Wei Jiawen slapped his thigh.

“Instant noodles, self-heating hot pots—did you guys buy those?”

Oh no. The most important things… they hadn’t bought them. Normally they didn’t even get the chance to eat these things.

Wei Jiawen smiled.

“I’ll buy them. I’m familiar with these. Before university, no one cared about me, so I ate them all the time. I’ll get self-heating rice too.”

Wang Che suddenly remembered that Wang Xin liked bread, so he ordered a large amount of bread for her.

A batch of underwear had finished washing and was put into the dryer, while another batch was being washed.

Food deliveries continued arriving one after another. Gu Qian looked at the various takeout meals and felt like everyone was showing off their skills in different ways.

Everyone ate the food they had ordered. Wang Che ordered Michelin cuisine, causing everyone else to roll their eyes.

But thanks to him—one had to admit—Big Boss was still Big Boss. Even during the apocalypse, they would still be able to enjoy Michelin meals on important occasions. That alone was impressive.

Gu Cheng looked at him eating such luxurious food and couldn’t help but complain to Wang Xin.

“You have no idea—your brother has been corrupted by money. He even bought a lot of custom suits, luxury clothes and shoes. Even the bedding and pajamas are silk.”

Wang Xin turned to her brother.

“Older Brother, did you buy me any?”

Wang Che nodded.

“I bought them. I originally prepared a lot for Gu Cheng too, but it seems her pride is too high. She looks down on them, so I gave them all to Xinxin.”

Gu Cheng immediately teared up.

“Older Brother~ my mindset is already mature! I’m firm and unshakable! I won’t be corrupted! I can wear them!”

“Heh.”

“‘Heh’ means can wear or can’t wear?”

“Heh.”

Gu Cheng slammed the table and stood up.

“You heh monster! If I can’t wear them, then I won’t! I have my own! Mine are just as good!”

Wang Xin tried to pull her down under the table, but Gu Cheng had already gotten worked up.

Wang Xin sighed.

“Do you know how to cook?”

Gu Cheng looked at her blankly.

“What does that have to do with anything? I can cook simple stuff. I won’t starve. Besides, I have all this takeout.”

Wang Xin thought for a moment.

“When I was in middle and high school, I had a period where I didn’t like eating. I almost developed anorexia. My brother felt sorry for me and specifically went to learn cooking from a famous chef. His cooking is top-tier—better than many five-star hotel chefs.”

In just a few minutes, Gu Cheng’s confidence and sharp edges were completely flattened. She slumped in her chair and stared at the ceiling.

“Xinxin… why didn’t you wait until there was grass three meters tall on my grave before telling me?”

Wang Xin spoke earnestly.

“Baby, this isn’t the time to be rebellious. Back then, I never took my brother seriously and fought with him all the time. But now the apocalypse is coming—those who adapt survive. How could I fight with a walking protective talisman?”

Gu Cheng looked at her.

As expected, with a genius older brother, the younger sister wasn’t simple either. Why was her own comprehension ability so low?

“Xinxin… when did you secretly grow a brain without telling me?”

Wang Xin sighed dramatically.

“Environment shapes growth.”

Wei Jiawen couldn’t hold back a laugh. Shi Qiao was laughing so hard he almost buried his face in his food container. Their conversation was too funny.

Fu Zhe smiled and patted Wang Xin’s head.

“You’re so adaptable. Impressive.”

Gu Cheng glanced at the two of them curiously, then looked at Wang Che from the corner of her eye.

But Wang Che seemed not to notice anything.

Should she report this to gain merit?

Meanwhile, Wei Jiawen looked between Wang Che and Gu Cheng.

The boss… seemed a bit different toward this girl.

After dinner, they rested for a while.

Then Wang Che called Gu Cheng over and told her to take out more ingredients and put a few boxes of water in the kitchen so everyone could help themselves. They would just restock every two days.

Gu Cheng asked everyone about their preferences and filled the fridge with vegetables, fruits, and drinks. She also added cakes, milk, and yogurt.

She stocked plenty of meat and seafood, along with various ice creams and frozen foods.

She placed snacks under the coffee table and even took out a medical kit.

Everyone had already brought clothes, so there was no need for more for now. They could just wash and reuse them.

She also gave each of them a tablet so they could download whatever they liked.

Because of jet lag, Gu Cheng and Wang Che went upstairs first to rest.

Shi Qiao, Wei Jiawen, and Fu Zhe decided to learn combat techniques together, and Wang Xin also wanted to learn self-defense. The four of them went to the gym to practice on soft mats.

Gu Cheng caught up with Wang Che and pulled him mysteriously.

“Older Brother, I discovered a secret. Can I earn leniency for my crimes?”

Wang Che glanced at her hand holding his sleeve. He didn’t seem annoyed and continued walking.

“Go on.”

Gu Cheng hurried after him.

“Walk slower! Do you even want to hear it or not?”

He stopped at the door, turned around.

“Say it.”

Gu Cheng tugged his sleeve again. He understood and bent slightly to lower his head.

She immediately leaned in and whispered into his ear.

“Your good brother Fu Zhe… likes Wang Xin.”

She waited a few seconds.

No reaction.

“You already knew?”

“Mm. They met when they were kids because of my father’s work. Fu Zhe never forgot her and even came to Hai City to attend university because of her.”

Gu Cheng’s mouth fell open in shock.

That was a lot of information.

Wang Che leaned closer, nose almost touching hers.

“In your dream, those two didn’t end up together?”

Gu Cheng tried to recall the plot. Thinking was tiring, so she leaned slightly against him.

His gaze flickered but he didn’t move.

“In the dream, their relationship wasn’t really mentioned.”

Fu Zhe’s storyline only appeared as a dead character—no matter what happened, he eventually died.

“In your dream… the four of us don’t seem very important. Why is that?”

Gu Cheng didn’t know how to answer. She closed her mouth, intending to leave, but he suddenly pulled her into the room and closed the door.

Then he grabbed her by the neck and pinned her against the wall.

“Who are you? Reborn from a book?”

Gu Cheng was truly frightened—not only because she was being held by the throat, but because he had almost guessed the truth.

“Or do you have some other purpose?”

Tears slid down Gu Cheng’s face.

“Who would want to come to this damn place? In my family for nine generations, I was the only daughter. I was pampered like a princess—then I slept and woke up here! I want to go back too!”

Her tears seemed to burn him.

Wang Che loosened his grip slightly.

“No swearing.”

Gu Cheng cried even harder.

“You’re still scolding me! Then I won’t live anymore! If I die, maybe I can go back! Wuwu…”

Hearing that she might return if she died, something in his heart shifted slightly. He didn’t like that thought.

He stepped back to create distance.

“Don’t be unreasonable. Stop this crying, shouting, and threatening.”

Gu Cheng, realizing she had to act irrationally to survive this, suddenly lunged forward with both hands trying to grab his neck.

He dodged easily.

She lost balance, tripped over her own foot, and fell forward—

Instinctively, she grabbed onto his neck.
