“Of course, of course, I’ll help,” said Black Impermanence, handing her a pendant. “There’s a button on it—turn it, and you can come here anytime. I’ll assist you.”
“Thanks in advance,” Tang Yunshu replied.
After she left, White Impermanence muttered,
“It’s all because you caused so much chaos before, disturbing the underworld. The King of Hell didn’t want to take you, so this is a way to extend your life. Otherwise, you’d live your original lifespan, die, and cause more trouble. Who could handle that?”
Black Impermanence smacked him lightly. “Don’t talk nonsense.”
Before the words could fully leave his mouth, Yunshu had already returned.
White Impermanence was startled. “Ah! Madam, why are you back?”
“Nothing, you two continue your work,” Yunshu said, holding up the pendant. “I just wanted to test if this thing works. Now I know. Oh, Black, one more question—my villa came with me when I crossed over, but I can’t open the weapons storage. Why?”
“Miss Tang, now that you’ve done enough good deeds, it will naturally open.”
“And my off-road vehicle and motorcycle—can I use them later?”
“Yes, you can.”
“Then can I use the space to instantly teleport anywhere?”
“Yes,” Black Impermanence added. “You can start by catching flower thieves.”
“Ah? Great! I’ll go right now, catch some flower thieves. Bye!” Yunshu said, bouncing three feet high, and immediately disappeared.
Back in her space, she quickly changed into a set of night clothes, disguised herself as a boy, and put on a Peking opera mask, leaving only her lively eyes visible.
With a thought, she instantly appeared in the town. The streets were pitch black and deserted, eerily silent.
Yunshu frowned—she knew nothing about this town, not even which households had girls of the right age. Searching blindly could take forever.
But since she was here, she would at least try.
She cautiously made her way through the residential area, alley by alley, exploring. After several alleys, she had found nothing.
Just as she was about to give up, she heard faint, scattered footsteps.
Her heart tightened. She quickly crouched at a corner, holding her breath, alert.
A shadowy figure sneaked past. After a few steps, he attempted light acrobatics—though clumsy, far from skilled in rooftop running.
Yunshu didn’t dare underestimate him and silently followed. The figure skillfully entered a courtyard and leapt inside.
Using her space, Yunshu ghosted silently behind him.
Hiding in her space, she could clearly see everything outside and hear every sound. She focused, wanting to see exactly what this man was up to.
The man pulled out a bamboo tube from his chest, blew some powder into the windows of several rooms, and then carefully used a crowbar to open a door, sneaking inside.
Yunshu’s curiosity peaked—was he a thief or a flower thief?
She couldn’t hold back and followed him inside, remaining hidden, observing every move.
The man had clearly prepared in advance, knowing the layout. He headed straight for a girl’s room like a phantom.
Seeing the girl asleep, he audaciously lit an oil lamp. By its dim light, he stared at her delicate face, a lecherous expression creeping over him. He reached out to touch her cheek and was about to undress her.
Yunshu’s fury boiled. This man was undoubtedly a flower thief.
Without hesitation, she leapt from her space like a tiger pouncing, grabbing his collar in a single bound.
The man was no ordinary fighter; he had some skill. They struggled fiercely.
Yunshu had been conditioning her body for over a month. Though her health had improved, she had only regained 20% of her past-life strength. Her body was small and only 13 years old, so she was at a disadvantage.
Breathless, she realized she couldn’t match him head-on. She used agility, dodging attacks and using clever leverage to counter.
Seeing an opening, she slipped back into her space and used her phone to buy a taser.
Returning, she thrust the taser at him. “Crackle!” Electricity surged through him, and he collapsed, twitching helplessly like a puddle of mud.
Yunshu quickly tied him up with ropes.
Spotting a water jug on the table, she poured a cup and splashed it on the girl’s face.
Awakened by the cold water, the girl opened her eyes to see a masked figure. Her face turned pale, and she tried to scream.
Quickly, Yunshu covered her mouth, lowering her voice.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to save you. This man is a flower thief—I’ve just subdued him. If you don’t believe me, watch. I’ll let go of you, but don’t scream.”
The girl, still trembling, nodded quickly.
“If I hadn’t arrived in time, you’d have been in danger. Your family has been drugged by him. I’ve tied him up. Splash their faces with water to wake them,” Yunshu instructed.
“Thank you, hero,” the girl said.
Yunshu intentionally lowered her voice, using a rough male tone. The girl assumed her rescuer was a man but wondered why he was so short.
She ran to wake her parents. The family hurried over.
After hearing the explanation, they looked at the tied man and confirmed he matched the sketch of the flower thief exactly. Their doubts vanished.
Yunshu searched the man and recovered bamboo tubes and other tools.
The parents, seeing this, trusted her completely. Overcome with gratitude, they tried to kneel and kowtow, repeatedly saying,
“Thank you for saving our daughter! Her chastity is precious—we will never forget your kindness!”
Yunshu steadied them. “Please, stand. I merely saw injustice and intervened. It was nothing. At dawn, take this man to the magistrate and be my witnesses.”
“Quickly, let’s rest in the main hall. Child, go make tea for the hero. I’ll escort this man to the hall.”
