The feeling of a headshot was strange.

Lin Qun felt as if something had been instantly pulled out from inside his head.

Right after that, a wave of dizziness and disorientation hit him.Full novel: Apocalypse: I Can Infinite Card Draw Buffs — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But the effect was terrifying.

The Bakatan Civilization creature had been sneering just a second ago, but the next second, its head suddenly burst apart.

Like a watermelon put in a microwave.

There was a loud bang.

Right in front of everyone.

Blood and gore exploded outward.

Its massive body swayed for a moment, then crashed to the ground.

It fell right in front of Fan Wenchuan and the others.

Because the distance was so close, the splattering blood even sprayed onto the young man in black's face.

For a moment, the scene fell into a dead silence.

Then came the shouts of shock and wild joy.

Fan Wenchuan said, "It's dead? It's dead! Worthy of being B-rank, awesome, awesome!"

The others joined in the commotion.

Clearly, in their eyes, the death of this Bakatan Civilization creature was the achievement of the B-rank Awakened talent they'd hired.

Because that was the only explanation.

A moment ago, only that B-rank had been standing at the front!

But what they didn't know was...

The young man in black was equally dumbfounded.

The Bakatan Civilization creature had drawn close.

He'd been so terrified his liver and gallbladder had nearly split apart, he couldn't even run, let alone make a move.

Although he was B-rank, Fan Wenchuan and the others didn't actually know what his ability was. The innate ability from his Awakened talent was support-type, something called Holy Light Summon, which could provide illumination and heal Injuries.

At a low level, this ability had no offensive power whatsoever.

Even he himself didn't know why such a weakling ability was ranked B-class.

He'd just been using his ability to bluff and swindle, figuring he'd stick with a group first and think about the rest later. When Fan Wenchuan had found him, he hadn't thought much of it either.

Who could have imagined a scene like this would happen so soon?

Because of that, the young man in black was certain.

He wasn't the one who'd killed this Monster.

But...

Who was it, then?

Who could be so amazing?

His own B-rank talent hadn't been able to do anything about this Bakatan Lifeform—so who could have pulled that off?

The young man in black swallowed hard, and as Fan Wenchuan dragged him around, his gaze swept over the people behind him, watching them look at him with reverence, as if he were some big shot.

He thought to himself...

The real big shot might be hiding among these very people!

Who was it?

Who could it possibly be?

He was starting to regret this a little now.

Who would've known there'd really be a Global Civilization War, and that Monsters would appear so fast and so terrifyingly?

What was he supposed to do?

I'm being mistaken for a big shot now—next time, won't they just push me out front again?

"I..." The young man in black really wanted to say he wasn't the one.

But Fan Wenchuan had already rushed up excitedly, grabbing the young man in black's hand and raising it high, saying, "I told you, I found a B-rank Awakened talent to protect us all! Come on, everyone, don't push, let's get into the building in order. With Brother Li here, none of us need to be afraid!"

What had just happened, along with Fan Wenchuan's words, gave everyone enough confidence.

The panic was still spreading, but people had calmed down quite a bit, and began filing into the building in an orderly manner to take shelter.

Only then did Fan Wenchuan lower his voice and say, "Brother, I won't let you protect us for nothing. The amount of protection fee Supplies I promised you earlier—I'll double it! I don't think anyone will object!"

Hearing about these benefits, the young man in black swallowed hard, forcing back the words he'd been about to say, and instead gritted his teeth and said, "Quick, let's hide in here first. Five Monsters came at us, and we killed one—the rest will definitely rush over here fast!"

In fact...

at that very moment, Lin Qun was thinking the exact same thing.

He was just standing up from behind the flower bed, anxiously looking off into the distance.

The other Monsters should be arriving soon.

He needed to get into a building first.

Still, he felt a lot more composed now.

His Skill worked.

It could kill these Bakatan Civilization creatures!

All he had to do was hide himself away as thoroughly as possible—only that way could he snipe them in secret and keep his own risk to a minimum.

The sheer madness of the massacre he'd just witnessed had chilled Lin Qun to the core. Right now he had no other thoughts at all, only to hide and survive.

Still, he noticed that with each use of his Skill,

the number in his Energy bar had actually changed.

【Energy: 10/12】

Using the Headshot Girl Skill once cost two points of Energy?

No wonder he'd felt disoriented.

So it was his Energy dropping.

And that wasn't all—Lin Qun noticed the text in his eyes had changed again.

New text scrolled into view.

