The sports coupe raced down the road, Ma Qingyu’s chest tight with suppressed anger as she drove recklessly. Every sharp turn or sudden brake sent Xiayun’s stomach churning, the discomfort of drunkenness rising within her. A dull ache pulsed in her abdomen.

The car shot through the villa’s large iron gate and screeched to a halt in the garage. Xiayun’s trembling hands fumbled with the seatbelt before she stumbled out, lurching toward a trash can. Doubled over, she vomited violently, dizziness overwhelming her. Cold sweat beaded at her temples, her face pale.

Ma Qingyu appeared beside her without a word, offering a tissue. Xiayun’s head spun, her sense of direction faltering as the alcohol’s delayed effects hit hard. Her legs gave way, the tissue slipping from her grasp as she collapsed into Ma Qingyu’s arms.Full novel: After transmigrating into the Book, I Just Want to Be a Salted Fish — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The omega’s faint scent enveloped Xiayun, the soft warmth of her body pressing close, silky strands of hair brushing against her ear.

Ma Qingyu froze for a moment before quickly recovering, a flicker of tenderness in her eyes as she steadied the taller yet fragile alpha with a hand on her waist.

Too disoriented to react immediately, Xiayun clumsily braced herself against the wall before taking the tissue to wipe her mouth. Confused, she crouched by the trash can, hugging herself tightly like a stray dog abandoned beside the bin, pitiful and lost.

Looking down at her, Ma Qingyu extended a hand and said softly, “Let’s go home.”

Xiayun obediently stood up, clinging to her hand and trailing behind like a shadow. Her doe-like eyes, glistening with childlike dependence, inexplicably murmured, “Sister.”

The docile voice sent a shiver through Ma Qingyu, who turned back in pleasant surprise. Ever since Xiayun grew up, she had refused to call her “sister,” stubbornly using her name directly despite scoldings from her father. Ma Qingyu thought she would never hear it again, but Xiayun’s drunken state had brought the memory back.

Feeling Ma Qingyu’s gaze, Xiayun blinked, her eyes clear and innocent, her M-shaped lips rosy and inviting.

Pretending not to have heard, Ma Qingyu leaned closer, “What did you call me?”

Xiayun’s cheeks flushed pink, her eyes reddening with unshed tears as she whimpered, “Sister, let’s go home.”

A slight smile touched Ma Qingyu’s lips as she led her inside, handing her a pair of slippers. “Change your shoes.”

Xiayun complied dutifully, following closely behind before puckering her lips and sweetly calling out again, “Sister.”

She had no idea what she was doing, utterly drunk.

Ma Qingyu poured a glass of cold water and turned to see Xiayun acting coyly toward her. Her smile deepened, her heart bubbling with affection. So adorable, who says alphas have to be all tough and cool?

In high spirits, she brought the water to Xiayun. “Drink this.”

Che Xiayun took the glass of water and gulped it down in one go, even licking the droplets from her lips like a child. Though she had grown into a strikingly handsome woman, the gesture now carried a seductive allure, irresistibly tempting, almost enough to drive one to sin.

Ma Qingyu’s gaze fixed on Che Xiayun’s lips. Her fingers twitched slightly, her emotions swaying with the motion of that tongue. Unbidden, improper thoughts began to surface in her mind.

After finishing the water, Che Xiayun suddenly clutched her stomach, bending over with a pained expression. Her face turned pale as she looked pitifully at Ma Qingyu, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance, “Sister, I feel unwell.”

Ma Qingyu hurried to her side, steadying her by the shoulders and checking the temperature at her temples. “Where does it hurt?”

Che Xiayun lifted her shirt, guiding Ma Qingyu’s hand to her well-defined abdomen. Her innocent, deer-like eyes gazed up pleadingly. “It hurts here. Please rub it for me.”

Ma Qingyu felt the taut muscles of Che Xiayun’s stomach and resisted the urge to lean in for a closer look. Swallowing hard, she applied slight pressure with her palm, gently massaging the area.

It felt more like caressing than rubbing, as massaging the stomach of someone standing was rather awkward.

