Shen Zhiwei watched Mo Rubai, who was sprawled limply on the bed, with cold eyes.
This version of Mo Rubai seemed no different from how he had been in the past.
Rotting into a pile of mud, truly utterly unsightly. A man in heat was just plain disgusting…
Back at “The Third Level,” Mo Rubai had clearly had two women right by his side, yet this fellow had pitifully latched onto him instead…
Shen Zhiwei had forgotten that compared to complete strangers he had just met, a martial uncle from the same sect naturally seemed a bit more reliable, even if this “martial uncle” was usually not very nice to him.
“Junior Uncle~ Why are you ignoring me?”
Mo Rubai’s tone seemed to have shifted somewhat.
Before Shen Zhiwei even had time to react, his entire arm was grabbed tightly, and the next instant, he was flipped right over onto the bed!
Mo Rubai, straddling his waist, stared down at him with bloodshot eyes brimming with raw desire…
“Get the hell off me!” Seeing Mo Rubai grinding against his thighs while sitting on him, Shen Zhiwei’s face turned ashen as he delivered a vicious palm strike straight to the back of Mo Rubai’s neck.
Mo Rubai let out a muffled grunt and collapsed flat across his body.
Shen Zhiwei’s expression darkened further. After shoving that fluffy, heavy head away, he delivered a ruthless kick that sent the man flying straight into the corner of the bed.
Had Mo Rubai truly grown a pair of bear’s guts and a leopard’s heart to dare pull such a stunt on him?
Why was it that when he had once suffered from aphrodisiac poisoning, he had been left completely limp and powerless on the bed, yet Mo Rubai still had all this excess energy to spare?
“You… aren’t you going to do something about him?” A tiny voice piped up from inside Shen Zhiwei’s spirit beast pouch.
Reaching into his pouch, Shen Zhiwei hauled a small black snake straight out by the tail. “You can talk?”
“That’s right,” the little snake wiggled its body. “You saved my life, so from now on, you and he are both my masters!”
Who this “he” referred to, Shen Zhiwei didn’t even need to guess.
A spiritual pet voluntarily recognizing a master was normally a good thing, but why would it want to take on an extra one? Could this snake possibly know that Mo Rubai was its destined master?
“Aren’t you going to save him?” The little snake tilted its head. “He looks like he’s about to die.”
Crouched in the corner, Mo Rubai had curled up into a tiny ball, looking exceptionally pitiful.
Shen Zhiwei didn’t even blink an eye. “Relax, he won’t die. By the way, what’s your name?”
“My name is A Cheng! In the future, I’m going to ride the wind, break the waves, and soar straight up to the clouds!”
Shen Zhiwei looked at the tiny snake coiled around his wrist. “Snakes can’t fly.”
Then again, it was hard to say for sure. This snake was clearly still so young, yet it could already articulate human speech; given time, it was bound to achieve great things.
True to being the male protagonist’s mount and spiritual pet—though it belonged to him now.
“Are you really not going to save him?” A Cheng asked with deep anxiety. “If he dies, I’ll only have one master left.”
If he truly sat back and ignored him, this snake might just keep nagging until Mo Rubai finally regained consciousness.
“Fine, I’ll save him.”
Thus, A Cheng watched wide-eyed as its master had someone deliver a large wooden barrel of steaming, biting cold water. A Cheng’s tail cautiously poked the water to test it, and the entire snake shuddered three times!
“Cold, it’s freezing A Cheng to death! So cold!” A Cheng whispered anxiously, “What are you doing with this?”
“Didn’t you ask me to save him?” Shen Zhiwei walked over to the bed, hauled Mo Rubai out from the corner by his collar, and proceeded to strip off his clothes piece by piece…
A Cheng couldn’t help using the tip of its tail to cover its eyes, yet it couldn’t resist peeking. However, the scene it had anticipated didn’t happen, because it watched as Shen Zhiwei hoisted Mo Rubai up and tossed him straight into the barrel!
“What, what, what are you doing?!” A Cheng instinctively coiled tighter. “Is this how you save people?”
Ah well, and here it thought it was going to get a good show.
Shen Zhiwei cast a sidelong glance at the snake. “Yes, saving people.”
