His expression was frightening, and his behavior had become increasingly aggressive.
“Mm… no…”
Terrified, Xia Niannian struggled desperately. Her face had gone pale with fear, and tears streamed down her cheeks as she tried to push him away.
“Please… no…”
But her fear only seemed to make it harder for Pei Xun to regain control.
“Little Princess…”
He held her tightly and repeatedly murmured that name in a hoarse, almost obsessive voice.
“Little Princess… Little Princess…”
Pei Xun had gone mad. He must have gone completely mad!
Xia Niannian kept crying and begging him to stop.
“Pei Xun… I’ll call you Brother. Please don’t bully me…”
“Pei Xun, I’m scared. Please don’t be like this.”
But Pei Xun seemed unable to control himself.
“Little Princess, look at me…”
His scarlet eyes were unfocused as he stared at her.
“Little Princess.”
It sounded almost like a devoted believer calling out to a god.
“Please… no…”
Xia Niannian squeezed her eyes shut and cried until she could barely catch her breath.
“Pei Xun, you stinky Pei Xun! You’re a huge bully!”
Xia Niannian finally began cursing him.
The man merely let out a low laugh and whispered beside her ear, “Call me Brother.”
“No!”
Xia Niannian stubbornly refused. She would never call him that again.
Pei Xun was a terrible person. She was going to tell her three brothers and Uncle Pei everything and make them punish this great demon properly.
“Not obedient?”
Pei Xun closed his eyes and spoke in a low voice.
“Disobedient children have to be punished.”
“Punished? What punishment?”
Before Xia Niannian could think about it any further, Pei Xun turned her around.
“Please… Brother, I’ll call you Brother, all right?”
“Please stop bullying me.”
“Too late.”
The man gave a low chuckle.
Xia Niannian gritted her teeth.
Bad guy. He was such a bad guy!
She could not stop crying.
The terrifying ordeal continued for hours.
By then, Xia Niannian felt completely exhausted. More importantly, from Pei Xun’s fragmented and irrational words, she finally learned something terrifying.
The outside world had already entered the Apocalypse.
About ten hours earlier, the strange Apocalypse had suddenly descended.
All kinds of bizarre creatures had appeared throughout the world. They possessed an extreme instinct for killing and were hunting humans everywhere.
At the same time, humans had begun awakening supernatural abilities to defend themselves against these creatures.
But if a human was killed by one of the creatures, they would become one of them as well.
For some unknown reason, Pei Xun had died.
Afterward, he had become one of the strange creatures. He seemed to have killed most of the creatures in the school before heading straight toward her dormitory.
Pei Xun, this great demon, must have come to kill her.
The thought made Xia Niannian shudder.
Fortunately, she had awakened an ability of her own and had Enslaved Pei Xun as her subordinate. Because of that, Pei Xun could no longer kill her.
She simply could not understand why this terrible man, despite already being her subordinate, still dared to bully her.
Afterward.
Xia Niannian pitifully wrapped herself in her blanket and curled up under the covers. Her cheeks were puffed out in anger.
“You’re my subordinate. You have to listen to me.”
Pei Xun had finally regained his composure. He leaned lazily against Xia Niannian’s favorite pale-yellow headboard and casually played with her favorite plush sea turtle, the one with the words “Don’t Mess With Me” on it.
Seeing him holding her beloved toy made Xia Niannian pout even more.
A wicked smile appeared at the corner of Pei Xun’s lips. His scarlet eyes were mesmerizing, and his voice carried a teasing charm.
“Little Princess, making me your subordinate naturally comes with a price. Perhaps you would like to give me one of your arms, one of your legs, or even your eyes?”
“No!”
That was terrifying.
Xia Niannian immediately hid herself beneath the blanket. She did not want to become disabled.
Pei Xun pulled the blanket down, revealing her frightened face. His smile was both wicked and teasing.
“Well? Which one will you choose? Have you decided?”
“I.”
Xia Niannian puffed out her lips, on the verge of crying again.
She did not want to give up any of them.
But the way Pei Xun had behaved earlier was terrifying. He was an extraordinarily powerful creature who had killed countless others, while she was merely a newly awakened novice.
What if he eventually broke through the restraints imposed by Enslavement?
Xia Niannian wisely began to say, “Then maybe…”
But she could not bring herself to finish.
“What?”
Pei Xun smiled casually and pressed her for an answer.
Xia Niannian bit her lip, feeling as though she was about to cry again.
Tears gathered in her swollen eyes.
Pei Xun gently brushed one away with the back of his finger and gave a quiet chuckle.
“Then be good and listen to me.”
Xia Niannian was terribly aggrieved. She pouted angrily.
Pei Xun seemed to enjoy watching the frightened, timid, yet stubborn expression on the Little Princess’s face.
“Call me Brother.”
The Little Princess, doll-like and sweet-voiced, calling him Brother was something he had wanted for more than ten years.
Xia Niannian wanted to refuse, but when she met his frightening eyes, she could only bite her lip.
She reluctantly whispered, “Brother.”
“Louder.”
“Brother.”
Xia Niannian pouted unhappily.
Bad guy. Stinky Pei Xun.
One day, she would get her revenge!
Pei Xun smiled with satisfaction and returned the plush sea turtle to her.
He kept teasing her, making Xia Niannian immediately become nervous again.
“Don’t…”
“Good girl.”
“Please, I don’t want to…”
Xia Niannian was frightened. Pei Xun was far too powerful, and she was afraid she could not withstand him.
“Be good, all right?”
Whenever Pei Xun’s desires became difficult to control, his rationality seemed to disappear and his eyes became even redder.
The terrifying atmosphere made Xia Niannian repeatedly plead with him.
“I’ll be good. Please don’t bully me. I’m scared.”
“Be good. It’ll be all right.”
Pei Xun tried to calm her down, forcing himself to remain composed.
Suddenly, Xia Niannian noticed that the phone beneath her pillow was lighting up.
She quickly pulled it out.
There were hundreds of missed calls.
Oh no!
They were all from her parents and her three brothers.
It must have been because of the Apocalypse. Her family had been unable to contact her for so long and must have been terribly worried.
Xia Niannian immediately answered the phone.
“Second Brother.”
Her voice was filled with tears.
There was a noisy hum on the other end.
The moment her Second Brother, Xia Yibai, heard his younger sister crying, he immediately became anxious.
“Niannian, are you hurt? Are you in the dormitory? Don’t be afraid. Brother has already brought the army to rescue you. We’ll be there soon. Niannian, don’t be afraid. Brother will protect you.”
