“Where am I?” Felix forced his eyes open.

His body ached all over.

The sharp, choking smell around him made him frown.Full novel: Arcane: The Road to Runeterra — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Smoke and fire filled the air, making him uneasy.

His whole body stayed tense.

He struggled to his feet and took two steps forward.

The wound on his leg throbbed faintly.

Then he saw his body, he looked about ten years old.

Had he been transported to another world?

In the middle of the firelight, a figure wearing gauntlets was pinning down a masked man and beating him savagely.

Hearing the noise, the man turned back.

Felix saw tears glitter in his eyes.

The man released the enemy beneath him and looked deeply toward the other side of the bridge.

Two girls also caught Felix’s attention.

The older girl had hair as red as fire and was tightly protecting the blue-haired girl in her arms.

“They look kind of familiar,” Felix thought.

But he did not make a sound.

He needed time to figure out where he was.

He was not sure the man would take him away if he called out.

Besides, he also needed to sort out his thoughts, along with the system that had just appeared in his mind.

Vander’s mood was heavy.

His eyes, full of guilt, lingered on the two little girls before he picked them both up.

The bridge was covered in smoke and blood.

On one side lay wealth and peace.

On the other lay chaos and poverty.

The fighting ended.

One wounded person after another slowly followed Vander in retreat, while more people lay by the roadside, never to stand again.

The other side did not pursue them.

At last, someone noticed Felix.

The man was somewhat thin.

Though they had lost the battle, the light in his eyes was unmistakable.

“Poor child.

Where are your parents?

Who brought you here?” Felix shook his head and said nothing.

“My name is Silco.

Since that’s the case, you’ll stay with me from now on.” As he spoke, he took Felix’s hand and led him toward the Undercity.

Silco brought Felix to an abandoned factory.

Only then did Felix speak.

“Why did they have to fight?” Felix did not know where he was.

He only knew the environment around him was truly awful.

It could not compare to the place where he had lived before.

He wanted to use indirect questions to get more information.

Hearing Felix’s question, Silco first looked saddened by the sacrifices of his companions, but hope soon burned in his eyes again.

“People from Zaun are born beneath others.

For us, merely scraping by in the Undercity is already considered lucky.

People from Piltover are born above everyone else.

They see Zaun as a sewer and Zaunites as trash.

All we want is to live with dignity.” “Even if there is a gap in strength, even if there will be bloodshed and sacrifice, as long as that man gives the order, we will charge forward without hesitation.

Because we are fighting for dignity.

We are fighting for Zaun’s future.

This time, Piltover learned that Zaun cannot be bullied so easily.

Only resistance can earn dignity.” “Felix, your parents’ sacrifice was not meaningless.

This is a revolution.

I’ll raise you myself.” Silco’s eyes shone as he spoke.

Felix gathered a great deal of information from Silco’s words.

Piltover.

Zaun.

Those two names lingered in Felix’s mind.

Was this the continent of Valoran?

Seeing that Felix had stopped speaking, Silco also realized he had said too much.

He simply cleaned up a room and let Felix rest.

After Silco left the room, Felix stared at the ceiling and examined the functions of the system in his mind.

The system was called Skin Master.

The name of the Skin Master system was very simple, just like its function.

Felix could see the skins of every League of Legends champion, along with their crafting methods.

That was right, crafting methods.

The skins in Skin Master were roughly divided into two types.

One type was equipment-based skins, such as the Galaxy Slayer line or the Mecha Kingdoms line.

After unlocking this type of skin, he would receive its crafting method.

After that, he would have to build it himself through practice.

The other type was status-based skins, such as the Dragonmancer line.

After crafting them, he could obtain temporary-use cards.

The advantage was that he did not need to make them himself.

The system could generate them directly, and they were very powerful.

As for the drawbacks, they had limited uses, their cost was higher, and obtaining them was much harder.

The method for obtaining skin crafting methods was also very simple.

Money.

That was right.

This system used a lottery wheel.

Every ten standard gold coins could be exchanged for one draw.

Ten consecutive draws granted one extra draw.

Interestingly, the lottery wheel could also draw RP, and those RP could be used to exchange for the skin of a designated champion.

Since it was a system, of course it gave him ten free draws at the start.

Felix did not think too much and immediately did a ten-pull.

