“Ah… help…”

A cry for help came from outside. Sang Jin looked up and peered through the glass door, only to see two people sprinting toward the supermarket with several zombies chasing after them.

Su Rui and the other two girls heard the commotion and came to the entrance as well. Although the zombies in the early stages were not particularly agile, watching them chase after people was still terrifying. Unlike the supermarket owner, these zombies were dressed in tattered clothes and covered in blood and mangled flesh. Some of them were so badly injured that their faces were almost impossible to make out.

The four girls stared outside. The two girls were still a considerable distance from the supermarket, but their movements had already slowed, and it was obvious that they were nearly out of strength.

Opening the door to save them was clearly impossible. There were several zombies, while there were only four girls on their side. Even if all four of them went out, they might not be able to save the two girls and could instead end up sacrificing themselves.

“Hurry! They’re so pitiful. Let’s go out and help them!” Liu Yiman said anxiously.

Sang Jin glanced at her but said nothing.

The female lead spoke up. “Yiman, there are too many zombies following them. There’s no way the few of us girls can handle this. In the end, we might not only fail to save them, but we might not even make it back ourselves.”

As expected of the female lead. At least she wasn’t brainless.

Sang Jin wondered what she would do if the female lead decided to go out and save them. After all, she had a mission to complete. Fortunately, the female lead did not disappoint her.

In the end, the two girls failed to make it to the supermarket. Their screams attracted even more zombies, and the four of them could only watch helplessly as the two girls fell into the zombies’ mouths, powerless to do anything.

After being devoured, their bodies were left mutilated, yet they still managed to get back on their feet and join the ranks of the zombies, wandering aimlessly along the road.

The four girls fell silent.

They had not expected the zombie outbreak to spread so quickly.

This was the apocalypse, so cruel and merciless, yet this was only the tip of the iceberg.

Sang Jin did not concern herself with their emotions. She found four small stools in a corner of the supermarket and sat down on one of them.

“Why don’t we form a team? I’ll join you, and together we can get out of the school.”

The other three girls soon sat down on the small stools as well.

“Sure, but how are we supposed to get out? There are so many zombies now, and staying here is still safer,” Wang Xuan said casually. Her mental resilience seemed pretty good.

“The supermarket isn’t safe either. Survivors will definitely come here sooner or later, and the food here isn’t enough to support too many people. We need to make plans early and leave as soon as possible.”

Sang Jin could not help admiring the female lead’s intelligence. No wonder she had become the female lead.

“Besides, once school falls, we’ll never be able to get out.”

“But the four of us girls still won’t be able to get out on our own. Sister Rui, where’s your handsome school-heartthrob boyfriend?”

Talk about asking exactly the right question. Liu Yiman had voiced the same question Sang Jin had been wondering about.

“Gugu, where’s the male lead?” Sang Jin silently asked the system in her mind.

“Host, the male lead is currently heading toward the supermarket. He is expected to arrive in two hours.”

“Shangguan Qi? He went to look for someone before the zombies broke out. Who knows where he is now? Whatever, we can manage on our own.”

Judging by that resentment, it seemed there really was something going on between the male and female leads.

“Let’s rest here for a while and stock up on supplies. We can observe the situation before leaving, and we can also see whether anyone else comes along. There’s strength in numbers, after all.”

Sang Jin first tried to calm Su Rui down.

“Hrr… hrr…”

The zombies suddenly became restless.

Three men and one woman appeared in the distance. The three men protected the woman, using their abilities while hacking at the zombies’ heads with kitchen knives.

Seeing the anxious look on the female lead’s face, there was no doubt that the man among them was the male lead.

At last, they reached the supermarket entrance. Sang Jin quickly opened the door and let them inside before locking it again, keeping the zombies outside.

“Ruirui.”

The young man at the front, dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans, called out to the female lead in a gentle voice, but Su Rui ignored him. She merely crossed her arms coldly, a stark contrast to the anxious expression she had worn earlier.

“Sister Ruirui, Brother Qi didn’t mean to leave you there. It’s just that I caught a cold and was alone in the dormitory, so I was scared. That’s why Brother Qi came to find me. Don’t be angry with Brother Qi.”

Sang Jin nearly rolled her eyes.

Just look at this little white flower persona.

“Gugu, what’s going on here?” Sang Jin asked. The novel had not explained the situation in detail, so she could only turn to the system for help.

According to the system, the simple version was this: there had always been a rumor at A University that the campus heartthrob had a white moonlight, but it was only a rumor, and no one had ever seen the legendary white moonlight.

Calling her a white moonlight was not entirely accurate, either. Lin Xin’er’s father had once saved the male lead’s father, and their families were also neighbors. Because of this, the male lead had been asked to look after Lin Xin’er.

The male and female leads had only recently gotten together. After Lin Xin’er returned from abroad, she would frequently find excuses to seek out the male lead. The female lead had endured it many times, but Lin Xin’er kept doing it again and again. Whenever the male lead refused to go, Lin Xin’er would cry pitifully and bring out her tried-and-true trump card, leaving the male lead with no choice but to go.

This time, the male and female leads had agreed to go to the auditorium first and then head out to watch a movie for a sweet date.

But once again, the male lead was called away by Lin Xin’er. She even deliberately took photos from certain angles and sent them to the female lead to provoke her.

Su Rui could not take it anymore and finally blew up, telling the male lead they were through. He refused to accept the breakup, and shortly afterward, the apocalypse broke out.

Sang Jin felt that it really was quite “simple.” It was the same old familiar formula.

“Gugu, what’s the punishment if I fail the mission?” Sang Jin asked the system timidly.

“Electric shocks or a mental attack, Host. You may choose either one! At present, the system recommends electric shocks.”

Sang Jin immediately felt as though her entire body was radiating light. As a good young woman and university student of the modern era, she carried an incredibly heavy responsibility on her shoulders for the sake of the mission… no, for the sake of the male and female leads’ future.

Could she really let this little white flower continue whining and crying?

Absolutely not.

Therefore, she was determined to bring the male and female leads back together.
