Yuna Bishop quickly packed the bedding on the ground into her Backpack Grids, making no sound in the process.
Then again, even if she had made a sound, the players outside probably wouldn’t have noticed.
They were already making a racket, despite their best efforts to be stealthy.
The rustling sounds were especially conspicuous in the spacious sewer.
Yuna Bishop and Noir, hidden in the darkness, overheard their conversation clearly.
“Seriously?
The people from the old city are planning to rob the NPCs?”
“Of course it’s true.
It’s planned for three days from now.”
“Just think about the lives we’ve been living since this game started.
We can’t get enough to eat, and we can’t sleep properly.”
“There are a hundred thousand players, but how many resources does the city have?
The NPCs have basically all of it.”
“We’re chased by zombies every single day.
What kind of shitty life is this?!”
“And what about those NPCs?
They’re living it up every day, yet they still have the gall to set their trade prices so damn high!”
“If you ask me, we might as well go for a big score!”
The man’s voice was vicious.
Yuna Bishop couldn’t see his face, but she could tell from his unsteady footsteps.
‘His Combat Power isn’t anything to write home about.’
“But how did a rumor like this get out for us to hear?”
“Do you really think this is some kind of lucky break?”
The player who spoke first scoffed, glancing at his companion with disdain.
“Isn’t it?”
“Those NPCs have guns.
That alone is enough to get us all killed, with no place for a proper burial.”
“Of course the players who planned this want as many people to join in as possible.”
“The more chaotic it gets, the better their chances are to profit from the confusion.”
‘Still, all the players probably have the same idea.’
Yuna Bishop stroked her chin thoughtfully.
‘In that case, I don’t need to be in such a rush.
Waiting three days, until the 10th day of the game, should be about right.’
Yuna Bishop had originally planned to take out this group of players.
Visibility in the sewer was extremely low; ambushing them in the dark, she could kill at least one or two.
But after hearing their conversation, she was starting to reconsider.
‘Instead of targeting these seven or eight players, why not take advantage of the chaos when they group up to rob the NPCs…’
Of course, if an opportunity to strike presented itself, Yuna Bishop wouldn’t let it slip by.
She held her Nail Gun, body pressed against the wall, and held her breath.
Beside her, Noir’s breathing also slowed to a crawl.
The group of players was drawing nearer.
If Yuna Bishop were to strike now, it would be difficult to escape unscathed.
‘I could definitely kill one or two, but it would be easy for the other players to pick up the scraps.’
‘I wouldn’t be able to take the loot and the corpses.’
‘I’ll wait. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.
Even if I’m going to make a move, I need to find the perfect moment.’
The group of players completely failed to notice Yuna Bishop and Noir in the darkness.
They not only barged into the shelter the two had chosen, but even prepared to start a fire and rest.
‘Who could possibly tolerate this?!’
‘I was even prepared to let them go!’
The space where she and Noir slept at night connected two sewer tunnels, with alcoves carved into the walls on either side.
The alcoves were quite large, more than enough to accommodate Yuna Bishop and Noir.
The two of them stood inside an alcove, silently watching the group of players prepare to light a fire.
‘Honestly, they can’t even spot me and Noir at this distance, yet they think they can profit from the chaos of a big fight?’
‘They’d be lucky not to get stabbed in the back.’
Noir looked up at Yuna Bishop, who nodded in response.
She raised her hand, aimed her Crossbow at the chattering players, and loosed a bolt!
‘Always pick the softest target.’ Yuna Bishop couldn’t handle a High Tier Zombie, and she couldn’t take on the NPCs, but couldn’t she handle this group of players?
With the bulletproof vest from The Watcher Organization, as long as those players didn’t have guns, Yuna Bishop had nothing to fear.
The players were clustered together, and the bolt from her Crossbow luckily struck one of them!
“ARGH—!!!”
A bloodcurdling scream rang out through the sewer, echoing again and again!
“Are you crazy?!”
That much noise will definitely attract zombies!
Another player immediately lunged forward to clamp a hand over his mouth, but the action instantly made the others realize something was wrong.
As the scent of blood filled the air, Yuna Bishop fired a second bolt!
“Someone’s here!”
The successive bolts finally alerted them to Yuna Bishop’s presence, but in the pitch-dark environment, they couldn’t find her location.
After firing a few more bolts by sound and feel, Yuna Bishop shook out her hand.
‘I really need to get some Night Vision goggles.’
‘But those kinds of tools are really expensive at Sue Carter’s place.
They start at Tier 3 or Tier 4 Mutated Blood.’
Relying on its keen sense of smell and agile movements, Noir weaved through the players, inflicting considerable Damage.
The players wanted to fight back, but they couldn’t find any trace of Yuna Bishop or Noir!
Yuna Bishop knew to quit while she was ahead.
When Noir returned to her side, she knew it had killed a player.
She immediately prepared to leave with Noir, but as it turned out, the other players had the same idea.
“Let’s go!!”
The two groups collided.
On her side, it was just Yuna Bishop.
She knew everyone else was an enemy, so she decisively drew her knife and slit a player’s throat.
As for the other players’ attacks, the 15-point Defense Value of her bulletproof vest was enough to block most of the Damage!
Even so, her Blood Volume was dropping rapidly.
Yuna Bishop quickly stored the corpse in her inventory space and fled the scene with Noir!
Unlike this group of players, she had a flashlight.
Honestly, it just went to show how scarce resources were in Salix.
A group of seven or eight players, and not a single flashlight, candle, or match among them.
If Yuna Bishop hadn’t gotten lucky and killed a few other players, she wouldn’t have one either.
Two adult men.
Yuna Bishop did a rough calculation.
‘Their combined weight must be a few hundred pounds.’
‘I’ll turn these corpses over to Sylas, pick up the animal quest, wait for the players to start their raid, and then head to The Harbor.’
‘Perfect.’
The footsteps of a woman and her dog echoed through the spacious sewer.
The two of them were gone, but the chaos in the clearing was far from over.
The players had no idea Yuna Bishop was alone.
Each one subconsciously tried to protect themselves, turning their weapons on their own companions.
Curses, screams, and sobs mingled with the smell of blood and panic.
By the time the chaos subsided, they realized the player who had caused it all had long since vanished.
They had been fighting shadows, scaring themselves!
But by then, they were already surrounded by zombies drawn by the noise and the scent of blood.
For a High Tier Zombie, climbing stairs was no problem at all.
In the darkness, the zombies’ eyes glowed with an eerie red light, making them terrifyingly conspicuous.
For the player who had been boasting just moments before, the sensation of something cold and sharp on his neck came too late.
“AHHHH—!!!”