Che Xiayun guided her hand upward along her toned abs to the more sensitive area of her stomach. “It hurts here. Rub it, please.”

Ma Qingyu’s fingers brushed against her ribs and even the edge of her undergarments. An alpha’s skin was just as soft, smooth, and elastic, warm and silky to the touch like polished jade.

She glanced downward, the crooked shirt no longer concealed Che Xiayun’s collarbones. Since things had already gone this far, surely touching them wouldn’t be too much, would it?

Che Xiayun leaned softly against Ma Qingyu, looking utterly adorable.

Ma Qingyu steadied her by the collar, her fingers working the remaining buttons open. She nudged Che Xiayun toward the corner, pressing her against the wall, one knee sliding between her legs as she leaned in, half-pinning her down.

Pinned against the cold wall, Che Xiayun felt uncomfortable and squirmed slightly, letting out a soft, breathy gasp. The dizziness in her head gradually faded, replaced by a throbbing headache.

Ma Qingyu tugged her shirt down to her chest, fully exposing her collarbones and pale shoulders.

She brushed aside the long hair cascading over Che Xiayun’s chest, her fingertips lightly tracing the collarbones, carefully following the contours of bone and sinew.

The two guards on duty tactfully turned away. Since their young mistress hadn’t called for help or screamed, the situation was clearly still within acceptable bounds nothing out of the ordinary.

Che Xiayun’s drunkenness was slowly wearing off, and her rationality was returning. Though she couldn’t recall what had happened while she was drunk, her current predicament left her flustered and utterly bewildered, unsure how to react.

Ma Qingyu grew bolder, her fingers gliding to the side of the alpha’s neck, finding the edge of the inhibitor patch. She lifted a corner, burying her face in Che Xiayun’s neck and taking a gentle whiff. A faint, refreshing scent with a hint of sweetness, the distinct aroma of citrus esters lingered in the air, utterly captivating.

But as an extremely sensitive 3S-level omega, the moment she caught the alpha’s pheromones, her legs had already begun to weaken, and a faint warmth spread through her body.

Che Xiayun froze for a moment. How could there be such an omega who pushed her luck so far? Not only had she touched her all over, but she even attempted to violate her sacred gland, it was absolutely outrageous!

Ma Qingyu, drawn by the source of the fragrance, unconsciously lifted the inhibitor patch. Her fingertips brushed against the alpha’s sacred gland soft, warm, and slightly damp.

Che Xiayun shuddered violently, pushing her away abruptly. She hastily straightened her clothes, covering her gland protectively, and glared at her fiercely, her voice trembling, “What are you doing?!”

Ma Qingyu stared at her with burning intensity.

She was just one step away from truly discovering the scent of Che Xiayun’s pheromones. That faint, sweet trace of alpha pheromones stubbornly lingered at the tip of her nose, igniting a deep curiosity within her.

Che Xiayun couldn’t stand that kind of gaze. All the harsh words she had prepared got stuck in her throat. She closed her eyes briefly, turned away, and began fastening her buttons.

Ma Qingyu moved behind her, standing so close she could catch a faint whiff, though it wasn’t clear enough. She pleaded softly, “Can I smell your pheromones?”

Che Xiayun turned around, giving her a cool glance, and shook her head with an air of pride. “No.”

Ma Qingyu fell silent for a moment.

Che Xiayun appeared calm on the surface, but inside, she was panicking. As soon as she felt it was time to leave, she immediately took a step forward, brushing past her.

As Che Xiayun passed by, the breeze carried another wave of her pheromones. Ma Qingyu’s gland surged with heat, her face flushed crimson. She turned and grabbed Che Xiayun’s arm, struggling to stay upright, her voice tinged with desperation. “Why?”

Che Xiayun pretended to be annoyed and shook her off, crossing her arms. “No means no. There’s no reason why.”

A flicker of disappointment crossed Ma Qingyu’s eyes. She retreated to lean against the wall, no longer able to stand. Slumping weakly to the floor, she fought to suppress the overwhelming heat coursing through her body. Covering her gland to prevent her pheromones from leaking, she gasped softly, “Just go.”