Graves’ Hired Gun Fragment, shotgun blueprint, x1.

RP x2.

RP x3.

…

Better Luck Next Time.

From the ten-pull, Felix obtained a shotgun blueprint, a little over twenty RP, and two Better Luck Next Times.

The shotgun blueprint flashed through Felix’s mind.

The assembly was extremely simple and easy to understand, giving Felix confidence.

A shotgun from the Mafia Graves skin.

Hopefully, it had decent power.

“I really came to the world of League of Legends.” Felix stared at the ceiling and murmured to himself.

League of Legends had always been his favorite game.

He just did not understand this world all that well.

The League’s own storyline was already somewhat messy and vague.

But League of Legends was a tragic world.

Without power, everything was futile.

Felix did not want to be transported to another world only to live on like a rat.

He wanted to live brilliantly, just like he had on Earth, even if that brilliance lasted only as briefly as fireworks.

Then he thought of the two girls on the bridge.

The red-haired one should have been Vi.

Then the blue-haired girl should have been Jinx, right?

She was still pretty cute when she was little.

Although Felix was not entirely certain, he still felt a little emotional.

He really had no idea how those two sisters, who had once relied on each other, ended up turning against one another.

Soon, Silco returned with some food and several sets of bedding.

He handed the food to Felix, gave him a few brief instructions, and left.

Three months later…

“Felix, hurry up and get ready.

We’re leaving.” Silco pushed open the door and spoke to Felix.

At that moment, Felix was doing physical training.

His bare upper body was not especially muscular, but it looked lean and refined.

“What?

I don’t want to go out.

I’ve really had enough of Zaun’s environment.” “We’re going to Piltover.” “Vander definitely wouldn’t want to hear you say that.

But I also want to see Piltover.” Felix had also had enough of Zaun’s gloom, even after staying there for three months.

Zaun was divided into three levels.

Zaun’s upper level existed alongside Piltover’s lower districts, but the architectural styles of the two were utterly different and would never be confused.

Zaun’s wealthy gathered there to shop, dine, and exchange goods and supplies from the lower levels.

The middle level was crowded with all kinds of merchants and peddlers.

Most of the work that kept Zaun running was completed there.

However, it was also the area where the Gray was at its worst.

The depths of Zaun were the filthiest and most active area.

The source of the Gray was there, rising from foul open sewers and rusted ventilation ducts.

Felix and the others lived in Zaun’s middle level.

Although Felix was troubled by the environment, he had more or less barely gotten used to it.

“Vander?

Don’t mention that bastard to me!

I really don’t know what he’s thinking.

Did our people just sacrifice themselves for nothing?” “You argued again?

I remember you used to praise him all the time for having courage, calling him the hope of the Lanes and everything.” “I don’t know what happened to him either.

The topsiders scared the fight out of him.” “Fine.

Then why are we going to Piltover?

To blow up their council building?” Felix asked, pretending to be excited.

“Don’t think I don’t know you’re mocking me, brat.” Silco glanced at Felix.

“There’s a deal.

We’re going to buy their research parts.” “Obsolete ones?” At Felix’s question, Silco fell silent for a long while.

Just when Felix was about to change the subject, Silco finally spoke.

“Yes.” Seeing Silco’s mood sink, Felix tugged at his arm.

“Come on.

Who says Zaunites are inferior to Piltovans?

I’m going to use the materials they threw away to make weapons even they can’t produce.

I’ll let those topside bastards know what equality really means.” Silco knew Felix had recently been tinkering with a shotgun, but he had only treated it as a child’s game.

He let out a long breath.

“Let’s go, Felix.” Zaun was not far from Piltover.

To be honest, the two cities were companion cities, or rather, they were one city.

Only that bridge separated them like an uncrossable chasm.

After a bumpy ride, the vehicle slowly came to a stop.

“We’re here.

Get out,” Silco called from outside.

“This is incredible.

So this is Piltover.” Felix took a deep breath of the air.

“One day, Zaun will also…” Silco murmured, then cut himself off.

“Let’s go.

We’re heading to Piltover’s market.” Piltover could be called the transportation hub of this world.

Trade was Piltover’s lifeblood.

This city controlled the eastern and western sea routes, earning staggering wealth through its geographical advantage.

