They used the same method—one person supported while the other fed water and medicine, then applied cooling patches.
They went to the next room, Shi Qiao’s. Surprisingly, the computer equipment was still running. Wasn’t the internet already cut off? No wonder he seemed to know everything.
There was also a sketch on the desk—a beautiful girl, her smile gentle and healing. Her long, straight hair draped smoothly over her shoulders, and she wore a high school uniform.
Wang Xin saw the sketch too. “Is this Shi Qiao’s white moonlight?”
Gu Cheng nodded. “Looks like it. She’s really beautiful—even I feel moved looking at her.”
They continued the same routine—one supporting, one feeding medicine, applying cooling patches.
When they entered the next room, they had nowhere to step. The filthy, messy state of the room made both of them want to turn around and leave immediately.
Books were scattered across the desk, clothes piled on the chair, snacks littered the bedside table, and the trash can was nearly overflowing. Thankfully, it hadn’t started to stink yet.
The person inside wasn’t even wearing proper sleepwear, his bare shoulders exposed. Neither of them dared to support him. They simply stuffed medicine into his mouth and forced water down, spilling some onto the pillow, which they ignored before rushing out of the room.
Of the two rooms left, Wang Xin blushed slightly. “I can take care of Fu Zhe myself. You go take care of my brother.”
After saying that, she grabbed the water, medicine, and cooling patches from Gu Cheng’s hands and quickly slipped into Fu Zhe’s room.
Gu Cheng stared speechlessly at the closed door. Choosing a lover over family, huh? She likes him so much she doesn’t even care about her own brother anymore. Still, knowing Fu Zhe would be fine, and that Wang Xin could handle it alone, he didn’t worry too much.
Gu Cheng entered Wang Che’s room alone. Among all of them, only Wang Che’s room was dark—no lights were on.
He fumbled for the switch and pressed it. Huh? No response. He tried several more times, but the light still didn’t turn on. Was it broken?
He took out a wireless lamp and walked in, placing one on the desk and another on the bedside table. When he looked at Wang Che, he was so startled he almost screamed.
Wang Che’s veins had turned black, spreading across his body like a spiderweb. Gu Cheng’s heart sank. Could it be that my arrival changed the plot, and now the powerful ally is about to turn into a zombie?
After mentally preparing himself for a long time, Gu Cheng took out a knife and trembled as he approached Wang Che. He poked his shoulder with one finger—no response. He poked his face twice—still nothing.
Summoning his courage, he sat on the edge of the bed, supported Wang Che, and fed him water and medicine. After laying him back down, he reached for a cooling patch to place on his forehead. At that moment, the darkened veins and blood began visibly flowing rapidly, as if he were about to transform at any second.
Gu Cheng was so frightened that he immediately retreated, gripping the knife tightly. Both lamps suddenly lost their light, and the surrounding darkness deepened, filling him with fear.
Completely panicked, Gu Cheng groped his way toward the door, trying to escape—but no matter how he moved, he couldn’t find it. He shouted loudly for Wang Xin, but there was no response.
He took out a flashlight from his storage space, but it wouldn’t turn on either. Terrified to the point of tears, Gu Cheng forced himself to recall the plot. Wang Che’s ability… it was a powerful storage space ability. There was also some kind of domain… Could it be that I’m inside that domain right now? Why is it so terrifying?
Wang Xin also noticed something was wrong. After carefully tending to Fu Zhe, she realized Gu Cheng still hadn’t come out. She knocked on the door, but there was no response. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open it. Panic overtook her as well.
After crying in fear for a while, Gu Cheng’s nerves went numb. He could only hope that Wang Xin would notice something was wrong, or that Wang Che would wake up soon.
Wang Che only felt his body burning as if scorched by fire. He was trapped in endless darkness, unable to escape no matter how hard he struggled. Then a faint fragrance reached him. Someone supported him, and cool, sweet water slid down his throat, gradually suppressing the burning heat. The darkness began to spread outward, expanding further and further.
He thought he heard Gu Cheng’s voice, but he had no strength to wake up or move. He could only let the darkness continue to spread.
He fell asleep again, but felt two forces clashing within his body. Gradually, they reached a balance, and he finally opened his eyes.
Gu Cheng, unable to break free from the darkness, had given up and fallen asleep as well, no longer aware of time.
When Wang Che opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Gu Cheng lying on the floor. After waking, Wang Che felt a strange energy within his body—but he was extremely hungry, his body urgently craving energy.
He got out of bed and tried to wake Gu Cheng, but after calling him several times with no response, he picked him up and placed him on the sofa to sleep. The bed was damp with his own sweat anyway.
He went to take a shower. Wrapped in a towel, he walked out of the bathroom, only to find that Gu Cheng had already woken up and was staring straight at his upper body, examining him.
Wang Che didn’t mind. “Your drool is coming out.”
Gu Cheng quickly shut his mouth. “You didn’t wake me up, and now you’re doing this—are you trying to seduce me?”
While putting on his clothes, Wang Che replied, “I called you several times. You were sleeping like the dead—you didn’t even notice when I carried you to the sofa. Do I need to seduce you? Your eyes look like they want to strip off my towel.”
Gu Cheng’s face turned red. He shifted from staring openly to sneaking glances. “I came to give you water, but when you awakened your ability, you looked like you were about to turn into a zombie. I tried to run, but I couldn’t escape—it was all darkness. I was scared to death. In the end, I was so scared I went numb and fell asleep.”
Wang Che finished putting on his pants and began to think over what Gu Cheng said. “It might be my ability. I think my ability is a bit strange.”
Full of curiosity and confusion, Gu Cheng added in a slightly aggrieved tone, “In the dream, your ability was a storage space, with an absolute domain. Inside that domain, you’re invincible. But is it supposed to be this terrifying? It makes people feel fear and despair.”
Fully dressed, Wang Che walked over and hugged Gu Cheng. “Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you. I think I might have another ability—something related to controlling darkness. I haven’t figured it out yet. Let’s go eat first. Aren’t you hungry?”
At the mention of food, Gu Cheng immediately forgot his curiosity. He realized he really was hungry and quickly struggled out of Wang Che’s embrace. “Just talk properly—why are you hugging me?”
Wang Che replied seriously, “Did you forget? We woke up together.”
Gu Cheng walked ahead and pulled the door open, pretending not to hear.
As soon as the door opened, Wang Xin rushed over, her face covered in tears. “Wah… Gu Cheng, what happened? I kept calling you, but you didn’t respond. I was so scared. I couldn’t even open the door—I thought something happened to you!”
Gu Cheng hugged her best friend. “I don’t know either. You’ll have to ask your brother.”
Wang Xin looked at Wang Che with teary eyes. He remained calm. “She fell asleep on my floor.”
“You’re talking nonsense—mmph—” Before she could finish, Wang Che covered her mouth and dragged her downstairs.
Wang Xin could only follow anxiously. “Brother, are you okay? The others still haven’t woken up.”
Wang Che patted his sister’s head. “They’ll wake up soon. Don’t worry. Let’s eat.”
The three of them ate in the dining room. They heard movement upstairs—people were probably waking up one after another—but they didn’t pay much attention.
The rain outside had lessened, but it hadn’t stopped. The air was heavy with moisture, making it very uncomfortable. Out of habit, Gu Cheng opened the window slightly, and a foul stench immediately rushed in. He quickly shut it again.
“Ugh, it stinks! I feel like throwing up everything I just ate.”
Wang Che walked over to observe. There was only the sound of rain—no sign of zombies in sight.