Che Xiayun sensed something was wrong and glanced at her before leaving. But after a few steps, she grew even more uneasy. Worried, she turned back and asked, “Are you okay?”

Ma Qingyu didn’t dare look up, nor did she have the strength to respond. Her entire body was burning up, her eyes red-rimmed. An indescribable heat engulfed every cell, making her gasp and moan softly. Her omega pheromones broke through the faltering inhibitor patch and spilled out.

Receiving no reply, Che Xiayun took a closer look at her. The sight startled her, why was she as red as if she’d been scorched by fire? Could it be a high fever? But a fever wouldn’t strike so suddenly and intensely, would it?

As she pondered, a term suddenly popped into her mind: omega heat cycle!

Che Xiayun hurried toward her, keeping a few steps away, and called out loudly, “Hey, where do you keep your suppressants? I’ll get them for you.”

Ma Qingyu lifted her gaze slightly, her chest heaving violently. Surrounded by the scent of her omega pheromones, she tried to speak but couldn’t make a sound.

Che Xiayun thought she had said something and was utterly confused, wondering if her ears were failing her. “Huh? What did you say? I didn’t catch that.”

Ma Qingyu couldn’t be bothered to respond, even closing her eyes, mainly because she lacked the strength.

Che Xiayun moved closer, crouching down and turning sideways to face her. “I really didn’t hear you. Say it again, and I’ll go get it for you.”

Ma Qingyu glanced up at her. Thinking she was about to speak, Che Xiayun immediately leaned in. “I’m listening.”

In her current state, Ma Qingyu was overly sensitive to alpha pheromones. Even the faint trace lingering on Che Xiayun’s hair was enough to draw her in. As Che Xiayun, a walking vessel of potent alpha pheromones, approached, Ma Qingyu could no longer restrain herself. A surge of strength erupted within her, and she pinned Che Xiayun to the floor.

A fresh, vibrant omega pheromone slightly sweet, slightly sour, with a hint of bitterness washed over Che Xiayun. Ma Qingyu’s pheromones carried the scent of sweet lemons. Unlike ordinary lemons, sweet lemons weren’t intensely sour or overly sweet. They were juicy and fragrant.

Che Xiayun’s head was cushioned by Ma Qingyu’s hands, so it didn’t hit the floor, but her back landed with a solid thud, producing a dull thump.

Auntie Xu, who slept in a guest room on the first floor, was a light sleeper. Hazily hearing the thud, she grew curious and quickly got out of bed. Pushing her door open, she glanced toward the living room.

What she saw startled her.

From her perspective, it looked like Ma Qingyu had pinned Che Xiayun to the floor and was kissing her, the two tangled together intimately.

A bright smile spread across Auntie Xu’s lips, but soon worry crept in. Wasn’t the floor cold? What if they caught a cold?

With that thought, she called out from a distance, “Young Master, Madam, sorry to disturb you, but the floor is quite chilly. The bedroom has a carpet, it would be much more comfortable.”

Hearing Auntie Xu’s words, Che Xiayun didn’t find them bothersome at all. Instead, a wave of relief washed over her. She quickly covered her scent gland tightly. “Wait, Auntie Xu, don’t leave yet. Go to Ma Qingyu’s bedroom and bring her suppressants.”

Auntie Xu paused, somewhat puzzled, but complied. “Alright.”

Ma Qingyu also heard the exchange between Che Xiayun and Auntie Xu and grew calmer, quietly resting against Che Xiayun, allowing the heat to consume her while resisting the urge to inhale even a trace of alpha pheromones from her.

Auntie Xu quickly returned with the suppressants. Che Xiayun took them and glanced at her. Auntie Xu smiled knowingly. “Young Master, I’ll go back to sleep now.”

Che Xiayun nodded. “Mm.”

Ma Qingyu, eyes half-closed and silent, allowed Che Xiayun to help her sit up, leaning against her front, her nape conveniently within the alpha’s reach.

Che Xiayun handed the suppressants to her but inadvertently caught a glimpse of her lips red and glistening. She quickly averted her gaze. “Do it yourself. I won’t peek.”

