Su Jin’s mouth twitched upon hearing this.

A young miss is still a young miss, after all.

Even in the apocalypse, she still had such high standards for living. Along the way, they had survived entirely by gnawing on dry bread and eating canned food.Full novel: Apocalypse Invasion: Cultivation Master Becomes a God with All-Element Abilities — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Su Jin wanted to say something, but recalling Chao Xun’s dual-element abilities, she eventually swallowed her words. Forget it; capable people are always different.

Su Jin now just hoped this young miss wouldn’t cause any more trouble on the road so that their entire party could return to the base safely. She pulled out a piece of dry bread and started chewing, though it didn’t seem particularly unpalatable—after all, in the apocalypse, being able to eat anything at all was a blessing. However, smelling the fragrant aroma of the dishes wafting from Jiang Chuan’s pot, she couldn’t help but swallow her saliva.

It was a feast for the eyes and the nose, and there was even freshly steamed white rice.

“Jiang Chuan, is this what you and Miss Chu have been eating the whole way here?”

Jiang Chuan nodded. “Yeah, Sister Xun just loves freshly cooked meals.”

Speaking of this, he couldn’t help but feel proud. Fortunately, as a former wealthy young master with a knack for cooking, I can take good care of Sister Xun. His unreliable father was in the catering business, and with a family background in the industry, he had loved hanging out in the kitchen since he was a kid. Chinese, Western, all eight great regional cuisines—he knew them all!

Jiang Chuan felt that with Sister Xun’s abilities, she would attract more and more followers in the future. He certainly wouldn’t be the strongest among them, so he had to rely on his culinary skills to solidify his position by her side.

Thinking about it, his father owned several large cold storage warehouses used to stock ingredients. He wondered if anyone had touched the contents after the apocalypse began. If not…

Jiang Chuan’s eyes brightened instantly. If those storage units were untouched, he could totally get Sister Xun to collect all the ingredients inside! Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Standing by the pot, Su Jin finished her bread amidst the aroma of the food, but in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to ask for a share. Jiang Chuan didn’t offer any either. Was his cooking something just anyone could taste?

After finishing the meal, Jiang Chuan took out a smaller pot, boiled several large chunks of meat, and steamed a fish.

Su Jin was puzzled: “What are you doing?”

Jiang Chuan: “Preparing food for Qilin.”

Su Jin asked curiously: “Who is Qilin?”

Chao Xun happened to walk down from the car, holding Qilin.

Jiang Chuan gestured toward it. “There, that’s Qilin, Sister Xun’s beloved cat.”

Su Jin was speechless. Are cats living better than us these days?! Chu Chaoxun was truly worthy of the title “young miss”—even in the apocalypse, she was so indulgent that her cat was eating meat. When would she realize that in this world, food was the scarcest resource?

Su Jin wanted to say more but ultimately said nothing and walked away. Young Miss Chu had been pampered her whole life, and now that she had awakened dual-element abilities, she probably hadn’t suffered any real hardship other than being separated from her team at the start of the apocalypse. Once they returned to the base, with the Commander-in-Chief and Colonel Chu around, her life would be even easier. That was just how it was for those with good luck.

Su Jin returned to her own car and commanded in a stern voice: “Everyone stay alert! Report immediately if you notice anything unusual!”

Wang Peng looked at the fragrant food not far away but didn’t dare open his mouth. He was afraid that if he did, tears would start streaming down his face. Sigh, Young Miss Chu is living far too comfortably in the apocalypse.

“Vice Team Leader Su, do you think we could trade some supplies for some?” Since leaving the base, he hadn’t had a single hot meal.

Chen Yi also chimed in: “Yeah, Vice Team Leader. We’re practically on the same team now. Why don’t you ask Miss Chu if we can trade for some meat to cook ourselves?”

They didn’t have many supplies left. Besides water, most of what they had was bread and canned food. There was no meat, and no vegetables.

Su Jin thought about it, and looking at the eyes of her team members, she turned around to ask.

When Jiang Chuan saw her approaching, he pursed his lips and tossed a bag of frozen meat toward her. “Sister Xun just said that in appreciation for the hard work you put into the rescue, you can have this meat.”

Su Jin was stunned, catching the meat. “Thank you.”

As Jiang Chuan watched her leave with the meat, he turned back to Chao Xun with a flattering expression. “Sister Xun, I just remembered that I have several large cold storage warehouses not far ahead. Should we go take a look? If the stuff is still there, we can get quite a bit of food.”

His family’s warehouses were equipped with generators and backup batteries. If everything went well, the frozen items should still be in good condition.

Jiang Chuan added: “If I remember correctly, the storage capacity of each of my family’s warehouses is a fixed 7 tons. Aside from standard chicken, duck, and fish, there’s beef and mutton of excellent quality. We can use it to make you plenty of new dishes later.”

Chao Xun’s eyes brightened slightly. If there was good food, she certainly couldn’t pass that up.

She did a quick calculation with her fingers. Akakuchi (Red Mouth): minor misfortune, obstacles and struggles. She calculated again: Xiao-ji (Small Luck). It meant the outcome of this trip would be favorable.

To secure the supplies in the cold storage, it was worth dealing with some fighting.

Chao Xun smiled and said, “Where are these warehouses located? We’ll leave after we finish eating.”

Seeing her finger-calculating technique and receiving her approval, Jiang Chuan was overjoyed. “Alright!”

Although he didn’t know what kind of skill Sister Xun was using to calculate, he knew that whenever she did this, she could tell whether things would go smoothly. Since she told him to go, it meant there was a high probability of a fruitful harvest.

Zhang Yuan and Jiang Qing, listening from the side, couldn’t help but ask: “Sister Xun, none of us have space-type abilities. Where will we put all those supplies?”

Would they just put it all in the rescue team member’s storage? That felt too insecure—what if the other party ran off with the goods?

Hearing this, Jiang Chuan realized the problem too. “Sister Xun, I don’t know if the ring you gave me can hold everything in the cold storage.”

He possessed a storage ring, gifted to him by Sister Xun. The fact that she gave him something so important showed how much she valued him. Jiang Chuan knew that the moment he awakened his abilities and received the storage ring under her guidance, he had already become fiercely loyal to her.

Chao Xun didn’t take it to heart. “No rush. When the time comes, put as much as you can in the ring, and we’ll figure it out if there isn’t enough space.”

As for storage rings, it seemed she still had quite a few in her spiritual space, all of which she had forged herself. In the Refining Sect, these things were worthless. As the Young Sect Leader, she could forge a bunch of them without any effort. Furthermore, these storage rings of hers were ultimately only under her control. For instance, the one she gave Jiang Chuan: she could reclaim, use, or withdraw items from it at any time.
