“There is someone in my heart—a white moonlight hidden within, a cinnabar mole placed upon it. If she would only glance my way, I would willingly break all my pride and bow before her.”

The rainstorm arrived without warning, purple lightning tearing through the heavy dusk, bringing a brief flash of light.

Second-floor master bedroom.

Soft carpet littered with scattered clothes, the room filled with an alluring atmosphere.

In the quiet space, heavy panting and seductive, soul-entwining moans were amplified countless times in that moment.

Another flash of lightning illuminated the two figures on the bed, locked in a desperate embrace.

On the red sheets, chestnut-colored hair lay disheveled. The girl’s fair skin was flushed with a layer of pink, her long eyelashes glistening with moisture, trembling slightly.

Her thoroughly ravaged red lips parted slightly, releasing faint, tantalizing murmurs.

Her swan-like neck arched slightly, revealing the mottled, ambiguous red marks upon it.

Her hands clutched the sheets tightly, the smooth bedding crumpled into chaotic folds. The red accentuated her skin, making it appear even fairer, her jade-like arms dotted with red marks.

A sudden wet sensation on her chest sent shivers down her spine. Shame and a faint thrill made her whimper softly, “Mmm…”

Before she could finish, the man pinched her chin and kissed her forcefully.

“Xie… Xie Yubai, gentler… please…”

The man above chuckled softly, taking her snow-white earlobe into his mouth and licking it lightly. His captivating fox-like eyes shimmered with ambiguous tenderness as his gravelly voice whispered, “Baby, I want to, but it won’t listen to me.”

Shen Suian glared at him angrily.

But she truly had no strength left. Tears welled in the corners of her eyes, the edges tinged red—less a glare and more like a coquettish pout.

Xie Yubai’s eyes darkened, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly as desire surged within him.

“Baby, do you want me to die on this bed?”

“You—”

Before she could finish, her vision blurred, the ceiling swaying before her eyes.

“Baby, relax a little, hmm?”

He drew out the last syllable, his words laced with warmth and tenderness, like the most intoxicating wine in the world.

Shen Suian’s mind drifted slightly, her slender waist sinking into the man’s palm as she fell into his embrace.

“Good girl, let’s change positions.”

Shen Suian: “…”

If she had known it would be like this, she would never have let this scoundrel trick her into going to the civil affairs bureau.

In the end, mindful that it was her first time, Xie Yubai didn’t dare to be too reckless.

Afterward, he carried her to bathe.

Shen Suian didn’t know how she fell into a hazy sleep.

Then, she seemed to have a dream.

Because she saw another version of herself.

In the dream, Shen Suian’s life trajectory, personality, and way of handling things were exactly the same as hers.

She watched as Xie Yubai coaxed Shen Suian into getting their marriage certificate. That calm and composed man, after she fell asleep, gazed at their marriage license and grinned foolishly.

Shen Suian couldn’t help but laugh.

How could he be so silly?

Then again, the usual Xie Yubai was anything but calm and composed.

She had wondered why Xie Yubai seemed off today—turns out he was just overjoyed.

But what happened next froze the smile on her face.

After marriage, Shen Suian and Xie Yubai’s lives didn’t differ much from before. Aside from work and studies, the two of them spent their days sticking together.

Until a sudden car accident occurred.

Shen Suian floated in mid-air, watching helplessly as the version of herself from her dream walked along the road, only to be struck by an out-of-control truck.

She heard shattering, screams, roaring… and a heart-wrenching cry: “Suisui!”

She saw the chaotic scene, the panicked people around, the blood staining the world, and a figure frantically rushing toward the scene…

It was Xie Yubai!

The scene shifted, and Shen Suian saw that tall, slender figure amidst a vast sea of irises.

He looked much more haggard, unshaven, with heavy dark circles under his eyes. His once straight posture was now hunched over, appearing utterly disheveled.

His once bright eyes now seemed dull and lifeless, his back exuding profound loneliness.

Shen Suian opened her mouth, but before she could speak, she sensed something and shifted her gaze slightly, spotting the tombstone.

—Tomb of Beloved Wife Shen Suian

Shen Suian’s eyes widened.

She… was dead?

“Suisui,” the man forced a bitter smile, his lips trembling slightly. He knelt down, his slender fingers gently tracing the characters on the tombstone, his voice choked with sorrow. “I… miss you…”

These words seemed to open a floodgate. He fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face like a fragile child.

“Liar… liar…”

“You promised… you’d stay with me for a lifetime…”

“It hasn’t even been that long, and you’ve already left me…”

“Why did you leave me…”

“…Was it something I did wrong?”

“Come back… come back and tell me, please?”

“I can change… I really can…”

His words were fragmented, his voice choked with sobs, barely forming coherent sentences.

Shen Suian’s heart ached at the sight.

She wanted to hold him, to comfort him: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”

But she couldn’t. It seemed she was nothing more than a ghost now.

Utterly powerless.

Even so, she knelt down, reaching out to wipe away his tears, her voice soft and gentle. “Why are you crying again? Didn’t we promise when we were little that we wouldn’t cry anymore? How could you break that promise?”

The man’s body stiffened for a moment, and he absentmindedly touched the corner of his eye.

Tired. If you like it, keep reading. If not, feel free to leave.

Different flowers appeal to different eyes. No one is forcing you to read, so don’t make unnecessary comments here. It’s annoying òó.

I’ve included some warnings in the book reviews, synopsis, and author’s notes, but I thought I’d mention them here again:

Suisui and Xiao Bai are childhood sweethearts who have known each other since they were young. They hold significant places in each other’s hearts and won’t drift apart because of a dream or something that might happen in the future.

Xiao Bai has always loved only Suisui.

Perhaps due to emotional purity or lack of harsh experiences, the male leads I write all uphold moral integrity, remain physically and emotionally pure, and are devoted and deeply affectionate. As long as the female lead is present, his attention will be entirely on her—what some might call “love-struck.”

Suisui is not weak. Even without Xiao Bai, she can still stand strong on her own. She is also very intelligent.

Not asking or speaking doesn’t mean she doesn’t know what’s in her heart.

The System and supporting characters might have a bit more screen time in the early stages, and it’s hard to change that now without messing things up.

The female lead’s abilities and personality will be explained in detail later on.

Reunite in Chapter 35.

Enjoy the reading.
