New Friendships Lucy
A whole week has passed since everything.
I have tried to lay as low as possible, not much has happened except the fact I have gotten quite close to the guy I met at the dinner the night that Kayden announced his new mate.
The full moon is in three weeks and I don’t wanna think about what Kayden said too much.
Not after the promise I made to mum.
Lexi is good for him not me.
“ Lost in thought once more?” Ace asks.
I am startled for a second as I snap out of whatever trance I was in.
“Huh?”
He smiles, his smile lighting up his honey-brown eyes.
I can help but be in awe.
“ I wonder what goes on through that mind of yours.” Ace comments.
I shrug, I ain’t sure what answer to give him.
I don’t even think he wants to know what answer is on my mind.
We are the only two in the living room of the pack house.
Which is surprising cause the pack house is always busy, and I steer clear of busy places.
“Trust me you don’t wanna know,” I reply after being silent for a while.
A playful smirk plays on his lips and I can’t help but roll my eyes.
“ Try me.” He dares.
I roll my eyes once again.
“ I don’t think so.
Cause the moment I do you will go running for the hills.” I tell him honestly.
He hums as he thinks about it.
An action he often does and whenever he hums it’s always so hot cause of his deep voice.
“ I am tougher than you think wildflower.”
“Wildflower?” I raise my brows.
“Yep!” He exclaims.
I furrow my eyebrows when doesn’t give me any explanation.
“ Well, it suits you given your nature.
I feel you are this wild woman.
Who looks tough on the outside but am sure is also tough on the inside.
Well, what I am trying to drag out is that you survive any situation that’s thrown at you.”
“How would you know that?”
“ Let’s just say I am good with reading people.” Thats all he says.
It’s funny how Ace and I have become close these past few days.
After mum found out about what I had done she kept her distance.
It will take time before she can talk to me again.
At least she hasn’t told dad or my young bro Justin about it.
Besides that, no one else in the pack knows.
I kind of became even more lonely with mum not talking to me until I bumped into Ace and we bonded and since then we spend most days together.
“ But still you don’t wanna know what going through my mind right now.
Haven’t you ever wondered why I don’t have any friends yet?”
He ran his hand through his red hair, he looks away from the screen to look at me, rolls his eyes, and looks back.
“ Does it even matter?” He asks.
“ Maybe it does,” I answer him.
“ I just figured cause you were previously a beta you didn’t have time to make friends and all.
Plus some people feared you.
I heard rumors about you.” He speaks casually.
I tilt my head so that my full attention is on him.
“ Really rumors?”
I am intrigued.
“ Yeah, Lucy rumors.” He scratches his light beard a bit.
“ You know back in Blackmist before Alpha Kayden took over you were known to be one of the most fierce betas around and most of us were amazed by you.
How you were able to keep your position and all, after all, that time.
And trust me most of us are still amazed.”
“ But I lost my position…” I grimace.
It still pains me, what pains me more is not knowing if I will ever have it back.
“ Yeah, Beta Aiden is a beast.” Is all he said after we both got quiet and continued to watch the available show.
“ Wildflower!!” I tense.
So does Ace.
That voice does things to me.
I find my body responding to commands I haven’t given it.
What caught me off guard is the nickname used.
I turn to look at where he is standing.
My eyes meet his green and I fight my inner demons not get sucked into them.
Mara is quietly watching the scene in front of me.
Since that day in the Lili field, she hasn’t said a word.
Kayden’s words cut deeper than I thought.
“ You have to know that you have been given enough time to rest and you will be starting training soon,” Kaydens informs me.
Did he come all the way here just to tell me this?
“ No I was passing by and I saw you.” He answers my unspoken question.
How he did it remains a mystery.
“ Thanks, Alpha.”
He nods curtly, he almost looks pissed.
I can see a storm brewing behind those eyes.
“ Ace what are you going here?”
His voice is strained it, comes out forced.
I wonder what his problem is.
“ I have a short break from my duty and I came to see my girlfriend over here.” I choke as Ace puts a hand over my shoulder and pulls me closer to him.
I think I see flames behind those eyes.
He fists his palm so tightly.
His big arms bulge, he doesn’t say anything but his face is screaming bloody murder.
I wonder what can be the problem.
“ Get to work!!!” He growls out angrily.
Ace is up from the seat in no time.
He leans over and gives my cheek a peck.

I would get super angry at him the first days he did till I eventually got used to his cheek pecks.
I slap his arm playfully before he leaves and he only chuckles.
The sound of his laughter resonating in the room.
I guess that’s just how Ace is.
He is loveable.
“Couldn’t you just watch and pass like a normal person?” I am kind of upset with him for ruining my blissful moment with Ace.
“ Bold of you to assume I am a normal man wildflower.”
“Dont call me that!!!” I snap.
He smirks, “ what wildflower?” His smirk widens and I shiver in my seat.
“ Is it because your little boyfriend gave it to you?” He mocks.
“ Ace is nothing but little.” I defend.
Leaving out the fact that he is my boyfriend.
Why am I even getting railed up by this hunk of a man?
He laughs, like full-blown laughter, like I said the funniest thing ever.
“ You like this little boy toy of yours.”
I stand up and face him.
He raises his hands in surrender but his sinister smirk doesn’t wear off.
“ The wildflower wants to beat me up ’cause I called her boyfriend a boy toy.”
“ Why are you here alpha?” I ask, as respective as I could have been, I refrain from that.
“ I already told you.
Don’t get angry I was just trying to mess with you little wildflower.” He laughs as he shakes his head.
This man is hard to understand.
“ I know.” He answers my thoughts once.
I begin to walk away but he grabs my hands tightly stopping me in my place.
“ I ain’t done with you yet.
Next time you are always away from me while I am still talking to you, you won’t like what I will do.”
“ Threats threats, nothing but empty threats.
I don’t think you have the balls to punish me, Alpha.” I mock him.
He freezes, and the power that radiates from him has me shivering.
Me and my big mouth.
I could have just kept quiet but no.
“ You think I wouldn’t do anything.” His voice sent shivers down my spine.
For the first time, I am scared of what Kayden will do.
“ I am sorry alpha I didn’t mean to say anything,” I say quickly.
He visibly shakes, as if like my apology only made my situation worse.
My big mouth will be the death of me.
“ Apology not accepted.
It’s high time you learned a lesson, Lucy.
You think I am your mate and that you can behave however you want and I would easily forgive you.”
I wince at his harsh words that feel like very sharp needles piercing my skin.
I wish he didn’t come here to ruin my peace.
He begins to walk out of the living room as he drags me along.
I am utterly fucked.
