After parting with Powder, Felix returned straight to the factory.

He began thinking about tomorrow’s plan.

If he wanted to obtain a large amount of money, he needed to find a collaborator with enough weight behind them.Full novel: Arcane: The Road to Runeterra — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

People from Piltover looked down on cooperation with lowly Zaunites, even if the profits from this product were enormous.

Felix could only set his sights on Zaun’s Chem-Barons, but that was no different from making a deal with the devil.

He had no choice.

If he wanted something, he had to take some risks and pay some price.

The target he chose was Baron Saito Takeda.

Unlike several other barons, who controlled chemtech, he claimed to come from a warrior-caste family in a distant land, only ending up here because his ancestors had been exiled.

Most importantly, he did not get along with the other Chem-Barons.

Or rather, he simply looked down on them.

A proud man.

A man with a need for weapons.

See, that was the contradiction.

Felix could not be certain whether Baron Saito Takeda would be so arrogant that he would refuse to even let him through the door.

The next day, Felix took the elevator to Zaun’s upper level and arrived at the clothing store he had visited yesterday.

Behind him followed several workers carrying crates of weapons.

“Boss, I’m here to pick up my clothes.” He was still wearing the mask, and his voice was still hoarse.

“Of course.

They’re already finished for you.” The clothing shop owner hurriedly stood and brought out the clothes.

Felix went directly into the fitting room and put them on.

He looked them over.

They fit well.

This outfit would keep the Chem-Baron from guessing Felix’s identity when they met.

Felix adjusted his top hat, told the owner he was very satisfied, then walked toward the door.

“Sir, you haven’t taken your old clothes.” “Give them to someone who needs them.” Felix did not look back.

His old clothes had not been comfortable for him anyway.

Felix walked through Zaun’s top level.

Wealthy Zaunites strolled here, while people from Piltover came here hoping to buy contraband banned in their own city, though most of them would be badly gouged.

He stopped in front of a tall building.

Chemtech lamps lit the fixtures, reflecting creative arrangements of stained glass.

Polished steel halos guided light into darkness.

This was also a characteristic of Zaunite architecture.

Felix walked up to the guard, took a cloth-wrapped firearm from one of the crates carried by the workers behind him, then pulled out several bills and slipped them to the guard.

“I have a business deal involving this item that I’d like to discuss with Baron Saito Takeda.

Please inform him.” The guard looked deeply at Felix, exchanged a few words with his companion, then accepted the bills and the firearm before going inside to deliver the message.

Soon, he returned to the entrance.

“The baron says you may go up, but only you.” Felix did not panic.

“Then I’ll have to trouble you to help me carry the rest of the goods.” Under the guard’s lead, Felix walked to Baron Saito Takeda’s office.

“My dear baron, I would like to discuss a business deal with you.

I believe you also need these things.” “Are you from topside?

These were discarded by topside, weren’t they?” Baron Saito Takeda asked in a low voice.

“Where they came from isn’t important, is it?” Felix did not answer directly.

“It isn’t important, but ten firearms alone are not worth me meeting you.” The baron did not press him either.

“These are only samples, Baron.

If you are satisfied with the samples, then I will provide the real goods.

At least thirty per month, and the quality will not be lower than these samples.” Baron Saito Takeda could not help being surprised when he heard that number.

He could tell that the craftsmanship of these firearms was still flawed.

They might be defective products.

But if he could obtain thirty each month, that would absolutely ease the awkward situation of not having chemtech weapons in his hands.

“What’s the price?” He was already tempted, but the expression on his face did not change.

He remained calm.

“Fifteen gold coins each.

We choose the trading location every month, and goods and payment are settled on the spot.” “They’re defective products at best.

Ten gold coins, no more.” “Thirteen gold coins each.

That’s the lowest price I can accept.

You should know, Zaun has other Chem-Barons.” Baron Saito Takeda took a deep breath.

He did not like others talking back to him.

Even so, he took out a bag of gold coins from a drawer, then took out another small pile.

“There are one hundred gold coins in the bag.

These are thirty more.

That is the payment for this batch.” “A pleasure doing business with you, dear baron.” Felix put away the gold coins and spoke.

“A pleasure.” “Silco, this is for you.” Felix returned to the factory and directly tossed the bag of gold coins to Silco.

He knew Silco had spent a great deal of money building him a small military workshop and hiring assistants.

Besides, this was exactly when Silco needed money.

Researching the serum and recruiting people all required money.

“What is this?

So many gold coins?

Where did you get them?” Silco was somewhat surprised.

“You didn’t go to topside, did you?” “I’m not that stupid, Silco.

I just sold my first batch of firearms.” “To who?” The arms trade itself was an industry of massive profits, so Silco was not surprised that the weapons had sold for this much money.

What surprised him was that Felix had found a buyer so quickly.

He had already been preparing to help Felix clear out the goods.

“Baron Saito Takeda.

He needs these things badly.” Felix took off the top hat on his head and played with it.

“If I sold them to other regions, I could earn more.

Bilgewater, for example.

It’s just that I don’t have the strength right now, nor the energy.” “You did very well, Felix.” Silco felt a little gratified.

He placed the gold coins into the safe.

Felix also knew the password to the safe.

Ever since Silco had been injured, he trusted Felix even more.

In truth, Silco had once saved the lives of those barons.

But that was only in the past.

His current situation was not good.

“Shouldn’t we keep some weapons for ourselves, Silco?” “Not for now.

Vander was right about one thing.

For the time being, we still have no way to fight Piltover to the death.

Only once Shimmer is successfully developed will we truly be able to battle Piltover.” “Hey, hey, the guns I make are strong too, okay?” Felix was unconvinced.

Only in front of Silco did Felix seem to return to being a child again.

“If every firearm you made were the same as that one gun of yours, I would also bet everything on your weapons.” Silco glanced at Felix.

“That’s different.

My gun is one of a kind.” Felix explained, but he did not argue too much.

That same day, Felix went to his small military workshop.

Well, it was actually just a small section of the original factory that had been divided out for Felix.

“Your task is to produce thirty-five sets of firearm components every month.

No defective products.

No cutting corners.

Otherwise, you know the consequences.” Felix gave orders to the workers who had mastered the techniques.

They could already produce parts, although their success rate was rather moving, in the worst sense.

“Understood, boss.” The responses below were sparse and scattered.

The base cost required to make one Felix-brand shotgun was roughly three or four gold coins, while the sale price was an astonishing thirteen gold coins.

That profit margin would make any corporate shark cry.

However, corresponding to those profits were risks.

Crackdowns from topside, double-crosses, and all sorts of other factors made firearm trafficking a high-risk profession, even in the lawless land of Zaun.

Most importantly, they lacked gunpowder.

However, that could be obtained from topside.

After all, Piltover was the City of Progress and trade, though the cost would be high.

For that, Felix would have to rely on Silco to keep things running safely.

He starts out weak and almost gets killed by Aatrox, but survives by using his knowledge of League lore.