Heat suppressants needed to be injected precisely into the scent gland, but Ma Qingyu currently had no strength and couldn’t see her own gland. If she missed, it would be problematic.

Her head bowed, Ma Qingyu handed the suppressants back to Che Xiayun. Overwhelmed by the heat, every cell in her body craved alpha pheromones. Her voice carried a note of urgency and pleading. “Help me.”

Clueless Che Xiayun thought she was just being overly dramatic. Frowning, she wondered, What’s there to be fussy about at a time like this? Despite her thoughts, she still agreed, “Alright.”

Gripping the syringe of the inhibitor, Che Xiayun swiftly brushed aside the strands of hair at the nape of Ma Qingyu’s neck, tore off the inhibitor patch, took a couple of deep breaths, and aimed the needle at the omega’s small, red, and swollen gland. Mentally estimating the appropriate depth for the injection, she steadied the syringe and administered the inhibitor into the gland with precise, textbook-perfect movements.

Done. As expected of her, after all those lab mice she’d injected in the past, a mere inhibitor was a piece of cake.

A slight sting, a bit of swelling, but it eased the overwhelming heat coursing through Ma Qingyu’s body. Exhausted, she leaned against Che Xiayun’s shoulder, eyes closed, waiting for the inhibitor to take full effect.

After administering the injection, Che Xiayun observed the omega’s gland with curiosity, evaluating it from a biologist’s rigorous perspective. This thing must be a highly unique sexual organ, rich in capillaries and nerve cells, extremely sensitive, and equipped with some unknown secretory gland capable of producing corresponding pheromones.

During the heat cycle, it became red and swollen, somewhat resembling an inflammatory reaction. A slight secretion on the surface likely served to lubricate, disinfect, and stop bleeding. It was quite remarkable that not a drop of blood had appeared during the injection, as if there were no wound at all. Based on this, she speculated that even with a temporary mark biting to break the skin there would be no infection or bleeding.

While Che Xiayun stared intently at Ma Qingyu’s gland, the omega’s inner turmoil had already grown quite intense.

Ma Qingyu bit her lower lip lightly, her expression uneasy. She could clearly feel the alpha’s scorching gaze fixed on her highly private gland, evoking a sense of shame and embarrassment that made her unable to face Che Xiayun.

If she hadn’t been too weak to move, Che Xiayun would have already been slapped. For an alpha to stare so blatantly at an omega’s gland was not only impolite but also downright lecherous especially to Ma Qingyu, who was currently in heat and emotionally vulnerable.

After examining the omega’s gland, Che Xiayun suddenly grew curious about what her own gland looked like. She handed her phone to Ma Qingyu, turned her back to her, and said enthusiastically, “Take a picture of my gland for me.”

Similarly, an alpha voluntarily exposing their gland in front of an omega was also considered inappropriate behavior, a act that could disgust the omega.

Ma Qingyu was so exasperated she almost laughed. First, she had to endure having her own gland scrutinized, and now she was being asked to look at the alpha’s gland? And before all this, Che Xiayun hadn’t even allowed her to catch a whiff of her pheromones. What was she trying to pull?

Poor Che Xiayun remained completely oblivious. She shoved the phone into Ma Qingyu’s hand, parted her own hair to expose her alpha gland right in front of the omega, and urged, “Come on, just one picture.”

Mustering her strength, Ma Qingyu threw the phone back into Che Xiayun’s arms, aimed for the alpha’s vulnerable gland, and bit down in a fit of rage.

“Ah! Stop, it hurts, it hurts.” The sudden assault on her gland felt like it had been bitten through, bleeding, damp, and so painful. Che Xiayun leaped up, hopping in place two or three times, tears pattering down as she glared at Ma Qing Yu, “What are you doing?!”

Ma Qing Yu smiled silently. The moment she bit down, the taste of an alpha’s pheromones spread between her lips and teeth, a refreshingly sweet, explosively fragrant, and exhilarating kumquat flavor, one she loved dearly.

But after the impulse faded, seeing Che Xiayun’s pitiful expression, her own heart ached in sympathy, the pain making it impossible for her to force a smile any longer.
