“No need. You guys just fought a tough battle yesterday, so stay home and rest. Don’t underestimate Xiaoxiao and me,” Meng Yu said.

Lu Xuan actually wanted to go. If everyone from their side left, only these newcomers would remain at home. They had only just met, and although these people seemed like decent people, he still felt it was better to stay behind and guard the house.

“We drank the medicinal water you gave us yesterday, and we feel great. There’s absolutely no problem,” Cheng Qian said. They were men, after all, and he could not possibly let them sit at home and freeload.Full novel: After Transmigrating Into an Apocalypse Novel and Slacking Off: The Female Lead Turns Out to Be My Best Friend! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It really would not look right for several grown men to stay home and rest while their hosts went out. Since they had already done their part as guests, Mu Xiaoxiao decided to let them go if they wanted to.

“All right, but there’s no need for too many people.”

“Luke and I will go,” Cheng Qian said with a grin.

Luke nodded beside him, thinking to himself, Did I ever say I wanted to go?!

In the end, the four of them got ready, drove out, and headed down the mountain, with Cheng Qian driving and the two men sitting in the front.

After they came down the mountain, they discovered that the road they had previously cleared was once again filled with zombies.

“We cleared this entire area before. There shouldn’t be this many zombies. Were there any here when you came yesterday?” Mu Xiaoxiao asked.

“There weren’t. I think the commotion we caused yesterday attracted them here afterward. It’s fine. Luke, take care of them,” Cheng Qian said.

Luke threw a flying knife, which pierced through a zombie’s head before flying back into his hand.

“It can even do that?” Mu Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise.

“He has a metal based ability. This kind of control is nothing to him,” Cheng Qian explained, secretly envious of Luke.

“I see,” Mu Xiaoxiao said knowingly.

“I didn’t expect you to be so skilled at controlling your abilities,” Meng Yu remarked.

“We train outside every day. Boss takes us out daily and makes us keep fighting until our abilities are completely exhausted before we return,” Cheng Qian explained.

Soon, they arrived at the shopping mall.

“Are we going inside?” Cheng Qian asked.

“Why are there fewer zombies here?” Mu Xiaoxiao asked suspiciously.

“They were probably attracted away yesterday.”

“Then let’s go here,” Meng Yu replied.

They parked the car and got out, immediately beginning to clear out the zombies. Several dozen low level zombies posed no threat to them. After dealing with them, they arrived at the entrance of the shopping mall.

The mall had five floors and was neither particularly large nor small. It had pretty much everything they needed.

Apart from the zombies, the floor was covered in dried bloodstains, while goods lay scattered everywhere in complete disarray. As the weather had grown hotter, a foul stench filled the air.

Meng Yu took out some masks.

“Do you need one?”

“Thanks. The smell really is awful.”

Cheng Qian accepted two masks and handed one to Luke.

Although wearing a mask was somewhat stuffy, it was still better than breathing in the stench.

The four of them headed toward the furniture section on the third floor.

They quietly made their way upstairs, doing their best not to attract the zombies’ attention.

Soon, they reached the third floor.

“Sister Yu, let’s split up,” Mu Xiaoxiao whispered.

“All right. Be careful.”

“I’ll go with Miss Mu, and Luke will go with Miss Meng,” Cheng Qian said.

Shen Pei had already told them yesterday that Miss Meng had a space that could be used to store supplies. Could Miss Mu have one too?

“All right. You can keep watch,” Mu Xiaoxiao agreed.

Most of this floor was filled with home textiles and appliances. Not many people usually came here, so there were not many zombies either.

Mu Xiaoxiao collected several down comforters, slippers, bedding sets, quilts, and other necessities, practically clearing out the entire section.

Because the extreme heat would eventually be followed by extreme cold, she wanted to prepare everything in advance.

As she continued collecting things, she began to feel hot. She took out a small handheld electric fan that she had happened to collect the last time they searched the appliance section.

Once she turned it on, a stream of air blew toward her. It was not particularly cool, but at least it made the stuffiness more bearable.

“Miss Mu, this thing is pretty good. I want one too,” Cheng Qian said with a grin.

“There’s only one. I happened to see it last time and collected it. Let’s check over there later and see if they have any more.”

Mu Xiaoxiao pointed toward the appliances across from them.

