“Ding, host’s awakening detected.”
“Ding, dual-type abilities detected in the host.”
Sang Jin’s head felt groggy. She vaguely heard a voice, and the violent impact of the car collision gradually faded as her consciousness returned. Looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings, Sang Jin realized she was in a dormitory, lying on a bed.
“Abilities? Who?”
Sang Jin felt a strange sense of unease. There was no one else here, so where had that voice come from?
“Hello, Host. I am your system, and my name is Gugu. Your current situation is that you have transmigrated into a novel!”
“Transmigrated into a novel?” As an avid web novel reader, Sang Jin naturally knew about the transmigration trope, but wasn’t this supposed to be fictional? She had actually caught the transmigration wave and transmigrated into a novel for real.
“That’s right, Host. You have recently transmigrated into I and My Boyfriend Brave the Apocalypse.”
“Damn, isn’t this the apocalypse novel I was reading last night? A virus developed by a mad scientist caused the apocalypse, and the male and female leads joined hands to survive it.”
Sang Jin had only read it last night. There was also a character named Sang Jin in the novel, a cannon fodder character. When the zombies first broke out, Sang Jin went with the female lead and their group to search for food, only to be dragged down by a useless teammate and die right at the beginning.
Sang Jin instantly felt like crying. She had already been planning to enjoy a leisurely life at the age of twenty-eight.
What was this? Did the heavens really have a problem with her just because she had finally quit her job? She now hated that old man who had deliberately caused the accident even more. She had just escaped the suffering of working, only to get into a car accident after being falsely accused by an old man and end up in this place.
“Ah, life is hard. Xiao Jin sighs.”
“System, are there any benefits? Normally, when someone transmigrates into a novel, shouldn’t the system give them some kind of reward?” Sang Jin climbed out of bed and walked toward the bathroom.
“Hmm, Host has already awakened a space-type ability and an ice-type ability. Gugu has upgraded the Host’s space-type ability, so the space is now very large. As for anything else, Host will find out later.”
“A space-type ability and an ice-type ability, not bad. An upgraded space is pretty good too.”
Sang Jin entered the bathroom and looked into the mirror. She had an oval face, fair and delicate skin, a pair of almond-shaped eyes filled with gentle allure, and lips as red as vermilion against pearly white teeth.
Hmm, it was still her own face. She was quite satisfied with that, after all, she had always been very pleased with her own appearance. Hmm, she was pretty satisfied with her figure too. Sang Jin looked at herself over again.
“Gugu, can you transfer the original host’s memories to me?”
“Yes.”
A large amount of memories immediately flooded into her mind.
“Then can I still return to my original world?” While digesting the memories, Sang Jin asked the question that concerned her most.
“No, Host. You already died in your original world, which is why you transmigrated here. You can no longer return.”
“Then what am I here for?” Surely she had not transmigrated here just to experience surviving the apocalypse.
“Host has a mission to complete. Gugu will issue missions for Host to accomplish. Completing them will earn rewards, while failing them will result in punishment.”
Sigh, it seemed she still could not escape the fate of being a wage slave.
“Ding, fifteen minutes remain until zombies appear at the school.”
Gugu’s electronic voice rang out. Sang Jin quickly left the bathroom and returned to her bed. Looking at her belongings, she thought about clearing out everything from the upper and lower bunks and storing it all in her space. She could sense that her space was enormous and could hold a great many things. As expected, it really had been upgraded by the system.
She stored away the clothes and snacks in her cabinet, along with the baseball bat she had forgotten to return.
Sang Jin calculated that the school was holding the closing ceremony of its sports meet in the auditorium today. Because she had a fever, she was resting in the dormitory, while most of the students were still in the auditorium, so there were very few people around the dormitory area. She decided to head to the school supermarket first.
The supermarket was only eight or nine minutes away from the dormitory, so there should still be about ten minutes before the zombies appeared.
Although there were uncertain factors inside the supermarket, there was not much food in the dormitory, only some snacks, which would not last long. Since the zombies had not appeared yet, she still had a chance. Once they appeared, things would not be so easy.
She opened the door. The dormitory corridor was eerily quiet, and it seemed that everyone had gone to the auditorium. She quickly ran downstairs and headed toward the supermarket.
