Tang Yunshu listened carefully and slowly moved toward the source of the sound.

The noise came from a low, dense thicket. She stopped, crouched down, and gently parted the branches. To her surprise, she saw two tiny puppies, their fur thick and brown-black.

The two little pups were curled up together, trembling in the summer heat, clearly terrified.Full novel: An Underworld Agent Who Turned the Netherworld Upside Down Reincarnates as a Beloved Farmstead Group Darling — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yunshu reached out and picked them up. On closer look, the puppies were extremely cute. Their eyes still had a thin film over them—it was obvious they were newborns, barely seeing clearly.

One of the puppies had a small tuft of golden hair on its forehead, shaped almost like a heart, particularly striking.

The pups still carried the rich scent of milk. Their tiny wet noses nudged her hand, and they licked it with their little tongues, making Yunshu giggle from the ticklish sensation.

“Father, Brothers, come over here!” she called.

In no time, the whole family gathered around. Fifth Brother saw the puppies in Yunshu’s arms and exclaimed,

“Little Sister, where did you find such tiny puppies?”

He reached out and gently held one. Yunshu said,

“Fifth Brother, they were trembling under the bushes. They must have been scared.”

Tang Dashan said,

“Yunshu, these pups are too young—just born. Their eyes still have membranes. How are we going to raise them? They’ll need milk, but where would we get it?”

“Father, you forget—my master is practically a deity. He left me supplies at home that cover everything, including milk powder. I can mix it for them. They’ll grow up fat and healthy. Milk powder is also great for us. If we leave them here in the mountains, wild animals could eat them, or they’d starve. Let’s bring them home.”

Fifth Brother said,

“Little Sister, they seem hungry—they keep licking my fingers.”

Tang Dashan nodded,

“All right, we’ll follow her advice. We also gathered a lot of herbs today. Let’s head home.”

Back at home, Tang Yunshu went straight to her room and entered her space.

She took out her phone and ordered milk powder, bottles, and nipples. When she checked her account balance, she realized her bank card only had 100 yuan left.

Her other cards couldn’t be linked despite multiple attempts.

Her heart sank. Everything she had earned in her past life—except for the house—was gone. The bank account was just a number.

How could she buy more milk powder for the puppies with only 100 yuan?

Just then, her phone dinged. She checked and discovered a new “My Shop” function.

Curious, she clicked in and found it was her own store—she could sell things online.

But what could she sell? All she had were herbs. Why not try selling them?

She immediately listed the wild, natural herbs she had gathered, including licorice and bupleurum.

Soon, a buyer inquired,

“Are these real? Pure wild herbs are rare.”

Yunshu replied patiently,

“Rest assured, all herbs are picked from the mountains near our home. Purely wild—tenfold compensation if false.”

The buyer responded,

“All right, if the goods don’t match, I want a refund. And you said tenfold—no backing out.”

“Don’t worry, I keep my word,” Yunshu assured.

“I’ll take one of each to check the quality.”

“Okay, dear.” Yunshu packed each herb into a separate parcel, but worried—how would she ship them?

No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than the herbs vanished from her hands.

Within minutes, the buyer messaged again:

“Seller, your shipping is incredibly fast! Goods received. Quality is top-notch—definitely pure wild herbs. Payment completed. I want more. How much stock do you have?”

Yunshu checked her balance and found 5,000 yuan added. She thought: selling here is really convenient.

She replied,

“I have about five units of each herb left.”

The buyer quickly responded,

“I’ll take all of them! Whatever you have, I want it.”

Yunshu immediately listed the remaining herbs. Shortly after, 25,000 yuan appeared in her account.

She nearly jumped for joy. Then she remembered the puppies’ cries. She rushed out of the space to prepare the milk.

The pups suckled eagerly, and soon after, fell into a deep, contented sleep.

The little ones were adorable, their milky smell still lingering—Yunshu’s heart nearly melted holding them.

In her past life, she had wanted pets, but missions lasting days or weeks left no time to care for them. Now, holding the puppies, she gently stroked them, and they snuggled obediently, clearly enjoying her touch.

(Author’s note: Readers, have you ever cared for puppies still carrying the scent of milk? They’re incredibly cute!)

That night, as Yunshu was about to sleep, a strong force yanked her awake. Opening her eyes, she saw none other than the Black and White Impermanence.

Tang Yunshu immediately flared up,

“Damn it, am I dead? I’ve only lived a few days! Looks like I’ll have to shake up the underworld!”

Black Impermanence hurried to calm her,

“Miss Tang, don’t panic. You’re not dead. I just forgot to tell you something earlier and have come specifically to inform you today.”

“What? Tell me!”

White Impermanence continued,

“In this life, your lifespan is only twenty years.”

Tang Yunshu was furious,

“What? Say that again! After all this trouble crossing over, finally having a family, you’re telling me I only get twenty years? Are you joking?”

“Miss Tang, calm down, I haven’t finished,” Black Impermanence said.

“Who told you to breathe slowly while talking! Just spit it out!”

“This lifespan is limited to twenty years because of the heavy killings in your past life—you’ve come to repay your sins. But if you want to extend it, it’s possible. The more good deeds you do, the more your life will increase—up to a maximum of eighty years.”

Tang Yunshu thought for a moment, then asked,

“What counts as a good deed? No one taught me that in my past life—I wouldn’t even know.”

“Miss Tang, assisting the government as a portrait artist to catch criminals counts as a good deed; catching thieves, helping the weak, saving lives—all count; even ensuring many people have enough food counts toward your merits.”

“Oh, I understand,” Yunshu nodded. “How will I know how much life is added when I do good deeds?”

Black Impermanence replied,

“Each time your lifespan increases, I will notify you.”

“If I want to save people, and it requires your help, can you lend a hand?”