After collecting almost everything they needed, the two of them went to the appliance section. Several zombies wearing work uniforms were wandering around inside.

Mu Xiaoxiao and Cheng Qian each dealt with several of them.

Because the apocalypse had begun when the weather was neither particularly hot nor cold, fans and similar appliances had not been selling very well.

Meng Yu and Luke soon came over as well.

Mu Xiaoxiao stopped collecting appliances and let Meng Yu handle them instead. She focused on smaller items, such as hand warmers and portable heaters.

“Look what I found,” Cheng Qian said mysteriously.

“What?”

“Small electric fans and large ones. I found their warehouse.”

Cheng Qian grinned proudly, clearly waiting to be praised.

“Let’s go take a look,” Mu Xiaoxiao said happily.

There were many boxes inside. After opening a few, they saw labels indicating that they contained fans.

Apparently, the weather was about to heat up, so the mall had already received a shipment but had not yet brought the fans out onto the sales floor. Most of the stock was still sitting in the warehouse.

Mu Xiaoxiao collected everything into her space without hesitation.

Looking at the warehouse, where more than half of the goods had disappeared, Cheng Qian sighed.

“Having a space really is convenient. You can take everything you need in one go instead of making multiple trips, and it doesn’t tire you out.”

“Every ability has its own advantages. Look at me. All I can do is store things. At most, I’ll never have to worry about supplies, but I don’t have much combat ability. In the early stages, I can still fight low level zombies, but once the high level zombies appear later, I’ll only be able to wait for death. We still need people with offensive abilities like yours to protect themselves,” Mu Xiaoxiao analyzed.

“That’s true.”

“Xiaoxiao, we’ve almost finished collecting everything here. Let’s go check the supermarket on the basement level,” Meng Yu said as she walked over.

“We’re finished here too. Let’s go.”

The second floor sold clothes. Since they were already there, they searched that floor as well.

The first floor sold cosmetics and gold and silver jewelry. Although looking beautiful was not necessarily a good thing in the apocalypse, who did not want to have good skin?

Now that they had enough strength, these things did not matter much. Although Mu Xiaoxiao herself was not particularly strong, she had Meng Yu and the male lead, Gu Jingchuan, on her side. As long as their team became stronger, everyone in it could benefit.

She collected all the skincare products and cosmetics.

Seeing Mu Xiaoxiao collect so many cosmetics and skincare products, Cheng Qian secretly thought that it was a good thing she had a space. Without one, collecting all these things would be pointless.

Girls really could never escape their love of beauty, and Miss Mu was a beauty herself.

Meanwhile, Meng Yu went to look for jade and collected whatever she could find.

The two men focused on killing zombies.

Finally, they reached the basement level.

Because the basement was a supermarket, many people usually came there to buy groceries and shop, so there were quite a lot of zombies inside after the apocalypse began. The smell was also overwhelming, and Mu Xiaoxiao did not even want to go downstairs after catching a whiff of it.

The four of them cautiously threw an object downstairs to make some noise, attracting the zombies near the staircase toward them before quickly taking them down.

After reaching the basement, they arrived at the supermarket entrance.

There really were quite a lot of zombies inside. The group was already considering giving up and returning, mainly because the narrow space made it difficult for them to fight effectively.

“These zombies are nothing compared to what we faced before. Leave them to Luke and me,” Cheng Qian said confidently, patting his chest.

They had already been surrounded once before, and there had been even more zombies than this.

“All right. You two go ahead. I’ll support you from the side,” Mu Xiaoxiao said helplessly.

Mu Xiaoxiao took out an electric baton while everyone activated their abilities.

Meng Yu used her ice ability, and before the zombies could even react, several of them were already taken down.

Cheng Qian had tremendous strength, and he could crush a zombie’s head with a single strike.

Luke controlled his ability with incredible skill. His flying knives spun through the air, moving back and forth as they pierced through one zombie after another. However, using his ability consumed a great deal of energy, and Mu Xiaoxiao could not help feeling envious as she watched.

Soon, more than half of the zombies had been eliminated.

Inside one of the supermarket’s warehouses, a man whispered, “Did you hear that sound outside?”

The others looked at him.

“No. What happened? Are the zombies causing another disturbance outside?”

“No. It sounds like fighting.”

“Fighting? Someone else came here looking for trouble?”

People had come here before. Without exception, they either became food for the zombies or fled for their lives.
