“Xiao Ning, how much can the Small Space hold? What should we take?”
“Not much, the space is very small. Bottled water, crackers, instant noodles—anything that’s easy to store will do.”
“Over here, there’s some.” Song You’ai had worked at the Aijia Supermarket for over twenty years and knew the layout best.
Seeing her daughter looking ready to sweep the shelves, she quickly pulled her aside to the lower section of a shelf, opened the cabinet door, and took out boxes of bottled water and instant noodles from the stockpile.
Xie Ning reached out and placed her hand over the boxes.
Song You’ai’s eyes widened in curiosity as over a dozen boxes vanished into thin air.
Meanwhile, Xie Ning stood there in a daze, her expression turning strange.
Ever since she was reborn, she hadn’t taken a close look at her space.
She had assumed it was the same useless little space from her previous life—just two square meters, barely enough to fit a small 1.2-meter bed.
At most, it could hold a few dozen boxes of instant noodles or similar items.
But now, her entire face was a picture of utter confusion.
What met her eyes was the circular sofa area of her family’s villa living room.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath to steady herself, and when she looked into her Small Space again, she nearly jumped out of her skin.
It was no wonder someone who had survived the apocalypse for twenty years would react so out of character.
The Small Space had truly transformed—from a two-square-meter area to their family’s hundred-square-meter living room.
The familiar floor-to-ceiling windows and long drapes.
The familiar sound-absorbing plasterboard ceiling, paired with the expansive TV wall ahead.
In sight was a small reading area.
The bookshelf was neatly stacked with many unread books, and next to it, on the standing smart water dispenser, sat her little bear teacup.
It even seemed to have half a cup of overnight water left inside…
With a thought, the little bear teacup appeared in her hand.
Song You’ai’s eyes nearly popped out of her head!
Xie Ning took a sip of water and handed it to her mother. “Mom, I’ll explain everything in detail later.”
Song You’ai, having been frightened all day without a drop of water, was indeed very thirsty. After gulping down the half cup of water, she felt even more ravenous.
Xie Ning placed the teacup back on the water dispenser, glanced around the living room, and was delighted to find that besides the dozen or so boxes she had just stored, there were two large cardboard boxes by the entrance.
“Mom, did the box of ugly mandarins and the box of cherries I bought online arrive?”
“They did,” Song You’ai said with a troubled look. “I left them in the living room, planning to have you unpack them when you got back. Who knew…”
Who knew the world would suddenly turn upside down!
“I wonder if we can go back once to pack some things?” Song You’ai asked, her face full of worry.
Xie Ning shook her head. “Going back to the city is too dangerous. We can’t.”
“Ah, all that food in the fridge—what a waste!”
They had left for work just fine, but now they couldn’t go back.
Still unsure of the situation, Xie Ning grabbed an ugly mandarin and handed it to her mother. “Have a few bites to fill your stomach first, then let’s see what else we can take up ahead.”
Song You’ai stared blankly at the mandarin in her hand but didn’t ask any questions.
The mother and daughter moved forward cautiously, trying not to make a sound.
Fortunately, there weren’t many zombies in this area, and they made their way smoothly.
When they passed the checkout area, Xie Ning grabbed a handful of large plastic bags, handed some to her mother, and continued walking while picking up whatever food they could find—no matter what it was, they took it first.
“Later, we’ll go to the household goods section and grab some things.”
Items like toilet paper, tissues, soap, shampoo, and other daily necessities may seem truly insignificant on ordinary days, but they really are…
Only those who go without them in the future will understand!
