While they were shouting slogans, he leaned toward the elderly man beside him and asked what had happened.
It turned out that Axel Insurance had been selling investment-linked insurance policies that promised extremely high returns. Attracted by the lucrative profits, many of the elderly people had become customers and invested large portions of their savings in the company's policies.
According to their contracts, today was supposed to be the day they received their dividends.
However, when they arrived to collect their money, they discovered that the company's doors were tightly locked. Only a few employees remained outside, giving them one excuse after another to prevent them from entering.
Eventually, the elderly investors realized that they had fallen victim to an illegal investment scam.

Charlie rubbed his temple in frustration and asked Elaine, “Mom, how much did you invest?”
Elaine answered hysterically, “They said we could earn huge returns from their insurance investment plans, so I believed them and bought their policies with all our savings...”
Charlie stared at her in shock.
“What? You used all our savings to buy those policies?”
Elaine immediately became embarrassed and angry.
“Do you think you're the only one who can talk? Do you think I don't already feel ashamed enough?”
Still furious, she continued mocking him.
“If you were even slightly capable, do you think I would have bought those fraudulent insurance products? If I don't make some preparations for my old age, do you think I can rely on you to take care of me?”
This useless man couldn't even support his own family financially, yet here he was acting like he could solve everyone else's problems.
Elaine glared at him.
“I warn you, keep shouting! Don't you dare stop for even a second!”
Charlie pursed his lips and nodded.
“Okay, Mom.”
Just then, several elderly women walked over and glanced at Charlie.
One of them asked Elaine, “Elaine, is that your son-in-law?”
The women looked Charlie up and down before mocking him.
“Oh my goodness, why does he look so useless? He's not even half as good-looking or capable as my son-in-law!”
“Exactly! Look at his clothes. They're so old-fashioned and worn out! Even I dress better than him!”
Charlie didn't care in the slightest.
They were simply a group of elderly women who had lost their savings. There was no reason for him to stoop to their level.
Elaine, however, became increasingly embarrassed and angry as she listened to their ridicule.
Finally, she blurted out, “Just wait and see! I'll make my daughter divorce him in a few days and marry a rich man!”
Charlie smirked inwardly.
A rich husband? Even if you gathered all the wealthy young men in Aurouss Hilll together, they wouldn't be worth as much as the buckle on my belt.
Elaine was extremely anxious.
She knew she couldn't rely on Charlie, this useless son-in-law, to recover her money. At most, all he could do was stand here and shout slogans.
She needed someone with real ability to help her get the money back.
Wendell, who had been pursuing her daughter, had already gone bankrupt. Otherwise, she could have asked him for help.
Then she suddenly remembered Kevin, Gerald's cousin, whom she had met at the banquet the previous evening.
