Jiang Li stood in front of the mirror, looking at the pale, youthful face reflected back at her. She could hardly believe she had returned to the time six months before the apocalypse. Yes, the apocalypse. The end of the world had truly come.
If someone had told her about it in the past, she would never have believed it. But now, having already lived through one lifetime of it, Jiang Li had no choice but to accept that it was real.
Right now, it was still half a year before the apocalypse. In six months, the world would be plunged into brutal natural disasters and officially enter the end times. First came extreme heat, earthquakes, and extreme cold. Then came perpetual daylight and endless night. After a torrential rainstorm, zombies appeared. Even plants and animals began to mutate, making human survival even more difficult.
And she had died in the sixth year after the apocalypse began. She had struggled to survive through all kinds of disasters for six years, enduring everything she could. But in the end, after going two days without food or water, she had no choice but to go out in search of supplies. She accidentally ran into a large horde of zombies and was eventually exhausted to death at their hands.
After confirming that she had truly been reborn six months before the apocalypse, Jiang Li’s first reaction was to open the refrigerator and look for food.
Seeing the bananas and apples inside, she immediately started eating ravenously. In no time, she finished a banana and an apple. She missed this taste so much.
In the apocalypse, fruits and vegetables were true luxuries. Being able to simply fill one’s stomach was already a blessing, no one dared to expect taste.
Looking at the food in the fridge, she couldn’t help thinking that it would be great if she had a spatial storage like those in novels. That way she could…
Before she could finish the thought, a sudden warmth spread through her chest. A scene appeared in her mind.
It was a vast, boundless space that stretched as far as she could see. The space was divided into two sections. The left side was like a motionless overcast sky, silent and empty, containing nothing at all. The right side, however, was bright like sunlight, yet not blinding. Inside it, there was even land. She could sense that this half of the space was alive and flowing.
She tried it out and discovered that although she couldn’t enter the space herself, she could perceive everything inside it clearly.
Jiang Li was genuinely shocked and overjoyed. She didn’t expect that in this life she would actually awaken a spatial ability. She had previously been worried about where she would store all the supplies she planned to buy, but now that problem was completely solved. Not only that, but she no longer had to worry about things spoiling. Most importantly, there was nothing safer or more reassuring than carrying everything with her at all times.
Thinking back to the sudden warmth in her chest earlier, she took a mirror and looked. Just below her collarbone, in a spot quite close to it, there was now an unfamiliar red birthmark shaped like some kind of flower. She had no recollection of it ever being there before.
In her previous life, Jiang Li was certain she had no birthmark on her body at all, especially not in such an obvious place. Although she didn’t understand why she had been reborn, or why this birthmark had appeared, since she had been given a second chance at life, and even awakened such a space, she was determined to live this life well.
She transferred everything in the refrigerator into the left side of the space, then cooked herself a bowl of noodles. Sitting on the sofa, she ate heartily. It was so delicious. She hadn’t tasted food like this in so long, she had truly missed it.
After finishing, she took an ice cream out from the space and found that it was exactly the same as when she had put it in, completely unmelted. This confirmed her suspicion: the left side of the space really was in a state of stasis. Whatever condition an item was in when stored would remain unchanged when taken out. In fact, she had deliberately stored it earlier just to test this very thing.
The right side of the space contains soil, so it should definitely be possible to grow some food there. Once harvested, the crops could also provide seeds, making it possible to become completely self-sufficient.
Jiang Li sat down in front of the computer, entered all the supplies she needed to prepare, and printed the list out. There were simply too many items to buy. If she later remembered anything she had missed, she could just add it directly.
Jiang Li was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. At the age of 20, while studying, she started her own small business and founded a company. It had already been running for five years. Aside from the first year, her annual income had been around 1.6 to 1.7 million. Not long ago, she had just bought this apartment for over five million, and now she only had 1.8 million left in her bank account.
She put down her phone. It was already past nine. Jiang Li decided to rest well today and go out tomorrow instead. There were still six months before the apocalypse, so she had plenty of time.
She also decided that tomorrow she would first handle matters related to her company and sell it off, so she could free up more capital. Before selling the company, she would use up the funds she currently had on hand.
As for the apartment, she could continue living in it for now. When she ran out of money in a few months, she would sell it then. Regarding where to live after selling it, Jiang Li had already chosen a residential community where she could rent a place. After all, once the apocalypse arrived, property would be useless anyway, it would be far more practical to sell it and use the money to buy supplies.
