Nicholas’s POV
Adrian’s grip on me was solid like he was protecting me without realizing it. But the moment I heard that water had filled the rooms, panic seized me as I rushed out of Adrian’s arms.
"Nicholas!" He called out as I rushed through the water that was already filling the living room. Another vase shattered to the ground and I flinched but I didn’t stop.
I ran up the stairs, my heart sinking in my chest as I pushed my door open. Water flowed out and nearly knocked me off the ground but I managed to grab the door handle.
I pushed through, aiming for under my bed and when I felt the little box still under there, I almost cried in relief as I took it out and placed it on the bed that was now floating.
The moment I opened the box, my blood ran cold. The pills were already washed away and the inhibitors had mixed with the water inside the box. Everything was gone.
My body was trembling from the cold but I could only stand there with the box in my hands as I stared at it blankly.
Why did horrible things only happen to me?
Maybe if I had stayed in my room as I always did, I would have been able to keep the box on top of the closet. I would still have my supplies with me.
But everything was gone. The money. The supplies. My peace of mind.
"Fuck!" I screamed in frustration even though no one could hear me because of how loud the wind was. I threw the box across the room as the water kept rising and suddenly, I felt someone grab my hands.
"Are you trying to drown or freeze to death?" Elijah yelled as he dragged me out of the room but I couldn’t say a word.
Maybe that would have been a better option. Maybe I wouldn’t need to live my life in fear and pain.
I felt someone drape a blanket around me and I turned to see Cassian stare at me with worry.
"Nico!" My mom called out as she rushed up to me and I hugged her tightly. "What were you thinking? Don’t make us worried like this."
"It’s all gone..." I whispered, tears rolling down my cheeks and she froze. "Everything. Gone. I’m screwed, Mom."
She pulled back to look at me with her eyes welling up with tears too.
"We’ll get you another one." She whispered as well, knowing that no one else could hear us like this. "You’re not screwed. I’m here."
She wasn’t here when the pain nearly killed me days ago. How could I trust that she was truly here?
"Let’s move to the top floor. Water can’t get in there." Gareth’s voice echoed as he made his way upstairs and we followed behind him while I was shaking violently.
We made it to the top floor and I had to change into Elijah’s clothes since his room was the only place that didn’t get washed up. After Mom made sure I was okay, she finally left and I curled up into a ball on the bed.
I wished she’d stay the night but she had to be with her husband after all. And I was left all alone.
I couldn’t tell what the time was. But the moment my wolf stirred, I knew it was already nearing midnight. It was time to endure whatever pain my wolf was about to make me go through.
"Why isn’t my heat over yet?" I groaned in frustration as I buried my face in my pillow. The rain had stopped but the damage it had done was already permanent.
The pain started slowly this time, heat consuming me as I sat up and started to take my pants off. But then I remembered that my dildo was in the other room and it was still flooded so I couldn’t go back to get it.
I knew I had no choice but to endure the pain.
However, I started stroking my cock to see if the pleasure would make the pain stop. I whimpered as I stroked myself faster. And faster. But minutes had passed, and I couldn’t cum, nor did the pain reduce.
"Fuck." I sobbed as I collapsed to the bed, wincing when the pain became more than before, dragging a groan out of me.
The pain suddenly subsided and I gasped, sitting up in shock. It was over.
Oh, how wrong I was.
I felt a searing jolt surge through me as my wolf started going rampant inside me and the air instantly became sweeter than usual.
"No, no, no... not now." I begged, but I knew it was no use as my wolf had lost control and there was no way I could control it anymore.
My pheromones were literally everywhere and anyone who was in this house could smell that an omega was in this house.
Panic surged through me as I managed to drag myself to my feet. I had to run. If I got caught, I would be in trouble.
Rapid knocks on the door had me freezing in my steps as my heart started pounding so hard I could have sworn it would burst out of my chest.
I glanced out the window and knew that if I left the room, I would be making myself vulnerable and there was no saying what would happen to me out there.
The knocks echoed again and I wiped my tears harshly as I inched closer to the door. If anything happened, I would fight. If they tried to sell me, I would kill myself.
Sucking in a sharp breath, I slowly opened the door and my eyes widened when I saw all four of them standing outside my room, their eyes glowing as they stared at me.
Lust and desire clouded their expressions as they stared at me and I panicked as I tried to slam the door shut. Roman’s hand stopped the door from closing completely and I froze when he pushed it open even wider.
"You smell different tonight, stepbrother." Elijah’s voice echoed and before I could stop them, they were in my room, slamming the door shut behind them.
"You n-need to leave." I choked out as their pheromones filled the room, overshadowing mine but instead of nearly making me weak, it made me stable.
The pain was gone. Like magic.
"Leave? You led us here." Adrian whispered as his pupils returned to normal, and the next second, he grabbed the back of my head and kissed me deeply.
