For as many days as the torrential rain had fallen, Yuna Bishop had remained in the high-rise.
She and Noir had basically been confined to this one area.
On the morning of the 17th day of the game, the torrential rain that had poured for five straight days finally stopped.
Yuna Bishop and Noir could finally venture out to explore.
She planned to find Sylas first to empty out her Backpack Grids, then track down Sue Carter to trade in all her Mutated Blood.
After all, Yuna Bishop’s backpack now held 782 vials of Tier 1 Mutated Blood, 213 vials of Tier 2 Mutated Blood, 37 vials of Tier 3 Mutated Blood, and 9 vials of Tier 4 Mutated Blood.
By taking advantage of the terrain, Yuna Bishop had killed four Tier 4 Zombies—all during the day—earning 12,000 RMB and triggering her Talent multiple times.
Noir’s “Three-Handed” Talent experience had also accumulated to 5 points.
There might even be a chance to upgrade it to Level 2 before leaving this instance.
Once she traded in all the Mutated Blood, her final stop would be The Harbor District.
Yuna Bishop had it all planned out.
The previous robbery attempt orchestrated by the players had led to the deaths of many in Salix; it was estimated that not even one in ten of them remained.
During the five-day downpour, Yuna Bishop had collected enough clean water to restore 53,000 hydration points, as well as enough dirty water for 70,000 hydration points.
Most of it was stored in Noir’s spatial inventory.
However, their food supply was also running low, with only ten standard nutrient meals left.
“After raining for so long, there should be mushrooms, right?”
Yuna Bishop gazed at the sky, which had finally cleared, though a faint chill still lingered in the air.
The thought of the fresh, tender taste of wild mushrooms made Yuna Bishop’s mouth water.
And bamboo shoots!
If she remembered correctly, there was a large bamboo forest behind the village she’d stayed in before!
At the thought, Yuna Bishop picked up her pace considerably.
The five straight days of torrential rain had also had a significant impact on the zombies.
Many of them were now afflicted with negative buffs.
Things like [Rot], [Osteoporosis], [Olfactory Failure]…
A truly bizarre assortment.
Since Yuna Bishop and Noir had ample resources, they hadn’t suffered any health problems.
Even if they had, the medical supplies Yuna Bishop carried were more than enough to handle them.
The zombies on the streets were so rotten that Yuna Bishop could easily wipe them out.
‘I should be able to find Sylas before dark,’ Yuna Bishop thought.
Along the way, Yuna Bishop ran into members of the Aegis and Watcher organizations, which the vast majority of the city’s NPCs had joined.
The only ones who hadn’t were powerful, lone-wolf NPC Merchants.
But cold as they were, they at least weren’t malicious.
Seeing her with a dog, they were still willing to answer her questions.
Yuna Bishop and Noir successfully got Sylas’s current location from them.
In Salix’s old library.
It was a bit far from her current position.
Sue Carter’s new area of operations, on the other hand, wasn’t far.
The woman and her dog sprinting down the street at full speed created a unique sight.
In less than two hours, Yuna Bishop and Noir found Sue Carter.
Sue Carter was surrounded by players.
A quick glance was all it took for Yuna Bishop to see that they were all suffering from multiple negative statuses.
The signs of illness were obvious.
They looked like they wouldn’t last another two days.
Yuna Bishop calmly stepped past these players and found Sue Carter.
Sue Carter’s attitude toward Yuna Bishop was also lukewarm, completely devoid of her previous friendliness.
‘It wasn’t as if they were ever very close, though.’
Yuna Bishop perused Sue Carter’s goods, deliberated for a moment, and then quickly traded in all the Mutated Blood she had.
She traded for a 50L container of gasoline for a sedan, valued at one vial of Tier 4 Blood.
Yuna Bishop didn’t trade for the car keys; with her Locksmith Talent, it would just take a few tries to get it open.
With the rest of her Mutated Blood, Yuna Bishop traded for 60 cans of assorted canned meat, 60 cans of assorted canned fruit, and 60 cans of assorted canned vegetables.
After the great disaster, the prices of Sue Carter’s goods had increased by at least tenfold.
A compressed biscuit that was originally worth 10 vials of Tier 1 Blood now cost 1 vial of Tier 2 Blood.
All other goods had seen similar price hikes and were now limited in quantity.
The 240 cans cost Yuna Bishop a total of 5 vials of Tier 4 Blood, and that was the maximum quantity she and Noir were allowed to purchase.
Yuna Bishop also traded for 60 standard nutrient meals.
In addition, she purchased a bag of flour, two packets of yeast, a common seasoning kit, and miscellaneous items like rain boots, a raincoat, an umbrella, and a lighter.
Yuna Bishop had spent every last vial of her Mutated Blood.
‘A shame I can’t afford more Backpack Grids,’ she thought.
“Please, have a heart…
spare some…”
Just as Yuna Bishop and Noir were about to leave, someone grabbed her pant leg.
The person was clearly on their last breath.
“Spare some medical supplies.”
Yuna Bishop had assumed the person was going to beg for food; she hadn’t expected a request for medical supplies. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
‘Though, it made sense,’ she mused.
‘They probably needed medical supplies even more than they needed food.’
In a city fresh from the rains, there wasn’t necessarily a shortage of food and water—if one dared to look for it.
Yuna Bishop wasn’t feeling that charitable.
She didn’t have many medical supplies on her, and most were just bandages for restoring Blood Volume.
She easily shook the player’s hand off her leg, scanned her surroundings, and left without taking any further action.
These players looked like they were on death’s door, but they shouldn’t be underestimated.
They could definitely take down Yuna Bishop and Noir.
With so many of them, even if Yuna Bishop used a gun, she wouldn’t be able to kill them all at once.
They were the living embodiment of the saying: never corner a desperate foe.
They were probably not as weak as they appeared.
After leaving Sue Carter, Yuna Bishop found an empty lot and began to pick the sedan’s lock.
It only took a couple of tries before Yuna Bishop had the freshly-fueled sedan started.
Yuna Bishop didn’t have a driver’s license, but in a world without traffic cops, who was going to care that she was driving without one?
The sedan lurched and sputtered onto the road, and Yuna Bishop followed her map toward the library.
‘Having a car makes things so much more convenient,’ she thought.
She figured she would even have time to head into the mountains and dig for some bamboo shoots before dark.
A light drizzle began to patter against the windows as Yuna Bishop focused intently on the road ahead.
The value of Mutated Blood at Sue Carter’s had plummeted.
‘There’s no point in hunting zombies anymore.’
The rewards no longer justified the costs.
Yuna Bishop had used up more than half of her nails and arrows collecting all that Mutated Blood, and she didn’t have many left.
And in the end, this was all she had to show for it.
There were occasional signs of NPCs and players on the streets.
As Yuna Bishop drove past an unfinished building, she suddenly noticed several figures on it.
Judging by their ragged clothes, they were probably players.
‘So many players gathered in one place.
Are they trying to start something again?’
However, a nearby sign quickly dispelled her suspicions.
