After a night of baptism, the village was once again populated by numerous wandering zombies, though fortunately, they were mostly Tier 1 and Tier 2 zombies.

Without the nighttime stat bonuses, their various attributes dropped significantly.

Even without a crossbow, Song Yu could easily handle them.Full novel: Apocalypse Survival Game? I Became a Big Shot by Picking Up Trash — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

However, Song Yu didn’t want to waste too much time on them; instead, she hurried along her way to yesterday’s camp.

It took Song Yu nearly forty minutes to travel from the village to the camp.

She hadn’t encountered any other players along the road, likely because the area she was in was far too remote.

When she arrived at the camp, Chen Su had not yet arrived.

Since it was early morning, Song Yu discovered plenty of edible wild vegetables in the nearby clearing.

The berry bushes had been completely picked clean by Song Yu yesterday and had not yet grown new ones.

Song Yu pulled a piece of cloth from her backpack and attentively began picking wild vegetables.

The varieties of wild vegetables in the clearing were quite numerous; shepherd’s purse, dandelion, and fat hen were all growing together.

Perhaps she could search the woodlands surrounding the city; there were bound to be abundant natural resources there.

Song Yu, absorbed in picking wild vegetables, hadn’t noticed that she was already being watched.

By the time she realized it, a team of survivors had already appeared within her field of vision.

Three men and two women.

A team containing females tended to appear less aggressive compared to an all-male team.

Song Yu looked with vigilance at the few people who had suddenly appeared, her hand subconsciously moving toward the small knife at her waist.

Compared to Song Yu’s vigilance, the players on the opposite side looked much more relaxed.

“Don’t misunderstand, we mean no harm.”

Seeing Song Yu’s battle-ready appearance, a few of them hurriedly explained.

“You’re here to wait for the NPC who collects blood, right? So are we.”

“Mhm.”

Song Yu didn’t say a single extra word, gave a slight nod, and continued to carefully observe the group.

Seeing Song Yu acting like this, these people only found it amusing.

“What are you doing? Picking wild vegetables—can those even be eaten?”

A rather kind-looking woman took two steps forward, wanting to buddy up with Song Yu, and asked kindly.

“Mhm.”

However, the moment she stepped a few steps closer, Song Yu stepped back a few steps, maintaining a safe distance from them.

Upon hearing that these wild vegetables were edible, the group’s eyes lit up, and they immediately joined in picking them.

This team of players was having a much more miserable time than Song Yu. They weren’t as lucky as her to have such a powerful talent, and they couldn’t scavenge any decent supplies at all.

Coupled with having many people to feed, the fullness and hydration levels of several members hovered near the passing threshold.

Having lived in the city since childhood, the group couldn’t tell apart which wild vegetables were edible and which weren’t, so they could only steal glances at Song Yu.

Song Yu had grown up in the countryside since childhood, giving her an inherent advantage.

Her movements were much more agile than those of the other players, and she quickly harvested a large bagful.

Seeing Song Yu’s bag of wild vegetables, the other players turned green with envy.

However, they had no intention of robbing Song Yu; the game’s cash rewards belonged to individuals rather than being split among everyone, so there was no need for internal competition.

The game’s weather had never been very good; otherwise, Song Yu could have collected more to dry into wild vegetable jerky.

Peace was maintained among the group until the harsh engine roar of a heavy motorcycle broke the silence.

Song Yu immediately stopped what she was doing, slinging her large bag over her arm as she headed to the open area to wait for Chen Su.

Soon, a black heavy-duty motorcycle appeared in everyone’s field of vision. Chen Su, wearing a black windbreaker and a helmet, looked decisive and free-and-easy.

Seeing Song Yu, Chen Su immediately revved the throttle and sped straight toward her!

“Damn! So many zombies!”

The other players, seeing the swarm of zombies trailing far behind Chen Su, couldn’t help panicking and frantically searched for cover.

Song Yu didn’t move; she just stood right where she was.

Chen Su executed a sharp cornering drift, the bike’s body hugging the ground closely as it stopped steadily right in front of Song Yu.

She took off her helmet, pulled a grenade from her waist, bit down on the pin, and without hesitation hurled it straight into the horde of zombies.

The grenade detonated with a deafening crash, instantly blowing the zombie swarm to smithereens.

“So cool!”

Song Yu’s eyes lit up as she enthusiastically applauded and showered her with praise.

This sycophantic display caused the other players over there to take several more glances at Song Yu.

How could this little girl have two completely different faces?

“Morning, Chen Su.”

Song Yu greeted Chen Su very politely, and Chen Su nodded back at Song Yu.

“Morning.”

“See what you want to trade for yourself,” Chen Su said without looking back as she mounted a machine gun onto the motorcycle and aimed it at the scattered zombies.

Song Yu cast an envious look at her gun, then quickly opened the exchange panel and directly traded for 63 arrows.

“I picked a lot of wild vegetables from the camp before you arrived. Sorry, I might have overstepped.”

“Still, if we didn’t pick them now, they’d get too old.”

Song Yu placed the large bundle right beside Chen Su, looking seemingly embarrassed while actually playing a clever angle.

Chen Su glanced over in her spare time, let out an acknowledgment, and said nothing more.

“Come over for lunch at noon,” Chen Su said indifferently.

“Okay! I’ll definitely be back by then.”

Song Yu accepted with a beaming smile, then hopped on her bicycle and bade farewell to Chen Su.

Flattering NPCs really worked!

Chen Su’s meals were quite lavish; trading a handful of wild vegetables for a lavish, nutritionally complete lunch was an absolute steal.

Next, Song Yu planned to search the surrounding area, kill some zombies, stockpile a bit more mutated blood, and then head to the old district to make her deliveries.

During the day, the zombies’ health pools dropped considerably. For Tier 1 zombies, Song Yu basically needed just one arrow followed by a quick finishing blow to eliminate one.

However, she didn’t want to be wasteful; arrows had become a consumable item and had to be conserved. At the very least, she needed to run into Tier 2 zombies to make using them worthwhile.

Without the nighttime buff, the drop rate for mutated blood from zombies left a bit to be desired.

Song Yu’s current location was on the edge of the city, featuring vast expanses of construction sites.

A construction site, huh.

There might be a lot of weapons there!

Song Yu’s current weapon attack power was still somewhat lacking, and her small knife and dagger required getting way too close.

When she was killing zombies earlier, face-to-face contact had almost made her vomit from the stench emanating from their bodies.

The moment she stepped into an uncompleted construction site, Song Yu sensed an unusual aura.

It was dangerous.

Just as she wanted to leave, her retreat was blocked off.

A zombie dog, its body exuding the foul stench of rotting meat, its fur tattered and disheveled with bare bones exposed, and its eyes filled with a ferocious glare, blocked her path.

And it wasn’t just one zombie dog.

One in front and one behind—Song Yu had nowhere to run.

Ever since entering the game, Song Yu was finally facing her greatest crisis!

[Tier 2 Zombie Dog, HP: 23, Attack: 32…]

This was the first time Song Yu had encountered a zombie monster with such low health but such high attack power!

With just a single bite, she was done for!

Yet with a single arrow, the zombie dog would be done for too!

One against two—Song Yu was in grave danger.
