After dinner, with no electricity or other forms of entertainment, the long night was somewhat difficult to endure.
Lin Qi thought about the issue of genes at this moment, so he asked Zhao Tuantuan about it.
Involving her own area of expertise, Zhao Tuantuan immediately perked up. She sat up straight and began to explain things to Lin Qi starting from the simplest aspects.
Human genes are very complex, composed of twenty-three pairs of chromosomes. Among them, dominant genes determine the growth of a human's ordinary life, but as recessive genes slowly awaken, they can cause humans to be born with abilities that surpass those of an average person.
Throughout history, those special existences in the past were all people who became outstanding figures after their recessive genes awakened, which allowed them to leave a significant mark in history.
Zhao Tuantuan realized that her own gene awakening was when her body underwent special changes, although she was also quite frightened by such changes at the time.
The two chatted until midnight, but Lin Qi did not hear any theory regarding the Gene Lock from Zhao Tuantuan.
In the memories of this body he currently possessed, there seemed to be no such conjecture.
Long after dawn the next day, Lin Qi finally walked out of the room. After eating breakfast, he took the umbrella handle and the steel rebar and went to the room next door.
Both of these items were stained with the Blood of a Zombie, and leaving them in the room was a potential hazard.
Fortunately, Lin Qi found a clothes rack on the balcony of the room next door. It was made entirely of stainless steel and was 1.8 meters long, which was much handier than the umbrella handle.
With the support of the Advanced Spear Technique, there was no need to worry about whether a spearhead existed.
Finding a suitable kitchen knife, Lin Qi went downstairs, chopped down the Chinese cork oak tree, trimmed the branches, and brought it back upstairs.
Originally, to make a bow, one would have to wait for the wood to air-dry naturally and prevent it from cracking, but Lin Qi could not wait that long now.
Lin Qi spent the entire day refining this tree branch, scraping the trunk smooth and repairing it bit by bit along the grain. Finally, at nightfall, he obtained a crude bow embryo.
"Brother Lin, you know how to make a Bow and Arrow?"
Zhao Tuantuan had been curled up on the Sofa, watching the tree branch change bit by bit in Lin Qi's hands, and finally recognized that it was actually a Longbow.
It was just that this bow was completely different from what she had in mind; the shape was not good, and the upper and lower limbs were not very symmetrical.
"If one can attack from a distance, who would want to fight a Zombie in close quarters? Once the bow is finished, our safety level will be raised by another notch."
Next, he only needed to weave a bowstring and then make a few Arrows to see how much power this bow had.
Before that, Lin Qi did not plan to go out. After all, with no shortage of food, there was no need to go out and take risks. He just needed to wait for the Federation Search Team to arrive here and follow the main force to the quarantine zone.
Beside the moat at the City Outskirts, several SUVs were parked in front of a large bridge. Several soldiers wearing protective suits jumped off the cars and came to the side of the bridge to observe.
"The bridge is full of cars, so we cannot pass. Team One and Team Two, abandon the vehicles and proceed on foot. Team Three, stay at the original position, clear the cars on the bridge, and push them directly off the bridge!"
The leader was in his early forties and looked very serious. After quickly issuing the order, he led the two teams, totaling one hundred people, and quickly passed through the bridge.
"Xiao Zhang, report the information on the urban area."
Just after crossing the bridge, a few scattered Zombies wandered over. The vibration frequency of the large-scale crossing had already attracted the nearby Zombies.
"Captain Gu, this city has been designated as District 32. It belongs to a highly infected area with an area of 82 square kilometers and a permanent population of 500,000. Initially, 150,000 people were transferred to quarantine, and 350,000 people are still in the urban area. According to the infection rate of the Virus Zombie, the number of survivors is roughly 70,000, but after so many days, it is unknown how many can survive."
A 3D projection flashed on Xiao Zhang's arm, presenting the information of District 32, while simultaneously sharing it with others through the tactical channel.
"Use the cross plan to open up the central cross line of the city. Use helicopters to notify the survivors in the urban area to gather at the nearest safe zone and evacuate steadily from the central cross line."
Captain Gu analyzed it briefly and chose a plan. This was also the precious Experience they had gained since the Apocalypse began.
The so-called central cross line meant using the city center as a cross to open up a main road leading to the east, west, north, and south.
Subsequent support teams would quickly set up defensive lines, recruit survivors, and establish temporary positions. Stopping that kind of virus-body zombie could be said to be an easy task.
In addition to scouting the path ahead and locking onto the location of the central cross, their squad's mission also included the rescue of important personnel.
After crossing the bridge, the squad moved forward steadily. When encountering small-scale Zombies, the members could dodge them with their agile speed.
But when they could not dodge, they would raise the specially made silenced Rifles in their hands, and a quick round of point-shooting would clear the obstacles.
Zhao Tuantuan's craftsmanship was quite good. She used the fishing line Lin Qi had found to weave a bowstring of moderate thickness. After fixing it to the bow, it formed a crescent arc.
"Brother Lin, this bow is so ugly!"
The bow body had only been scraped of its bark and slightly repaired. The fresh tree trunk was stained with quite a few stains, making it look blackish, and there were several uneven spots.
"Don't look at how ugly it is; its lethality is huge."
Lin Qi tried to pull it empty-handed, but with his strength, he could not pull it to a full draw.
To test its power, he still needed to make a suitable Arrow.
When he was chopping the tree earlier, he had specifically cut two long branches the thickness of a finger, which were just right for trimming into two Arrows.
"What should I use for the arrowhead?"
To make the Bow and Arrow have lethality, an arrowhead was an essential item. However, this kind of material was generally difficult to find, and without the right tools, it was impossible to make.
Lin Qi was in a bit of a dilemma for a moment, so he had to make the arrow shaft first and then find a way to find something sharp to install on the arrowhead.
After repairing it several times with a dagger, the branch did not reach perfect straightness. Shooting it like this would definitely result in a huge deviation.
For a moment, Lin Qi felt a bit frustrated. As expected, without Experience, the things he made were all trash.
"If only it were like a spear, and I didn't need an arrowhead."
Scraping off the last layer of bark, Lin Qi had a sudden inspiration. He trimmed the arrow shaft a little more and made it into a miniature version of a Spear.
He waved it a few times in his hand and indeed felt the illusory fluctuation at the spearhead.
"This works too?"
His sudden thought had actually come true. In this way, in the future, he only needed to get a straight shaft to make an Arrow!
The ability that came with this Advanced Spear Technique was simply terrifying.
