The history of the Devil race itself had changed dramatically.
During the ancient war between the Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils, Lilith had not met the fate described in the anime. Nor had she remained a helpless victim.
While Hades had indeed attempted to capture her for his twisted experiments involving the creation of powerful Devil soldiers, the outcome had been entirely different.
The Lilith of this world was far stronger than the version depicted in the memories he had received.
She stood on equal footing with the original Lucifer himself.
A being of immense power.
A true Primordial Devil.
After Lucifer’s death during the Devil Civil War, Lilith naturally rose to prominence. She became the undisputed Mother of Devils and was later recognized throughout the Underworld as the Devil Empress.
It was she who held the fractured Devil race together during its most chaotic period.
It was through her influence and authority that the Four New Satans were ultimately chosen.
Contrary to what many outsiders assumed, Lilith and the original Lucifer had never been husband and wife in this world.
In fact, she despised him.
Deeply.
To Lilith, Lucifer was directly responsible for the chain of events that led to her exile from the Garden of Eden and her transformation into a Devil.
Their relationship had been one of constant rivalry.
They led the same faction and cooperated when necessary, particularly against external enemies, but there had never been affection between them.
Only mutual necessity.
When Lucifer died, his followers naturally gravitated toward the strongest remaining authority among the Devils.
Lilith inherited much of his influence and became the uncontested ruler of the surviving Devil factions.
Years later, after Sirzechs inherited the title of Satan Lucifer, the two of them began working closely together to rebuild the Underworld.
What started as political cooperation gradually evolved into friendship.
Friendship became trust.
Trust became affection.
And after decades spent standing side by side through countless crises, that affection eventually blossomed into love.
The Devil Empress and the Crimson Satan had become husband and wife not because fate demanded it, but because they had chosen one another.
Yet another difference from the world shown in the anime.
And the more Sirzechs compared the two realities, the more convinced he became that the memories he had received were nothing more than a glimpse into a completely different universe.
His other wife was Grayfia.
Unlike the timeline shown in the anime memories, they did not yet have a son. That was still a matter for the future. However, they already had a daughter together, a bright and beloved child who had inherited traits from both of her parents.
The presence of Lilith had also drastically altered the course of Devil history.
The Devil Civil War had still occurred, but it had been far less devastating than the one depicted in the memories. Thanks to the authority and influence of the Mother of Devils, the conflict never escalated into a complete massacre.
Rather than entire bloodlines being wiped out, the struggle was largely confined to the upper echelons of the Old Satan Faction. In the end, the ruling houses of the Four Satans were replaced by the new generation, with Lilith lending her support to ensure a stable transition of power.
Grayfia herself had originally fought on the side of the Old Devil Faction as a member of House Lucifuge.
However, her eventual defection was met with far less criticism than in the anime’s version of events.
After all, she had not abandoned her people for personal ambition.
She had simply chosen to serve the Mother of Devils.
Under Lilith’s banner, Grayfia quickly established herself as one of the most capable and respected figures in the Underworld. Her natural talent, unwavering loyalty, and meticulous nature made her indispensable.
Her dedication to her duties eventually became something more personal.
Years of serving alongside Sirzechs allowed affection to gradually blossom between them. What began as admiration and loyalty slowly transformed into genuine love.
She eventually became his Queen, and her maid duties transformed into her passion.
After many years of serving both him and Lilith, she also became his wife upon becoming pregnant with his daughter; it was likely she would not have married him otherwise.
In her mind, it was simply her duty to serve him in all matters, including the bedroom.
Even now, Sirzechs sometimes found it amusing how strongly Grayfia’s sense of duty influenced her decisions.
In her own mind, she often viewed caring for him, supporting him, and standing at his side as responsibilities she had willingly chosen to shoulder.
And perhaps that unwavering devotion was one of the many reasons he loved her so much.
His peerage was also vastly different from the one depicted in the anime memories.
The first and most important member was, of course, Grayfia Lucifuge, his Queen and one of the strongest Devils in existence. As his right hand and closest confidant, she was the pillar that supported both his household and much of the Underworld’s administration.
But she was far from the only extraordinary individual within his peerage.
One of his Rook pieces was the legendary Chaos Karma Dragon, Tiamat. Through a unique mutation of the Evil Pieces system, she had become far stronger than an ordinary Rook, embodying both overwhelming draconic power and near-limitless potential which complemented her Magic.
His Knight piece was none other than the legendary God Slayer, Scathach.
The undefeated warrior queen of the Land of Shadows possessed skill and battle experience that few beings in the world could hope to match. Even among the strongest members of his peerage, she stood near the very top.
Another of his Rooks was Elsha, the strongest female Red Dragon Empress.
A dragon whose might was feared across multiple realms, she possessed enough raw power to challenge even the highest tiers of supernatural beings.
His Bishop pieces were equally impressive.
One was Yasaka, the legendary Nine-Tailed Fox whose mastery over illusion, spiritual arts, and ancient magic made her an invaluable asset with her mastery over Battle aura.
The other was the Saintess Jeanne d’Arc, whose holy power, unwavering faith, and combat ability had earned her a place among the most respected figures within the supernatural world.
Together, they formed the core members of his current peerage.
Each one was a monster in their own right.
Each one possessed enough power to stand at the peak of their respective races and legends.
Looking back on the memories of the anime, Sirzechs found one detail particularly amusing.
The presence of Elsha alone had prevented one of the most significant events from ever occurring.
The Boosted Gear.
As the current wielder of the Sacred Gear, Elsha was still very much alive and thriving. Since Sacred Gears did not pass on until their hosts died, there was no possibility of the Boosted Gear ending up in the hands of the anime’s protagonist.
That realization alone helped calm some of the irritation he felt toward those memories.
At the very least, one of the greatest variables in that timeline no longer existed.
And considering the caliber of individuals gathered within his peerage, Sirzechs was fairly certain that even if fate attempted to follow the path of that alternate world, it would quickly discover that this reality played by an entirely different set of rules.
