The next day...
Sirzechs sat alone in his private study, his gaze fixed on the translucent blue screen hovering before him.
Displayed across it was the System’s World Travel interface.
An endless list of worlds stretched across the screen, each one representing an entirely different universe waiting to be explored.
The selection process was surprisingly detailed.
First, he had to choose the world itself.
Then he had to select the timeline he wished to enter.
After that came the choice of alternate realities and branching universes that existed within the same setting.
Finally, he could use the System’s function to create an identity that fit naturally within the chosen world’s history and laws, all within the logical limitations established by the System.
Sirzechs had spent most of the previous day considering his options.
After weighing the risks and benefits of countless worlds, he had finally reached a decision.
The first world he would visit would be the world of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
There were several reasons behind his choice.
First and foremost, the Cardinal World possessed a significantly higher overall power ceiling than his current world.
The existence of True Dragons, Ultimate Skills, and beings capable of affecting reality itself made it one of the most powerful worlds available to him.
More importantly, if everything went according to plan, he could obtain a tremendous increase in strength with relatively little risk.
Even if his plans failed, he would still gain substantial benefits simply by entering the world.
Through the System’s World Attunement function, his body and soul would become synchronized with the laws of the Cardinal World. That alone would grant him access to Magicules—the fundamental energy of that universe.
His existing powers would also be recognized by the Voice of the World and converted into Skills.
Considering the absurd nature of some of his abilities, Sirzechs had little doubt that he would atleast gain one extraordinarily powerful Unique Skills.
No matter how he looked at it, the trip was overwhelmingly beneficial.
There was virtually nothing to lose and everything to gain.
As such, the Tensura world became his first choice.
After making his decision, he selected the world from the endless list.
Next came the timeline.
After some consideration, he chose the main timeline.
Then he moved on to his arrival location.
A familiar cave appeared on the screen.
The cave where the Storm Dragon Veldora had been imprisoned.
The same cave where Rimuru Tempest would eventually awaken after his reincarnation.
It was an ideal starting point.
Not only was it isolated and relatively safe, but it also placed him at the center of several future opportunities.
Finally, he selected his arrival date.
To avoid any unforeseen complications, he chose to arrive one day before Rimuru’s reincarnation.
That would give him enough time to familiarize himself with the environment and prepare for whatever opportunities—or surprises—the Cardinal World had in store.
Once everything was set, the System displayed the final confirmation window.
World: Cardinal World
Timeline: Main Timeline
Arrival Location: Sealed Cave of the Storm Dragon Veldora
Arrival Time: One Day Before the Reincarnation of Rimuru Tempest
World Attunement: Ready
Identity Generation: Pending
Confirm World Travel?
Sirzechs stared at the screen for several moments.
A smile slowly spread across his face.
The excitement he had been suppressing since awakening the memories of his previous life finally surfaced.
A completely new universe.
A higher power system.
Countless possibilities.
Then came the time to choose his background.
The very first thing Sirzechs attempted was selecting the identity of the Red Primordial Demon, Guy Crimson.
As expected, the System immediately rejected the request.
Identity Selection Failed.
Reason: Host’s current power level is insufficient to match the selected identity.
Sirzechs frowned and fell into thought.
After a few moments, he began to understand the logic behind the System’s restrictions.
The World Attunement function could create a suitable identity for him within a world’s established framework, but it could not simply transform him into one of the strongest beings in existence. The identity had to be both logically possible and reasonably compatible with his current level of power.
Otherwise, anyone could become a creator god simply by selecting an overpowered identity before entering a new world.
The System clearly did not work that way.
Letting out a sigh, Sirzechs began searching for the next best option.
Eventually, his eyes settled on a more suitable choice.
A Demon Peer of the Red Primordial lineage.
In the world of Tensura, the evolution path of the daemon race was relatively straightforward:
Lesser Daemon → Greater Daemon → Archdaemon → Demon Peer → Devil Lord
Since Guy Crimson himself stood at the pinnacle as a Devil Lord, it was only natural that Sirzechs could not directly assume such an identity.
A Demon Peer, however, was different.
The primary requirement for becoming a Demon Peer was obtaining a physical body rather than existing solely as a spiritual lifeform, which was the natural state of most daemons.
Fortunately, Sirzechs already possessed a powerful physical body.
Meeting that requirement was effortless for him.
The final evolution into a Devil Lord required three conditions:
1. Possession of a physical body.
2. Acquisition of a true name.
3. The attainment of Divinity.
Only after fulfilling all three requirements could a daemon evolve into a Devil Lord, an existence capable of standing on equal footing with the world’s strongest beings.
Such entities possessed immortal bodies that neither aged nor deteriorated with time.
After carefully considering his options, Sirzechs selected the identity of a Demon Peer descended from the Red Primordial lineage.
A moment later, the System responded.
Identity Selection Successful.
Assigned Identity: Demon Peer of the Red Primordial Lineage.
A faint smile appeared on Sirzechs’ face.
This was more than sufficient.
He had never intended to rely entirely on the System’s gifts. What mattered was gaining a foothold in the world and taking advantage of the opportunities it offered.
Once everything was finalized, he selected the Travel option.
The blue screen shimmered.
Space around him began to distort.
Countless streams of light emerged from nowhere, wrapping around his body as the barriers between worlds started to open.
Sirzechs took one final glance at his home universe.
Then he stepped forward.
The fabric of reality folded around him.
And without leaving behind even the slightest trace of his existence, Sirzechs Lucifer vanished from the DxD universe, beginning his journey to the Cardinal World.
