Rather Die Than Let You Touch Me!
13: I’d Rather Die Than Let You Touch Me!
JUNE’S POV My chest heaved with every breath as I hurried out of the peach orchard with clenched fists.
“I hate him so much!” “How dare he lay his hands on me?” My jaw clenched as the memory of what just happened filled my mind.
I marched through the quiet hallway, straight to Tristine’s room.
Standing before the door, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand Tristine’s presence for long.
I nodded, a resolve building within me.
“I’ll ask for a separate room,” I said to myself with every atom of determination.
No, I wouldn’t accept no.
“My lady,” Tristine’s maids greeted, snapping me back to the present.
I turned to find their heads bowed in reverence.
They were filled into two lines of three each, dressed in their blue short gowns, they seemed to be on their way to their other duty posts.
But as I stared at them, I knew one of them was missing.
September!
“Where’s Avery?” The words shot out from my lips.
I needed to see her as soon as possible to get the rest of the information about Lord Boston’s grand plan.
“My lady,” It was Agatha, the assistant chief maiden who spoke.
“She was taken by the Elite Wolves for interrogation.” My heart jumped against my chest as her words hit me hard.
Interrogation?
About what?
The thought of it sent my heart racing as I wondered what she could’ve done wrong.
“Why was…” The words died in my lips as I caught myself saying: You’re panicking before the maids.
You’d attract their suspicions.
After all it was only my second day in Red Moon Pack.
I cleared my throat and steadied my breathing.
“Why was she taken?” I asked as calmly as I could, even though deep within, I barely held onto my composure.
Agatha shook her head, her neatly combed hair, dangling at her back.
“I have no idea, my Lady,” she replied carefully as though she was trying not to offend me.
Her gaze fixed on the floor beneath her.
After inquiring about where she was taken to, I turned sharply toward Tristine study, where Agatha had described for me.
I was already standing outside the door, when the question crossed my mind: What was I doing in Tristine’s study?
I tried to figure out what I would tell Tristine, but it was too late.
The door suddenly swung open, revealing Lux who was about to leave.
September and one other maid were behind him.
“Lady Kira,” he said with a slight bow, chuckling calmly, and leaving the door wide open.
His words attracted Tristine’s attention, who raised his head from the document in his hands.
“I guess you’re here to see the Alpha,” Lux continued excitedly.
“Go on, he’s inside.” His words were accompanied with a gesture of his head.
I drew in a steady breath as my gaze met Tristine’s, then braced myself for a conversation I hadn’t prepared for.
As I stepped inside, September and the maid lowered their heads in reverence, and I took a quick glimpse of her face, searching for anything that spoke of trouble.
The door closed behind them, leaving me alone with Tristine.
My mind went blank immediately as soon as I stood a few feet away from the door, frozen and reluctantly.
“What brings you here?” Tristine, who had never taken his eyes off me, asked, his voice calm and velvety.
“Missed me already?” I rolled my eyes.
In your dreams!
“I want to discuss something with you.” I blurted the first thought that had crossed my mind.
Then slowly let out a breath as I met his gaze, searching for any hint of suspicion.
His eyes softened as soon as he heard me, and he gestured toward the empty seat directly opposite his.
“Come and sit,” he said, staring at me with unwavering focus as though his life depended on it.
I shook my head, I needed to leave as soon as possible.
After all, it seemed September wasn’t in any kind of trouble.
“That won’t be necessary,” I said, my voice firm.
“I need a separate room.” His eyes clouded as surprise and hurt gradually replaced the softness in his gaze.
He stood up, and slid his hands into his pocket.
His steps were slow and deliberate as he strode toward me, studying my face.
He stopped a few inches away, looming over me with visible restraint.
“Do you realize we’re married?” He asked.
The hurt he had felt unmistakably laced in the calmness of his voice.
The hardness in his voice told me he wasn’t going to give in easily.
“You haven’t even fulfilled your duty as a wife, and you’re asking for a separate room?” His voice rose slightly as his jaw tightened.
His words slammed into me, igniting a surge of anger.
Fulfill my duty as his wife?
What a joke!
“Do I need to remind you that I’m not interested in being your wife?” I replied with a matching intensity, my head raised upward, staring into his eyes.
“I don’t care whether you’re interested in it or not!” he shot back.
“We’re both married and there’s nothing we can do about it!” My chest heaved as my fists tightened at my side.
I tore my gaze away, trying hard to control the urge of driving a dagger right through his chest or maybe stab his neck.
Whichever would make his death slow and painful.
Tristen dragged a hand down his face and blew out a breath, before turning to face me again.
“Listen,” he said calmly this time around.
“Whether you like it or not, you have duties expected of you as the soon to be Luna of Red Moon Pack.
There’s no way I’d let you leave!” Something snapped within me, and I couldn’t take it anymore.
“I’d rather die than let you touch me!” I spat, gritting my teeth.
Tristine’s eyes widened a little, and he moved back as my words slammed into him.
His lips parted, shock masking his features.
The crease on his forehead conveyed the hurt and surprise he had felt.
Oh, I liked that look.
I wanted to hurt him even more.
He pulled his gaze from me, and let it roam around the room, before settling on the door.
“Fine!” he said, his voice heavy with resignation.
“You want to leave our room?
Then give me an heir.
I’d let you move into the Luna’s room once you bear an heir.” I scoffed, wondering if he couldn’t understand plain words.
I realized it was pointless to argue with him.
I turned, but before I reached the door, his voice stopped me.
“We’re having dinner with my mother tonight.
Get ready,” he said calmly.
“I’ll be back in the evening to take you to her mansion.” As soon as the words left his lips, I walked away, slamming the door behind me.
My feet were swift as I strode back to his room, in search of September.
I needed to know what had happened, most importantly, I need to know Lord Boston’s grand plan and prepare for my revenge.
