Ye Qingning took a ship and returned to Miracle Beach.

She had no idea what Svastika Country was busy with. The enemy had retreated for a week, yet they still hadn’t advanced.

Seeing that the armies of Romance Country and Mist Country had withdrawn, she simply picked up everything left on the beach—cannons, anti-aircraft guns, anti-tank guns, cars, motorcycles, tanks, rifles, and hundreds of thousands of tons of military supplies.Full novel: Apocalypse Time-Travel to the 1940s: Building the World’s Strongest Superpower — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Why not take it if it was free?

She only took the good stuff. The broken junk she left behind as “fare” for the Svastika Country army, since she had hitched rides from them.

She just couldn’t stand waste. Thriftiness was a virtue.

As for why things disappeared, how would a little child like her know? Maybe they had been swept away by the waves.

“These people are nothing but bandits. They deserve to be wiped out.”

“I heard many of them deposited their money in Candy Bank. Who do you think will benefit from that money?”

“When people die, everything becomes meaningless. It’ll probably all end up benefiting Candy Country.”

“Without losing a single soldier, they can reap enormous wealth. Truly enviable.”

“We risk our lives and only get scraps.”

“At least be glad we weren’t born in those inferior countries.”

“Hahahaha…”

“I heard even someone important in our country has stored all their treasures there.”

“Well, it’s safe—as long as we don’t attack, hahaha…”

Walking along the street, Ye Qingning listened to their conversation, her eyes sparkling. She was so absorbed that she nearly bumped into someone.

Fortunately, she was pulled back by an overseas Chinese man.

“Little girl, where’s your family?”

“I’m looking for them.”

“Where do you live?”

“Boot Country.” Though she really wanted to visit Candy Country, finding her family was more important.

“You’re not from Romance Country? Did you get separated from them?”

“Uncle, do you know which way leads to Boot Country?”

“You can go back on your own? Wait, I’ll give you a map.”

“Really? Thank you so much, Uncle! What’s your name? I’ll repay you in the future!”

“My name is Luo Jingqiao. Once I complete my studies, I’ll return to our homeland.”

Luo Jingqiao led Ye Qingning to his nearby rented place, found her a map, and packed some food for her.

“I’ll take you part of the way on my bike. Maybe your parents are waiting at the station.”

“Thank you, Uncle.”

Not only that, after failing to find her family, Luo Jingqiao even bought her a train ticket.

Before entering the station, Ye Qingning took out a paper-wrapped bundle from her coat pocket and stuffed it into Luo Jingqiao’s hands before running off.

She, Ye Qingning, didn’t owe favors.

When Luo Jingqiao opened it, he found a thick stack of Romance Country currency. He rushed into the station to look for her, but by then she had already squeezed onto the train.

Standing in the crowd with the oil-paper bundle, his eyes seemed to shine more brightly than before.

He accidentally glanced at the writing on the train and hurriedly waved, shouting, “Wrong! Wrong!”

Ye Qingning couldn’t hear what he was shouting. He probably hadn’t expected her to be so wealthy and generous.

After boarding, she didn’t even look for a seat. With people packed shoulder to shoulder, it was already good enough that she had space to stand.

She found a corner and sat down, closing her eyes to rest and recover her abilities.

The air smelled terrible. If it had been daytime, she would have climbed onto the roof and entered her space—that would have been far more comfortable.

She didn’t know how long the train ride took before arriving at Boot Country—a nation said to have invented freeze-dried food during wartime just to survive.

With the map in hand, Ye Qingning felt she was one step closer to going home.

But when she got off the train, she was stunned.

This wasn’t the relaxed and easygoing Boot Country—it was clearly Candy Country, where the entire population seemed mobilized for war!

The man ahead of her was carrying two boxes filled with gold. Was he heading to the bank?

Then she might as well follow along and broaden her horizons.

Really, her ambition wasn’t big—she just wanted to visit Candy Bank and take a look.

