Ye Wu possessed a certain streak of mischievous humor.
Looking at the clothing styles Song Shimiao had picked out, it was obvious that many of them were not her usual style.
Let alone her twenty-six-year-old self, even her eighteen-year-old self would never wear them!
I am not wearing these. Song Shimiao raised her hands to make a large cross, firmly refusing the cute little dress with a hemline covered in floral prints.
Just try it on.
Although she knew that acting spoiled toward Ye Wu was a perfectly normal thing for her to do, Song Shimiao still couldn’t help getting goosebumps all over as she heard it.
In Song Shimiao’s mind, Ye Wu only ever acted spoiled when she wanted to disgust her, and that kind of behavior usually came accompanied by sarcastic, backhanded remarks.
Song Shimiao couldn’t help but wonder: how on earth did her twenty-six-year-old self ever get used to this?
If the eighteen-year-old Song Shimiao had acted spoiled like that around her, she probably wouldn’t have been able to stop herself from asking, Is your brain broken? No… she definitely would have had to replace that probably with ” definitely.
No way! Absolutely not. You make her wear it.
But isn’t she you?
No! Song Shimiao’s heart was as hard as iron. Unless you wear one too.
Of course I can. Ye Wu immediately flashed a victorious smile.
Song Shimiao’s vision went black for a moment, knowing full well that she had still fallen right into Ye Wu’s trap.
True to form, Ye Wu wouldn’t normally resist wearing a dress like this anyway, and besides, her skin was much thicker.
Don’t worry, it’s no big deal, Ye Wu said with a smile. She had already swiftly selected the outfits for both of them, once again, the same style in different colors.
Once they finished changing, Ye Wu dragged Song Shimiao straight to the dressing room.
Song Shimiao: ……
Does this count as coming prepared? Song Shimiao asked out of curiosity.
Not really, it was just a spur-of-the-moment idea. Sitting nearby, Ye Wu glanced at Song Shimiao through the mirror.
Truth be told, if Ye Wu only relied on her memories for comparison, she felt that Song Shimiao hadn’t changed all that dramatically over the past eight years.
However, with her eighteen-year-old self suddenly appearing by her side, as the person who spent every waking moment with Song Shimiao year in and year out, Ye Wu was still able to catch many subtle differences.
The eighteen-year-old Song Shimiao was much more straightforward.
Perhaps it was because before they got together, the two of them were simply too direct with one another, causing them to speak much more cautiously and tactfully after they actually became a couple. Of course, most people would typically refer to this as smoothing out the rough edges and mutual accommodation after falling in love.
Ye Wu figured that if the eighteen-year-old Song Shimiao were to find out that her twenty-six-year-old self was still pondering over what constitutes the most comfortable way to get along, she would probably be laughed at.
Yet, upon second thought, the art of getting along with people was inherently a topic of endless discussion.
Why do you keep staring at me?
Song Shimiao had already glanced at Ye Wu several times, using her eyes to signal her to stop staring, but Ye Wu stubbornly continued as she pleased.
I just want to look. Ye Wu answered righteously.
Song Shimiao: ……
Song Shimiao closed her eyes, deciding to stop looking at the mirror altogether.
The twenty-six-year-old Ye Wu was still just as unreasonable as ever.
How terrifying that she actually thought this was completely normal!
Song Shimiao rarely wore such extravagant dresses; the last time she wore one must have been during the school’s coming-of-age ceremony… Speaking of the coming-of-age ceremony, Song Shimiao suddenly remembered that because her dress happened to match Ye Wu’s in color, a deskmate had even asked if the two of them had secretly planned it.
Hearing that question had left Song Shimiao deeply shaken.
She constantly failed to comprehend what was going on inside her deskmate’s head.
Yet, being transported here to the age of twenty-six and witnessing the current situation between her and Ye Wu, she couldn’t help but overthink things.
Was the dress you wore at your coming-of-age ceremony deliberately chosen to match mine? Song Shimiao asked.
Ye Wu: ?
I always thought you were the one who purposely picked the same color as me.
Song Shimiao opened her eyes and cast a thoughtful look at Ye Wu.
You’re so narcissistic. Catching that look, Ye Wu quickly grasped what she meant.
I think this can only be considered a reasonable deduction.
In reality, it was just a coincidence. And if it wasn’t a coincidence, the only other explanation is that you did it on purpose. Ye Wu continued.
The two of them exchanged gazes, neither willing to back down.
The makeup artist felt a sudden urge to laugh, but managed to hold it in.
By the time Song Shimiao and Ye Wu finished their makeup, the photographer Ye Wu had booked had already arrived.
I haven’t even gone back yet, and we’re already taking pictures to commemorate? Song Shimiao whispered.
Who knows when you’ll leave? The sooner we take them, the better, Ye Wu replied. I’m even planning to film a vlog so that she can appreciate it together when she comes back.
Song Shimiao: ……
Watching her eighteen-year-old self make a fool of herself alongside her twenty-six-year-old self?
Song Shimiao could not comprehend this logic.
Was this planned out? Several black lines appeared across Song Shimiao’s forehead.
Didn’t you already know? Ye Wu smiled.
Song Shimiao froze for a second, realizing that she did indeed know. After all, from her perspective, it was simply a matter of having filmed something at eighteen, only to wait until she was twenty-six to watch it.
She slapped herself lightly on the forehead.
However, this also led to a side conclusion: she had known about it all along, yet she didn’t try to stop it, or perhaps she also knew that stopping it was impossible.
Song Shimiao felt the urge to complain once more.
She suddenly wanted to write a letter to her twenty-six-year-old self, except that her twenty-six-year-old self would already know everything she intended to write in that letter.
This feeling of having nowhere to vent one’s complaints was truly unpleasant.