Inside the wooden tub, even if Mo Rubai’s consciousness wasn’t entirely clear yet, the shock of the freezing water jolted him awake.
No matter how deep the aphrodisiac poison was, getting a soak in water this cold was more than enough to snap anyone back to their senses.
He just wondered if Mo Rubai’s nether regions would end up frozen into uselessness.
“I… Achoo…” Mo Rubai tried to push himself up, but Shen Zhiwei pressed a hand firmly down on his shoulder, his voice trembling as he asked, “J-Junior Uncle, what are you doing to me?”
Shen Zhiwei stated flatly, “It’s not what I am doing to you, it’s what you were trying to do to me.”
Shen Zhiwei’s words made Mo Rubai’s pale, frost-bitten face turn even uglier. What had he actually done?
He had shamelessly rubbed and ground himself against another man, and even tried to go further—if he hadn’t passed out, who knew what else he might have done… Moreover, that person happened to be Zhenren Lingzhi, whom he secretly despised.
“Remember now?” Shen Zhiwei let out a light hmph. “Then stay in there and soak a bit longer. I’m afraid you aren’t fully awake yet.”
With no other choice, Mo Rubai had no option but to circulate his internal spiritual energy to protect certain sensitive areas; otherwise, if they really froze off, he would be in deep trouble.
Watching Mo Rubai sit in silence, Shen Zhiwei suddenly felt a wave of inspiration. Ever since arriving in this world, he had only managed to take two proper baths…
The moment Mo Rubai finished regulating his breathing and opened his eyes, he saw another wooden tub set up right beside him, and Zhenren Lingzhi was currently standing with his back to him, unfastening his robes.
It wasn’t his first time seeing Zhenren Lingzhi’s bare back, but given what had just transpired, no matter how he looked at it now, everything felt distinctly bizarre.
Just as Zhenren Lingzhi reached to pull down his trousers, Mo Rubai whipped around in a panic, but his movement was too abrupt, splashing a loud wave of water. Several droplets flew across the air and landed straight on Shen Zhiwei’s skin.
Feeling a prickle of cold across his scalp, Shen Zhiwei turned his head with a frown of displeasure. “What are you doing?”
Stiff-bodied, Mo Rubai stammered dryly, “I—I am clearing my mind.”
Refusing even to glance at him—was it because he felt guilty from doing something wrong?
They were only a few drops of water, and Shen Zhiwei wasn’t about to make an issue of it with Mo Rubai. With a sigh, he hurried to submerge himself in the soothing, warm water.
Meanwhile, A Cheng huddled away in the corner, sighing despondently. Pity poor little snake; these two masters of his completely failed to notice its existence.
After finishing his bath, Shen Zhiwei dressed neatly, picked up A Cheng, dropped a casual “I am returning to the Cangqiong Sect,” and simply walked out the door.
Left behind in the tub, Mo Rubai was left speechless and choking on his words.
With no other option, Mo Rubai could only shiver as he slowly dressed himself. Only after his body temperature returned to normal did he head down to check out of the room.
Because Zhenren Lingzhi hadn’t left any money behind, and the room they had requested was a top-tier suite, Mo Rubai had no choice but to grit his teeth and fork over a piece of middle-grade spirit stone.
Was Zhenren Lingzhi doing this on purpose?
Shen Zhiwei certainly hadn’t done it on purpose; he had simply forgotten, because a major crisis had erupted back at the Cangqiong Sect requiring his immediate return.
It wasn’t until Mo Rubai trudged all the way back to the Cangqiong Sect that he finally discovered what had happened.
The seal of the Demon Realm had cracked open!
The defense of the Demon Realm’s seal had always been the responsibility of the Cangqiong Sect, given that the northwest region used to be the ancestral nest of the demon race.
However, before Mo Rubai even reached his quarters, he was intercepted.
“Mo Rubai, you are wildly audacious and utterly lawless. Not only did you engage in illicit rendezvous with that person, but you even dared to steal a celestial herb,” Xie Long羽 sneered. “Come along, I’m taking you to receive your punishment!”
Mo Rubai’s expression sank instantly. “Did Zhenren Lingzhi say that I stole the celestial herb?”