She checked the map. The distance from Candy Country to Boot Country was about the same as her previous journey from Romance Country to Boot Country.

Candy Bank truly lived up to its name—bright and glittering.

She loved that golden, shining color the most!

From one of the rooms came a conversation in Svastika Country’s language.

“Your country has gained quite a lot this time.”

“You just focus on your duties. After all, you’ve already taken over more than six billion in free gold from over fifty thousand accounts belonging to that ‘undesirable race.’”

“My apologies.”

“Just do your job properly.”

“Yes, sir. This way, please.”

Curiosity got the better of her. Unable to resist, Ye Qingning used her spatial perception to follow that VIP client.

“Miss, are you looking for someone? Or…?”

“I want to buy gold. Is that possible?”

She spoke in clumsy Svastika Country language. Wearing a wig and colored contacts, she looked completely like a foreign child.

The staff assumed she was just nervous.

“We don’t offer that service. You can purchase gold at a jewelry store.”

“What about currency exchange?”

“That is possible. May I ask how much you would like—”

At that moment, Ye Qingning’s attention drifted. She had spotted the client’s safe deposit box.

How many tons of gold was that?!

“Miss?”

“Oh, I want to exchange this much,” she said, indicating a box-sized amount, “into US dollars.”

“Where are your parents?”

Ye Qingning shook her head.

She could sense even more gold farther away, but her spatial perception couldn’t reach it yet.

What a pity.

“Sorry, you’re too young. We cannot process the exchange for you.”

“Alright.”

With regret, Ye Qingning left the bank.

The moment she stepped outside, she used her spatial perception again, searching toward areas with more gold. Looking up—wasn’t that a mountain range?

Following the mountains south would lead to Boot Country.

There was actually so much treasure hidden in those mountains. Could she take it all? Could she?

A black little figure and a white little figure began arguing in her mind.

The black one said: These are treasures of the mountains, gifts from nature. Take them! Take everything!

The white one said: They didn’t offend you. Why be so ruthless? How many people would lose their homes because of this?

Neither side could win the argument, so they simply started fighting.

Ye Qingning decided to compromise. She had heard that Candy Bank had taken over six billion in free gold, plus the spoils of war from Svastika Country—she would gladly accept those.

Of course, she converted everything into gold. She had no interest in currency.

As for Boot Country—she wouldn’t hold back.

Not understanding the language was troublesome. She couldn’t even figure out where to board a ship, so she stayed a few extra days and collected even more miscellaneous items.

She even went to watch a football match and discovered that the most popular player seemed to be the one her brother liked—someone called “Mei Gan Cai.”

Was that the name?

She quickly recorded videos and took photos. After the match ended, she eagerly chased after the players with a football, asking for autographs.

Since one signature was as good as another, she smiled and handed a pen to each of them.

She was going to pass it down as a family heirloom—then her brother would receive it someday.

Holding the football with a grin, she then set her sights on the jerseys they had taken off.

She stared intently at “Mei Gan Cai,” who seemed to understand and handed his jersey to her.

Afraid he might change his mind, Ye Qingning grabbed the ball and jersey and ran off.

The players shouted after her, but she didn’t stop. Though she couldn’t understand them, she assumed they were telling her to give them back.

The players: They had meant to give them all to her so they wouldn’t have to wash them.

That night, Ye Qingning cleared out all the rooms in her space except one suite, dumping everything into the warehouse.

She needed space for her heirlooms!

She really was a genius—her brother would definitely praise her when he found out.

Decision made—she would have braised pork with preserved vegetables for dinner!

When luck came, nothing could stop it.

Ye Qingning spotted a group of people carrying large and small bags, constantly being driven away. She could finally take a ship home!

The ticket cost nearly 3,000 Svastika Country currency. She remembered that even a regular car cost less than 2,000.

And she also had to buy a return ticket at the same time.

Robbery.

That was how Ye Qingning defined it.