Noxus relied on it to transport supplies all over the world and complete its invasions, while Piltover also earned a considerable fee from that arrangement.

The trade halls were magnificent, but clearly not a place Felix and the others could enter.

In fact, they even had to avoid pedestrians, because the people of Piltover were completely different from Zaunites in both dress and bearing.

Soon, they arrived at the market.

Amid the surging crowd, Silco and Felix entered an inconspicuous little shop in a corner of the market.

Watching the two of them talk, Felix felt a little bored.

“I’m going to walk around outside.” “Don’t go too far.

Remember to come back soon.” Silco was discussing prices with the shop owner and did not even turn his head.

When Zaunites came to Piltover, it could truly be described as a tiger entering a flock of sheep.

Their superb stealing skills, combined with their young age, made them seem harmless to humans and animals alike.

Anyone targeted by them was destined to lose money.

Still, Felix was very careful.

He tried to walk in places with heavy foot traffic, and soon completed one theft.

As Felix fiddled with the wallet he had just lifted after pretending to fall and brush against someone, he straightened his collar.

During his time in Zaun, he had suffered his share of losses.

Learning to steal after spending three months there was not difficult.

Besides, Felix liked cleanliness and did not have that wild Zaunite edge.

His clothes were only slightly worn, making him look more like a lower-class child from Piltover.

He roughly checked the bills in the wallet.

They were worth about three gold coins.

That was no small amount.

In Zaun, earning three gold coins would require a full month of honest work.

While marveling inwardly at how wealthy Piltovans were, he began looking at the goods around him.

The variety of goods was dazzling.

Fresh produce, tools, technological products.

Some he had seen in his previous life, while others he had not.

The sight left Felix overwhelmed.

“Catch her!

She’s a thief!” An furious woman’s voice came from not far away.

“Damn it.” Felix hurriedly looked toward the direction of the voice.

He saw a blue-haired girl fallen to the ground, her hand caught by a woman.

The woman held a wallet in her other hand.

A few scattered copper coins had fallen onto the ground.

It was the blue-haired girl from last time.

Felix did not go directly to rescue her.

Instead, he moved with the crowd toward the scene.

Passing by a vendor selling brackern beetles, Felix directly tossed down a small stack of bills, grabbed a brackern beetle about the same size as himself, and said, “Keep the change.” When he saw a red-haired girl rushing over as well, Felix became even more certain of their identities.

At this moment, Powder and the woman were surrounded.

Felix squeezed hard through the outer edge of the crowd.

“This kid, seriously.” The people around him grumbled and opened a narrow gap for him.

Powder also saw Felix approaching.

Felix pretended to fall again, opened the cage in passing, and secretly stabbed the brackern beetle with a small knife.

The beetle, originally about the same size as Felix, fell to the ground and split into many smaller beetles.

The onlookers all scattered to avoid the frenzied little brackern beetles.

“My brackern beetle!” Seeing that the woman was still gripping Powder’s collar, Felix ran toward the beetle closest to her.

As he passed the woman, he deliberately rammed into her.

Powder finally broke free, and Vi rushed over as well, grabbing Powder’s hand and hurrying away into the distance.

As she left, Felix heard the blue-haired girl say beside his ear, “Thank you.” The woman Felix had knocked into fell to the ground and started cursing.

“Are you blind?

Or are you with her?” “I’m sorry, ma’am.” Felix picked up the nearby brackern beetle, his tone apologetic and nervous.

“It was too crowded just now, and I don’t know who damaged the brackern beetle.

I’m really sorry.

I can compensate you for your loss.” Felix retreated in order to advance.

Seeing so many people around them pointing and whispering, the woman cursed her rotten luck but did not continue arguing.

She left directly.

Felix did not immediately go back to Silco.

Instead, he continued through the market and bought some mechanical materials.

After filling his backpack with them, he also bought some lamb and sauces, carried them in his hands, and headed toward the general store.

When he reached the general store, Silco had just finished talking with the shop owner.

There was an entire small cart full of parts, but judging from Silco’s expression, he was not very happy.

“Seriously, after going to Piltover, I really don’t want to go back to Zaun,” Felix said on the way back.

“No one truly likes Zaun’s environment from the bottom of their heart.

No one,” Silco said.

“I really want to change Zaun’s environment.

I need to talk to Vander again.”
