“Alright, alright. I’ll buy you some milk tea later, so cheer up for now.”

“No. I don’t want any.” Zou Mingming’s mind was still filled with the unforgettable, suffocating stench from earlier.

“Really? You can add as many toppings as you want. Tapioca pearls, mochi, taro paste, pearls, pudding and plenty more.”Full novel: Apocalypse: The Transmigrated Cannon-Fodder Female Lead Wins by Clinging to the Big Boss — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Th-then… alright!”

An hour later, the two finally found their target at a pharmacy.

Yu Bai.

There were very few items left on the shelves inside the pharmacy. Another row of shelves had collapsed to the side, while medicine boxes and pills of various sizes were scattered all over the floor.

Yu Bai was lying beside the fallen shelf with a high fever. His lips had turned bluish-purple, and he occasionally let out hoarse, rasping sounds. Several raised patterns faintly appeared across his skin like a spiderweb, while his gray fingernails were slowly growing longer.

“He’s about to turn into a zombie!” Zou Mingming exclaimed in shock.

Liu Wanwan patted Zou Mingming on the shoulder.

“Mingming, do you want to be a hero?”

“W-what?”

“Use your supernatural ability to save him.”

“But I…”

“Mingming, you have to believe in yourself. You can do it.”

After all, you were the one who saved him in the book too.

After saying that, Liu Wanwan walked out of the pharmacy and closed the door. She raised her hand, and a transparent barrier sealed off the entrance.

Then a familiar large knife appeared in her hand.

She turned around and vigilantly watched her surroundings.

Inside the pharmacy, Zou Mingming struggled with his decision for a while before finally deciding to give it a try.

A soft white light appeared in Zou Mingming’s palm.

He directed the light toward the forehead of the mutated Yu Bai. As the healing-type energy entered Yu Bai’s body, the speed of his zombification gradually slowed down.

Time passed little by little.

Just as Yu Bai’s zombified body was almost returning to normal, Zou Mingming increased the output of his healing-type energy.

Suddenly, a roar came from Yu Bai’s mouth.

The zombification began again.

Black and purple patterns wriggled across his skin like maggots. His fingernails suddenly lengthened, and his limbs began thrashing violently.

Afraid that the zombified Yu Bai would scratch him, Zou Mingming found a hemp rope in his backpack. He tied Yu Bai’s hands to the leg of a nearby table, held down his legs and continued channeling his energy.

Outside the pharmacy, Liu Wanwan maintained the protective barrier to prevent the healing energy from leaking out while also dealing with the zombies that were attracted by the scent.

As expected, Zou Mingming really was the first one to find Yu Bai.

It truly was fate.

Liu Wanwan sighed. After reluctantly dealing with the last zombie in the group, she leaned against the doorframe to rest.

After an unknown amount of time, the tightly closed pharmacy door finally opened.

Zou Mingming emerged with a deathly pale face. His entire body looked completely exhausted as he bent over.

“Sis, I did it.”

After saying that, Zou Mingming collapsed.

When he woke up again, it was because he was starving.

The delicious aroma of braised beef filled his nose. He swallowed instinctively as a cup of instant noodles with red packaging appeared in his line of sight.

“You’re awake. Eat.”

Zou Mingming took the cup of noodles and immediately slurped it down in huge mouthfuls.

He quickly finished the entire cup.

Because he had eaten too quickly, his stomach had not even had time to react. Moreover, after becoming a supernatural ability user, his appetite had increased tremendously.

Just as Zou Mingming was about to ask if there was any more, another cup of instant noodles with purple packaging was handed to him.

This time, he began savoring it slowly.

One sip of soup, one bite of noodles.

It was absolutely delicious.

“By the way, how is he doing?” Zou Mingming asked after drinking the last mouthful of soup.

“He’s still unconscious.”

As she spoke, Liu Wanwan placed the milk tea she had prepared along with various toppings on the table.

“Here. This is the milk tea I promised you. Drink it first. I left some food on the table too. Most of the zombies on this floor have already been cleared, so it’s temporarily safe. I’m going out to look around.”

Liu Wanwan walked through the filthy, chaotic corridors while sipping her milk tea. Whenever she came across a shop that interested her, she would go inside and loot it.

When she saw that her milk tea was almost finished, Liu Wanwan took the last sip and casually stored the empty cup in her space.

As she passed a sleepwear shop, she saw a somewhat familiar figure.

“Hey, Fatty! Hello!”

Wang Panpan had several dresses of different colors hanging from his left arm. At that moment, he was solemnly and seriously choosing unopened bras.

A voice suddenly rang out and startled Wang Panpan so badly that his entire body jolted. The dresses and bras fell to the floor.

“you… hello!”

“What are you doing…?” Liu Wanwan leaned against the cashier counter, drawing out her words in surprise.

“Ah, oh, oh.”

Wang Panpan hurriedly bent down and picked up the clothes, holding them against his chest awkwardly.

“These are all for my friends.”

After saying that, Wang Panpan suddenly remembered something.

“Sorry, my friends must be getting anxious. I’ll be going first. Goodbye.”

He quickly ran out of the sleepwear shop.

Only after Wang Panpan’s figure disappeared from sight did Liu Wanwan wave her hand and store all the unopened sleepwear and bras into her space.

After leaving the sleepwear shop, Liu Wanwan realized she had been away for quite a while and decided to head back.

As soon as she returned to the pharmacy, she heard Zou Mingming’s cheerful voice.

“Wanwan, you’re back!”

Liu Wanwan hummed in response.

Her gaze shifted from Zou Mingming to Yu Bai beside him.

Yu Bai seemed to notice Liu Wanwan’s gaze as well. His pale, slender fingers lightly pushed up the frame of his glasses before he spoke in a calm voice.

“Hello. My name is Yu Bai. Thank you for saving me, both you and Mingming.”

“You’re welcome. My name is Liu Wanwan.”

“Seeing how happily you’re chatting, it looks like surviving a disaster really does bring good fortune afterward.”

“That’s right! Wanwan, let me tell you. After Yu Bai went through the brink of death, he actually awakened a supernatural ability.”

Zou Mingming spoke excitedly as though he were the one who had awakened the ability.

Compared with Zou Mingming, Yu Bai was much calmer.

“Yes. Mingming said it is a wind-type supernatural ability.”

“Congratulations.”

“By the way, Miss Liu, what are your plans from here?”

“About that… I haven’t decided yet. But we can’t stay here forever. What about you?”

“I still have two teammates waiting for me. We were separated earlier because of a special circumstance.”

“Alright, then let’s do this. We’ll leave in an hour. In the meantime, you can familiarize yourself with your ability. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask Mingming.”

After Liu Wanwan finished speaking, she tilted her head and gave Zou Mingming a meaningful wink before turning around and leaving.

Zou Mingming was left standing there in complete confusion.

What did Wanwan mean by that wink just now?

Could it be…

“Mingming!”

Zou Mingming was still frowning and thinking when a gentle and pleasant voice interrupted him.

“Ah, what’s wrong?”

Zou Mingming raised his head blankly.

“I just wanted to ask you…”

“Oh, so that’s what you mean! Let me tell you…”

Zou Mingming wanted to put an arm around Yu Bai’s shoulder like two close brothers, but he was not tall enough. In the end, he could only grab Yu Bai’s arm and walk alongside him while explaining everything.

His entire body radiated pride and excitement.

As for Liu Wanwan’s wink earlier, Zou Mingming had already completely forgotten about it.

Wanwan probably just had an eye twitch!