【You have successfully killed an Alien Civilization Creature. Civilization Contribution Points +1, experience points +50.】

【You have unlocked Civilization Contribution Points.】

【You have unlocked the level up System.】

【10 Civilization Contribution Points can be used for one Skill card draw.】

【100 Civilization Contribution Points can level up your current Talent Skill to Level 2!】

【Accumulating enough Civilization Contribution Points allows you to unlock Civilization Technology or exchange for special Civilization Authority.】

【Note: within the Global Battlefield, killing one Alien Civilization Creature instantly grants one Civilization Contribution Point.】

So this was how leveling up worked?

Killing one Bakatan Civilization creature had also earned him fifty experience points.

That meant if he killed one more, Lin Qun's Personal Level would rise to Level 2.

What would change when his Personal Level went up?

And then there were Contribution Points—incredibly useful, but only obtainable by massacring Alien Civilization creatures!

No wonder... no wonder these civilizations were rushing to enter the Battlefield early. The Bakatan Civilization's people hadn't even bothered with formalities after Landing—they'd gone straight to killing!

To them, the native Humans of this Homeland were nothing but a bunch of walking Contribution Points!

And just then, in two other directions, more Bakatan Civilization Lifeforms appeared!

This time there were two.

They had already learned of their companion's death and were rushing over quickly.

This time, they no longer underestimated their opponents—firing wildly from a long distance the moment they were near, spraying bullets in bursts at anyone among the buildings who dared to poke their head out!

Fortunately, in the brief moment before, Fan Wenchuan and the young man in black had already hidden themselves, all pinned down inside the building!

The two Bakatan Civilization creatures were quickly closing in on the corpse of the one that had died earlier.

They were clearly far more cautious now.

Advancing step by step.

They examined the corpse, utterly astonished.

They hadn't expected that among the Humans they were massacring, someone had actually managed to kill one of their companions!

Their Civilization Technology was only slightly more advanced than humanity's, but their Life Form was superior, and every one of them was a Warrior—yet here they were, massacring civilians, only to be killed by one of those very civilians in return!

Fan Wenchuan and the young man in black and the others were so pinned down they couldn't even lift their heads.

Meanwhile, Lin Qun stayed hidden behind the flower bed, moving silently and slowly, lingering in the blind spots of their vision!

Having seen what the Contribution Points could do, he understood clearly: between them and the Alien Civilization, it was kill or be killed.

These two Bakatan Civilization Lifeforms had to die too.

While they hadn't noticed him yet, their attention completely fixed on Fan Wenchuan and the others, he searched for an angle to snipe them directly!

Meanwhile, in the stairwell, bullets were tearing chunks off the walls—a few unlucky souls had already been shot straight through the walls and killed.

Fan Wenchuan and the others trembled in fear, their eyes all fixed on the young man in black.

"Brother, help us!"

"Brother Li, big shot, go out there and eliminate them, hurry, or once they get in here, we're all dead for sure!"

These people were all terrified out of their minds—the young man in black was their only hope.

But cold sweat was already pouring down the young man in black's face.

Go out there? Like hell he would!

He had no such ability.

Wouldn't going out there just get him blown to pieces?

With everyone staring at him, stuck in a difficult position, his gaze darted back and forth over the people around him.

Whoever that big shot from before was, hurry up and show yourself!

If you don't come out now, once those two Monsters get here, we're all dead!

Little did he know, the real big shot he was searching for wasn't even here at all—he was hiding outside, tucked away in a corner.

As the young man in black panicked, he instinctively poked his head out to take a look, and his face went pale with fear.

Because those two Bakatan Civilization creatures had also turned to look his way.

And worse, they'd both raised their gun barrels.

However...

that was all that happened.

In just the next second, the head of the Bakatan Civilization creature at the very front burst apart again, just like before!

The young man in black blinked.

The other Bakatan Lifeform was greatly surprised—it hadn't seen how its companion had died at all. Instinctively, it retreated, spraying bullets wildly.

But it still aimed in the wrong direction.

And so...

the very next second,

its head burst apart too.

Blood sprayed everywhere.

Lin Qun's Energy dropped to six, far below the normal safe line now.

Everything went dark before his eyes, and he slumped down behind the flower bed.

In that moment, the outside world seemed to grow distant, as if far away.

It felt like the hazy, ethereal state of a Sage after ten consecutive rounds hooked to an IV.

Although he had twelve points of Energy,

he absolutely could not let it drop to zero.

Otherwise, he would die for certain.

Twelve points of Energy.

Enough for five Skill uses, at most!

Lin Qun gasped for breath, then saw new text appear on the interface before his eyes.
