Shui Ruyue wasn’t sure whether Fu Qingzhi had seen what was inside the package. All she knew was that she wished the ground would open up so she could crawl into it.
Her face flushed bright red in an instant, like a cooked shrimp.
The moment she lowered her head, she missed the flicker of dark fire that flashed through Fu Qingzhi’s eyes.
Still, Fu Qingzhi had no intention of forcing Shui Ruyue to do anything she didn’t want to do, so she remained silent.
However, her gaze clearly told Shui Ruyue to keep opening the packages. One after another, Shui Ruyue unwrapped the small parcels, only to find items that were increasingly embarrassing to look at.
What exactly did the Shui family think the original owner was?
Even if she and Fu Qingzhi were technically still married, wasn’t this a little too… intense right from the start?
As she continued opening package after package, her face grew hotter and hotter. Finally, among the collection of indecent items, she spotted a familiar white bottle.
Massage oil.
Her eyes lit up immediately. Since she had given Fu Qingzhi massages before to help her relax, this at least sounded believable.
Picking up the small bottle, Shui Ruyue gently waved it in front of Fu Qingzhi.
“Massage oil! I know you’re always working overtime and staying up late, so I bought this to help you relax.”
Fu Qingzhi glanced at the bottle, and memories of Shui Ruyue’s gentle, tingling massage from last time surfaced almost instinctively. She nodded before she realized it.
“All right.”
Relieved that Fu Qingzhi hadn’t questioned her explanation, Shui Ruyue became even more diligent with the massage.
Though Fu Qingzhi was tall, her waist was slender and her figure surprisingly delicate—a complete contrast to the cold, commanding aura she always carried.
Warm, soft hands glided over smooth skin.
Fu Qingzhi’s heartbeat unconsciously quickened. Someone who normally suffered from severe insomnia found her eyes drifting shut before long.
Shui Ruyue worked for quite a while. Only after Fu Qingzhi’s breathing became slow and even did she finally stop.
She stuffed everything Jiang Yan had sent underneath the bed.
As if I’d ever use any of this! I’m a straight woman!
After cleaning herself up, Shui Ruyue carefully tried to slip onto the bed without disturbing Fu Qingzhi.
Instead, a long arm suddenly hooked around her waist and pulled her into an embrace.
She crashed into a warm, soft body with an incredible figure.
Fu Qingzhi’s arms were long enough to restrain her effortlessly.
Is she dreaming about something?
Shui Ruyue didn’t dare move.
If she woke Fu Qingzhi now, all the effort she’d put into winning her favor would go to waste.
With Fu Qingzhi’s arms loosely wrapped around her slim waist, Shui Ruyue quietly pulled out her phone and opened the chat with the mysterious Big Boss.
The profile picture was completely black.
The username was simply:
Big Boss.
The boss of Xingzhi Company really is straightforward.
Her eyes drifted downward to their previous conversation. She’d assumed the other party wouldn’t reply, yet there was a new message waiting for her.
It contained only a single sentence:
“Let’s meet when we have the chance.”
“Huh?”
Shui Ruyue nearly jumped with excitement.
The instant she moved, the person beside her tightened her embrace, pulling her firmly against her.
“Mm… It hurts!”
She couldn’t help letting out a soft cry.
Fu Qingzhi seemed not to hear her at all and hugged her even tighter.
Just when Shui Ruyue thought she was about to be squeezed to death, Fu Qingzhi suddenly loosened her arms again, leaving only a gentle embrace.
Shui Ruyue let out a quiet sigh of relief, burrowed under the blanket, and continued chatting with the Big Boss.
But before she could type anything, another message arrived.
“Earlier, when you said you wanted to leave Fu Qingzhi… were you serious?”
Under the darkness of the blanket, Shui Ruyue’s fingers froze.
So the Big Boss really did see the message I withdrew…
Is this some kind of test to see whether I’m sincere?
Although it wasn’t ideal to discuss personal matters, there wasn’t really anything worth hiding about her one-month marriage with Fu Qingzhi.
“It’s true! Don’t worry. I’ll definitely cooperate with your company sincerely—for the sake of our future partnership, too.”
The other party fell silent again.
Shui Ruyue repeatedly tapped her screen.
Is my phone broken? Or is this person just messing with me? They tricked me into talking, then disappeared? Do I really look that gullible?
“Big Boss?”
A while later, another message appeared.
“So, what did you want from me?”
After nearly half a minute, the reply finally came.
“We’ve received that shipment. There are no issues with it.”
Shui Ruyue was overjoyed.
She desperately wanted to ask when the payment would arrive.
At that moment, Jin Meimei sent her an invoice. However, the goods still had to be inspected and approved before payment could be processed, which would probably take another ten days or so.
Though a little disappointed, Shui Ruyue held herself back.
At least Fu Qingzhi would continue letting her stay for another ten days.
That meant she’d finally have money. Once Fu Qingzhi honored their agreement and let her leave, she’d at least have enough to support herself.
That night…
Fu Qingzhi didn’t pull Shui Ruyue into her arms again.
Shui Ruyue slept soundly under her own blanket on the other side of the bed.
The next morning, Shui Ruyue assumed Fu Qingzhi had already left for work.
She was just about to get up and sneak off to her little company.
The moment she opened her eyes, however, she found that Fu Qingzhi had already washed up and gotten dressed.
She was wearing a pale pink-and-white dress.
Her long black hair flowed freely over her shoulders, and her fair skin seemed to glow beneath the morning sunlight.
Shui Ruyue stared in complete amazement.
Her heart skipped two beats.
She’s so beautiful…
She had to admit that aside from Fu Qingzhi’s usual icy demeanor, with just a little effort she looked every bit like the perfect, unattainable first love.
Seeing Shui Ruyue staring at her like that unexpectedly eased Fu Qingzhi’s gloomy mood.
“Hurry and get up. It’s time for us to leave.”
“O-Okay!”
Shui Ruyue quickly agreed, throwing back the blanket to get dressed.
Wait…
Where are we going?
She froze halfway through changing out of her pajamas.
Sitting on the bed, her hair was adorably messy, and her fluffy sleepwear had become slightly disheveled.
She looked unbelievably easy to bully.
Nothing like the woman who had confidently messaged yesterday that she was definitely going to leave Fu Qingzhi.
The corners of Fu Qingzhi’s lips curved upward ever so slightly.
“We’re going back to the Fu family estate.”
“Our home.”
