July 17, 16:35 PM
It felt as if time itself had stretched into infinity.
On top of the wall, the yellow-haired thug covered in tattoos had a look of triumphant excitement. Half his body had already climbed over the villa wall, his right hand clawing like an eagle toward the seemingly ordinary wire fence at the top.
“Heh heh… no spikes here! Brothers, hold on—I’m getting in to open the door…”
The very microsecond his fingertips touched the wire mesh—
ZZZZZ—!!!
A sound, not particularly loud, but enough to freeze the soul, suddenly exploded in the dead silence of the afternoon.
There was no expected scream.
Because under 100,000 volts of pulsed high voltage, the muscles of the vocal cords instantly spasmed and locked—no sound could come out at all.
The human ladder below was still pushing upward.
Gu Yan was still craning his neck, shouting excitedly:
“How is it?! Did he get in?! Hurry up and open the door!”
But in the next second, everyone saw a scene they would never forget for the rest of their lives.
The yellow-haired thug’s body suddenly stiffened—like a wooden stick forcibly snapped straight.
Then, countless blinding blue-purple electric arcs, like tiny thunder dragons, surged up his arm and instantly covered his entire body.
“G…g…g…”
A strange sound, like a broken bellows, came from his throat.
His eyeballs violently bulged due to extreme blood pressure, one of them even bursting capillaries and leaking two trails of blood.
The hand gripping the wire instantly turned black, skin curling and peeling like burnt paper, revealing stark white bone underneath.
Boom!
A thick plume of smoke rose from his hair, armpits, and feet.
It was the rapid carbonization of fat and proteins inside the human body under extreme heat.
The entire process lasted only three seconds.
But to Gu Yan and the mob, those three seconds felt longer than three centuries.
They watched a living person convulse, smoke, and turn black—like a fly on an electric swatter bathed in blue lightning.
Suddenly—
Click.
The villa’s circuit protection system triggered, briefly cutting the power.
The now completely charred human-shaped object lost support and fell straight down from the 3.5-meter wall.
THUD!
The body slammed heavily onto the ground.
And, by cruel coincidence, landed right beside Gu Yan’s feet.
A wave of scorching heat mixed with an overwhelming smell of roasted flesh—burnt hair, meat, and fat—hit his face and rushed straight into his nose.
At that moment, the world went silent.
Gu Yan stared blankly at the blackened corpse at his feet.
That charred hand was still in a grabbing pose, as if it would reach for his ankle in the next second.
“U—UAAAHH!!!”
He finally broke.
Strong nausea overwhelmed him, and he bent over, vomiting everything left in his stomach.
Then—
The crowd exploded.
“AHHHH!!”
“Electricity! High voltage!!”
“He’s dead!! He’s really dead!!”
The mob that had just been aggressive and armed with axes now scrambled backward in terror like cats whose tails had been stepped on.
Even the tattooed leader dropped his axe with a clang, his face pale, legs trembling uncontrollably.
This wasn’t a villa.
It was an execution ground wired with electricity!
Second Floor — Behind the Floor-to-Ceiling Window
Lin Chu still held her wine glass, calmly overlooking the chaos below.
Not even a single eyebrow moved.
“Seems like that hundred million was well spent.”
She murmured softly, glancing at the monitoring panel showing:
[Defense successful. Electric grid reset automatically.]
But she wasn’t done.
Killing wasn’t enough.
She had to break their minds.
Lin Chu placed the glass down and pressed the red [External Speaker] button again.
This time, no shouting, no panic.
Instead, a light, elegant, almost teasing voice echoed across the mountain road.
“Good afternoon, neighbors.”
The voice drifted clearly through the empty air.
“I posted grilled chicken wings in the group chat earlier—looks like you didn’t get enough to eat, so you came over for a ‘refill’?”
“How was it? Satisfied with that dish called… Electric Roasted Human?”
Those words were more lethal than the electricity itself.
They killed without spilling blood.
Gu Yan, still retching, suddenly looked up toward the closed window. His eyes were filled with unprecedented fear.
This woman… has lost her mind!
She killed someone—and she can still joke so calmly?!
She wasn’t the same Lin Chu who used to cry and act sweet anymore.
She was a demon!!
“LIN CHU!! THIS IS MURDER!!”
Aunt Wang collapsed to the ground, pointing at the villa.
“You have no law?! You killed someone! I’m calling the police!”
“Calling the police?”
Lin Chu’s cold laugh came through the speaker.
“Aunt Wang, are you overheating and hallucinating?”
“This is the apocalypse. If I don’t kill him, he kills me. It’s self-defense.”
Then her tone turned sharp:
“Also, a friendly reminder.”
“Just the appetizer.”
“My walls still have automatic crossbows. My yard is full of 300 bear traps.”
“If anyone thinks their life is tough enough, feel free to try again.”
“I don’t mind using a few more corpses as fertilizer for my flowers.”
Silence.
Dead silence.
No one doubted her anymore.
The smoking corpse on the ground was proof enough.
They had come as a mob.
But now they realized—
This wasn’t a sheep.
It was a dragon in human skin.
“Run… RUN!!”
The tattooed man was the first to turn and flee.
The rest followed, screaming and stumbling over each other in panic.
In less than half a minute—
The entrance that had been surrounded was completely empty.
Only the charred corpse remained under the burning sun.
And Gu Yan and Lin Wan, collapsed and trembling beside it.
One last passerby stopped and spat at Gu Yan:
“YOU DID THIS! You said she was just a weak woman! You said we could climb in!”
“You killed Er Gou!!”
His eyes were full of hatred—but fear won, and he ran.
Only three remained.
Lin Chu (inside), Gu Yan, Lin Wan.
And a corpse.
Lin Chu turned off the speaker.
She did not chase.
Because killing Gu Yan would be too easy.
Letting him stay here—in 65°C heat, beside a corpse, drowning in fear—was far more satisfying.
She returned to her sofa, took a bite of chilled watermelon.
“First wave… complete.”
She glanced at Gu Yan trembling beside the corpse.
“Gu Yan… tonight’s nightmare should be interesting.”
