That was a wrong move.
And now I am being backed up against a wall by a deliciously rose smelling female, ughh.
"Say that again, I dare you," she growled.
Sunny just gave her a crazy smirk. She knew saying this might trigger this particular female because she was one of the characters who were obsessed with him.
"Say what again? That I am Donovan’s girlfriend?" Sunny challenged, her voice dripping with venom as her lips curled into a smirk.
The entire room went silent, and the air seemed heavy with murderous intent, especially when it concerned Donovan, their leader, who was crazy set on him, so for another female to waltz in and say she was with him was wild.
But to their Dismay, Sunny was the right crazy she needed to be.
But instead of pulling the trigger, the pirate female’s eyes twitched. She stared at Sunny’s unbothered expression, searching for a hint of a bluff. Finding none, she slowly lowered the gun, resting the cold steel against her thigh.
"Leave us," she ordered, not taking her eyes off Sunny.
Her men immediately looked at each other, looking extremely sceptical about leaving their boss alone with a stranger who could be crazier than their own boss, possibly more dangerous.
"Boss, are you sure? She just—"
"I said leave!" she snapped, the icy tone returning to her voice.
The men didn’t dare argue a second time. They gripped their weapons and filed out of the room, casting nasty, lingering glares at Sunny as they passed.
How cute....
Sunny gave them a warm, highly irritating smile and a little wave as the last man walked out.
The door clicked shut, and they were finally alone.
[Host has 40 minutes left.]
Time to get down to business.
The pirate lady walked over to her desk, tossing the gun onto the polished wood. She crossed her arms, her red pirate outfit rustling. Sunny took her time looking the woman over, easily identifying her.
Lily Donne. The owner of the auction house.
In the novel, Lily was a ruthless, calculating businesswoman who ran the underground market. She was also hopelessly, obsessively in love with Donovan. Knowing that, Sunny was fully aware that claiming the title of his girlfriend was like walking into a lion’s den wearing a meat suit. But she didn’t have time to play nice.
Her Donovan was indeed hers, and every competition had to know.
"Alright, little girlfriend," Lily sneered, her icy demeanour cracking into pure annoyance. "What do you actually want?"
’Little??’ Sunny chuckled, shaking her head and trying very hard not to get the nickname in her head.
She was not little.
Instead of beating around the bush, Sunny met her glare head-on. "I want The Eyes of the Moon."
Silence stretched across the room. Lily just stared at her, blinking once. Twice.
The look was like, ’You are joking, right?’
Then, a chuckle escaped Lily’s lips. That chuckle rapidly morphed into a full-blown laugh. She threw her head back, the sound mocking and loud, echoing obnoxiously off the walls of the office.
Sunny crossed her arms, narrowed her eyes and was patient enough to wait for her to be done with her laugh.
"The Eyes of the Moon?" Lily wiped a tear from her eye, still giggling. "You came all the way here, used my personal code, and risked getting a bullet between your pretty eyes... for that stupid, ugly pendant?"
Sunny cocked an eyebrow.
Merchandise is merchandise, right? Regardless of its state.
"It’s been sitting in my vault collecting dust. Nobody wants it. It’s useless! And for some reason, you are here to take it from my hand instead of bidding for it during the auction that’s gonna happen in 30 minutes."
Sunny remained silent.
Eventually, Lily realised her audience wasn’t participating. The laughter slowly died in her throat. She shifted her weight, suddenly uncomfortable under Sunny’s intense, deadpan gaze.
Lily cleared her throat. "Oh. You are not joking."
"No, I am not." Sunny reached into the pocket of her black dress. She pulled out her remaining stack of cash and slapped it hard against the desk.
Smack.
Lily’s eyes glinted at the sight of the wad of cash and immediately cleared her throat.
"I will be taking the pendant from you," Sunny stated, her voice leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.
Lily looked at the fat stack of Koria Dollars. Then she looked back at Sunny. She opened her mouth to argue, probably wanting to ask why Donovan Fallon’s supposed woman was paying for junk with crumpled street cash, but something in Sunny’s violet eyes made her reconsider.
With a heavy, irritated sigh, Lily reached into her desk drawer. She rummaged around for a few seconds before pulling out a small, faded wooden box. She didn’t even bother opening it to check the contents. She just handed it over, sliding the cash toward herself.
Sunny grabbed the box immediately.
She opened the box, and her eyes lit up; this was exactly it.
[Congratulations host]
[You have obtained "The Eyes of the Moon."]
[Reward Granted:]
[10,000 Korian Dollars.]
[Donovan’s future of meeting an old woman and handing over this pendant for a book has been intercepted.]
[Once again, congratulations, Host. Please leave the premises before meeting the target.]
Sunny was smiling from ear to ear after seeing the status, and without any further ado, she turned around on her heel, her black dress swishing around her legs, and hurried for the door.
"Hey..."
Sunny could hear someone calling for her, but her excitement couldn’t let her stop to know what it was about.
Wow, that was easy.
Sunny thought as she snickered; it felt like flowers were twirling around her as she opened the door and stepped out.
She looked down at the wooden box in her hands, completely satisfied with herself. Her genius negotiation skills had paid off. She had successfully intercepted the first major piece of his destiny.
Her heart swelled with pride.
But as she lifted her head to walk down the hallway, her breath hitched in her throat.
Her eyes widened, and her heart raced as she looked at the person walking towards her, his eyes on his watch.
Walking straight down the hallway, heading directly for the door she was standing in front of, was a man. He wore a tailored black suit that fit his broad shoulders perfectly. His aura was dark, heavy, and completely suffocating.
Donovan.
She could recognise him anywhere; his description was something no one could mistake and...
He was here. Right now. In the flesh.
Panic exploded in her chest as she looked left and right, shaking in her shoes at what to do.
Fuck me, I can’t let him see me like this?!
