“Let’s go.” Mu Qingruan waved her hand and all the supplies vanished into her space, once again leaving Jun Ruoli and the others stunned. So this was how a space ability user collected supplies. She did not even have to touch them.
“It’s almost evening. Let’s stay here for the night,” Jun Ruoli suggested after glancing at the sky outside.
“Okay!” everyone agreed and began tidying up.
“We’ve got meat today. Let’s eat as much as we can. If we leave it here, it’ll just spoil.”
Inside the small supermarket was a walk-in freezer. To everyone’s surprise, the meat stored inside had not gone bad.
“No matter how much we eat, we won’t finish it all. What a waste.” Long Potian sighed regretfully.
“It won’t be a waste if I put it in my space.” Mu Qingruan waved her hand and every piece of meat inside the freezer disappeared without a trace.
“Your space can preserve food too?” Xiao Yunzhou asked in surprise.
“That’s right. Time is frozen inside my space. Whatever goes in stays exactly the same when it’s taken out,” Mu Qingruan replied with a nod.
There was one more advantage she did not mention. Every item placed inside her space was automatically cataloged. Whenever she took something out, the space would automatically replenish it. That was the greatest benefit of the Infinite Storage Space. After all, when the system made a move, everything in the world was hers.
“That’s amazing! From now on, if we find anything perishable, we can store it without worrying,” Long Potian said excitedly.
“Little Qingruan really is our lucky star.” Chu Mochen reached over and gently patted her head.
He was not just flattering her. Ever since Mu Qingruan had joined their team, they had encountered fewer zombies and found more fully stocked supermarkets than ever before.
“That’s right. Little Qingruan is definitely our lucky star,” Long Potian agreed.
“If I’m your lucky star, can we start cooking now? Your lucky star is hungry,” Mu Qingruan said as she rubbed her stomach.
“Of course!” Jun Ruoli immediately picked up the ingredients and headed for the kitchen.
Ever since Mu Qingruan joined the team, Jun Ruoli had been the one cooking. It could not be helped. Among all of them, he was the only one who could actually prepare decent meals. When he cooked, Mu Qingruan would eat much more. Whenever anyone else cooked, although she never complained, she always ate at least half as much.
“Little Qingruan, dinner isn’t ready yet. Go get some rest while we discuss our next route,” Chu Mochen said with a smile.
“I’ll go help Brother Ruoli in the kitchen.” Mu Qingruan hurried toward the kitchen.
“What brings you here?” Jun Ruoli asked in surprise when he saw her.
“The other brothers are discussing tomorrow’s route, so I came to help you,” Mu Qingruan replied with a smile.
“Alright. Thanks for helping. Just wash those vegetables over there.”
“Okay!”
Mu Qingruan ran over to the sink and started washing the vegetables.
“Brother Ruoli, there’s barely any water. We can’t clean them properly.”
“It can’t be helped. Water is extremely scarce now.” Jun Ruoli let out a sigh.
“But I have a water ability.”
Mu Qingruan immediately filled the basin with water and carefully washed the vegetables.
“You have a water ability?” Jun Ruoli stared blankly at the full basin of water. Ever since meeting Mu Qingruan, he had experienced more surprises than during the previous twenty-two years of his life combined.
“Yep.”
She gathered another stream of water in her hand.
“That’s wonderful. We won’t have to worry about running out of water anymore.” Jun Ruoli happily patted her head. She truly kept surprising him.
“As long as I’m here, Brother Ruoli doesn’t have to worry.” Mu Qingruan proudly patted her chest.
“That’s right. Our Little Qingruan is the best.” Jun Ruoli chuckled softly, his eyes full of warmth.
During dinner, he told everyone that Mu Qingruan had awakened a water ability. The others were astonished and all praised and admired her.
“After dinner, we’ll stick to the usual schedule and take turns keeping watch. Qingruan, be a good girl and go to sleep, alright?” Jun Ruoli instructed.
“Mm! I know!”
Mu Qingruan nodded obediently. She knew they would never let her stand watch.
Late that night, while everyone was sleeping soundly, a zombie horde arrived outside the supermarket.
Mu Qingruan instantly opened her eyes and looked toward the outside.
“Master, it’s a zombie horde. What should we do?” White Tiger and the other beasts immediately woke up and looked at Mu Qingruan.
“A zombie horde? Heh. Perfect timing.”
Mu Qingruan stood up. After using her spiritual power to send Jun Ruoli and the others into an even deeper sleep, she instantly appeared outside the supermarket.
A chilling aura quietly spread through the area.
Suddenly, hundreds of zombies poured out from the street corner like a tidal wave.
Their limbs were stiff, their movements twisted, and deep growls escaped from their throats as though they had crawled out of hell itself.
They stumbled forward in overwhelming numbers, filling the open space before the supermarket in an instant. Their faces were hideously distorted, their lifeless eyes carried the aura of death, and their tattered clothing fluttered in the wind, stained with dried blood.
The zombie horde surged forward like a black flood.
Some of them scraped their claws against the walls and pavement, producing chilling scratching sounds. They charged relentlessly toward the supermarket as if determined to devour everything in their path.
The air itself seemed to freeze. Only the horrifying growls of the zombies echoed through the night, heralding the bloodshed and disaster to come.
Unfortunately, it was impossible to say whether that disaster was meant for the zombies or for Mu Qingruan.
“Master, what are you going to do?” White Fox asked lazily while lying across Mu Qingruan’s shoulder and watching the approaching zombies.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve stretched my muscles.”
Excitement flashed through Mu Qingruan’s eyes.
Her graceful figure radiated strength as a massive saber appeared in her hand, shrouded in black light and deathly energy. Beneath the moonlight, the blade gleamed with an icy brilliance. Flames burned in Mu Qingruan’s beautiful eyes as she pressed her lips together.
The zombies lunged at her with claws outstretched. Their foul stench and relentless growls filled the night.
Mu Qingruan moved.
She shot forward like lightning and swung her saber.
A flash of steel cut through the darkness. In an instant, a zombie’s head flew into the air as black blood sprayed across the night, grotesque beneath the moonlight.
Her blade moved with clean, decisive precision.
Every swing carried a fierce whistle through the air. Sometimes a single slash severed the heads of several zombies at once. Other times it cleaved a zombie diagonally from shoulder to waist. Limbs flew everywhere as the stench of blood spread across the battlefield.
Mu Qingruan weaved effortlessly through the horde like a phantom.
Her saber rose and fell without pause. Wherever she passed, zombies collapsed, heads rolled across the ground, and bodies were torn apart in gruesome fashion.
She showed not the slightest trace of mercy.
As time passed, the number of zombies steadily dwindled.
Yet Mu Qingruan remained as immaculate as when she had stepped outside. Not even her shoes bore the slightest stain.
