firearm and rushed over to support Cheng Qian and Luke.

Of the remaining four members without abilities, two stayed near the vehicles to fight the zombies, while the other two stood on top of the vehicles and fired their firearms.

Gu Jingchuan directed those firing to focus on a weak point and open up a path. Zombies fell in large numbers, but Cheng Qian and Luke were beginning to run low on energy, and sweat covered their foreheads.

Cheng Qian accepted the weapon Yang Fei handed him and grinned.

“You came at just the right time.”

He immediately began firing as well.

With their combined efforts, they finally broke through and returned to the vehicles.

Seeing this, the powerful zombie became enraged and prepared to come down.

Gu Jingchuan had been watching it from the corner of his eye. The moment it disappeared from sight, he immediately warned everyone.

“That powerful zombie is gone. It may have mixed in with the lower level zombies. Everyone, be careful.”

The other team members continued killing zombies while remaining alert to their surroundings.

Just then, the powerful zombie suddenly appeared among the zombie horde.

Zhang Hao immediately noticed that this zombie was different from the others, and alarm bells went off in his mind. He quickly launched several chunks of earth at it, but the zombie dodged every attack.

“Boss, the powerful zombie is over here!”

“Shen Pei, go help Zhang Hao.”

Shen Pei stood on top of a vehicle and fired at the zombie, trying to interfere with its movements. The powerful zombie dodged several potentially fatal shots, although one bullet struck its arm and another hit its leg.

The zombie let out an enraged roar and launched a full force attack.

Even Zhang Hao’s earthen defenses were shattered. His ability had already been completely exhausted, leaving him with no choice but to raise his blade as the powerful zombie lunged at him.

He was violently thrown into a vehicle, leaving a deep dent in its side.

Zhang Hao struggled to get back to his feet, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
