Yuna Bishop ignored the remaining fire extinguishers and immediately started running for her life with Noir.
‘If we don’t run now, it’ll be too late!’
The zombies swarmed in, a dense, disgusting mass, like maggots squirming together in rotten food.
The smart players grabbed what they could and ran, while the greedy ones were still inside the clinic, fighting over the scraps.
Yuna Bishop and Noir escaped through the underground parking garage, where there were definitely fewer zombies than above.
But the downside was that the garage was a dark, enclosed space.
With the arrival of the High Tier Zombie, a few scattered zombies had appeared here as well.
“Scattered” was only in comparison to the surface.
Pairs of crimson eyes dotted the entire parking garage…
Every so often, a few zombies would leap out of the darkness and lunge at Yuna Bishop.
The sound of footsteps was chaotic and indistinct; even Noir couldn’t pinpoint their locations.
Worst of all, there was a Tier 4 Zombie in the garage.
It clung to the ceiling, its Speed immense.
Yuna Bishop couldn’t lock onto its position at all!
One second, her flashlight found it; the next, it vanished from her sight.
All the fur on Noir’s body stood on end, and Yuna Bishop’s heart was pounding terrifyingly fast.
This was the first time Yuna Bishop had ever faced such a dire situation.
Holding a pistol in one hand and a flashlight in the other, she was on maximum alert.
It wasn’t that Yuna Bishop was reluctant to use a rifle; she simply couldn’t right now.
This time, the players’ actions had thoroughly agitated every zombie in Salix.
They had all awakened and were now roaming everywhere, searching for food.
Even if Yuna Bishop hadn’t been at the clinic, she would have been hunted down by zombies regardless.
On top of that, all zombie Attributes had been boosted by 10%, making the situation for players incredibly unfavorable.
Gunshots echoed continuously through the garage.
Seeing the endless stream of zombies, Yuna Bishop decisively threw out a large slab of fresh human flesh from her Backpack Grids!
The blood-soaked fresh meat immediately drew the attention of a large number of zombies.
All the zombies hiding in the darkness rushed out.
Their twisted, grotesque forms made Yuna Bishop’s eye twitch.
Fortunately, the zombies were all distracted by the chunk of meat.
Without hesitation, Yuna Bishop threw a grenade.
The grenade exploded with a BOOM, splattering Yuna Bishop and Noir with the foul-smelling, shredded flesh of zombies.
The ground was covered in Mutated Blood.
Luckily, they only suffered superficial wounds.
Gritting her teeth, Yuna Bishop shone her flashlight over.
The Tier 4 Zombie had also been caught in the blast and was lying on the ground, panting heavily.
She quickly took two medical bandages from her Backpack Grids.
Ignoring the waste, she and Noir each used a roll.
His Blood Volume just restored, Noir immediately wanted to charge over and kill the Tier 4 Zombie.
Before it could move, however, Yuna Bishop forcefully dragged it away.
‘This is not the time to be greedy.’
‘There will be other chances to kill Tier 4 zombies.
No need to be greedy now!’
After a thrilling escape from the underground parking garage, Yuna Bishop and Noir finally reached the surface.
However, the situation on the surface was hardly any better.
The streets were swarming with zombies.
They were feasting on their delicious meals.
Perhaps because they already had food, or perhaps because Yuna Bishop and Noir were covered in zombie flesh and blood, most of the zombies paid them little attention.
Only a few Low Tier Zombies shrieked and lunged at them.
Even with their increased Blood Volume, Yuna Bishop found them quite easy to kill.
She and Noir easily escaped to a tall building far from the center of the conflict, making their way smoothly to the rooftop.
The sky glowed with fire.
The entire city had become a blazing inferno.
Countless zombies roamed through it, while High Tier Zombies indiscriminately destroyed everything in their path.
Looking closely, one could also see traces of many NPCs.
They were fighting hard to kill zombies and extinguish the city’s great fire.
When the instance ends, the players will leave, but the instance itself doesn’t stop running.
They still have to survive in this world.
Yuna Bishop stood on the high-rise, looking down on it all, and let out a long breath.
‘We finally made it out.’
‘But after this, the city’s resources will probably become even scarcer.’
Thinking of the pitifully small amount of food and water in her backpack, Yuna Bishop felt a headache coming on.
Thankfully, she still had half a bag of flour, which could just barely make a few dozen steamed buns.
The buns restored 20 satiety points each, so they should last for a while.
Yuna Bishop and Noir hid on the rooftop until dawn.
The city’s fires still hadn’t gone out; in fact, they seemed to be growing even more intense.
At the crack of dawn, Yuna Bishop saw no sunlight. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
The sky was still covered by a thick layer of dark clouds.
Yuna Bishop looked up at the sky.
‘Is it going to…’
“DRIP—”
A drop of water landed on Yuna Bishop’s face.
As expected, it was starting to rain.
Yuna Bishop immediately took out all sorts of containers from her inventory to collect the rainwater!
‘I’ve been in the game for so long, and I can finally take a shower and wash my hair!’
Glass jars, plastic bottles, buckets—all kinds of containers were laid out, nearly covering half the rooftop.
Still not satisfied, Yuna Bishop took Noir downstairs to search for more containers that could hold water.
She only stopped when the containers covered the entire rooftop.
‘How could I possibly pass up such a great opportunity to hoard water?’
But…
Yuna Bishop frowned and picked up a glass bottle filled with rainwater.
[Wastewater: +20 Hydration.
Consumption will cause symptoms such as diarrhea and fever.]
Yuna Bishop thought for a moment, then took out a few things from her Backpack Grids.
Gauze, charcoal, plant ash, a barbecue grill, as well as matches and firewood.
She then had Noir gather some small stones and grass, and added the fine sand she had scavenged from an apartment’s fish tank.
‘If I purify this wastewater, I should be able to drink it, right?’
Yuna Bishop also planned to shower and wash her hair.
With her limited resources, she could only use plant ash to clean the grease from her body.
‘Good thing there’s enough of this stuff.’
Filtering the wastewater, boiling it…
Yuna Bishop was busy until nightfall.
The timely rain fell harder and harder, showing no signs of stopping.
However, the filtered and boiled wastewater now met drinking standards, completely eliminating the risk of diarrhea and other issues.
Wastewater that was only boiled still posed some danger, but it was fine for washing her hair and body.
Soaking wet, Yuna Bishop and Noir sat by the fire to warm themselves.
The toasty glow of the flames walled off most of the cold.
‘This rain,’ Yuna Bishop thought, ‘is making me realize just how many things I’m still missing.’
Raincoats, umbrellas, rain boots, thick blankets, warm clothes…
a boat would be even better.
With enough water, Yuna Bishop started making steamed buns right away.
She didn’t have any yeast, but the flour could still ferment on its own.
For Yuna Bishop and Noir, buns made from just flour and water were good enough as long as they were edible.
The rain fell for five whole days.
But don’t assume this was a good thing.
While it brought plenty of water, it also brought many drawbacks.
Such as hunger and disease.
