Xiao Ye’s long legs and slim waist she had desired them for years.

But she had never succeeded.

Shen Yuetao was the daughter of a deputy commander of the provincial military district. She had been traveling to the countryside just to chase him, had even transferred to work in his Liaodong military district for him.Full novel: Arriving at the Military Compound with a Child the Neighboring Officer Falls for Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She had the looks and the family background; her grandfather had saved Xiao Ye’s second uncle’s life.

Why wouldn’t he be with her?

She was fuming when her eyes suddenly fell on the delicate Su Yemang beside him.

In that instant, her swelling anger overpowered her desire.

She thought to herself: “Brother Ye, wait until I deal with that bitch Su, avenge you… then you’ll see how good I am…”

Train car connection area.

Xiao Ye tossed the tied up man aside and crouched to continue dressing Su Yemang’s wound.

Su Yemang whispered thanks, “Thank you, Comrade Xiao Ye.”

Xiao Ye remained silent.

His peripheral vision caught Su Yemang’s amber colored pupils, her fox like eyes.

A flicker of desire stirred in him; he exhaled slowly… the angles of his jaw sharper.

After applying the medicine, he lifted the man from the floor and headed toward the guard room.

No sooner had Xiao Ye left than Shen Yuetao sneaked over.

Next train car.

Yun Ruo, too lazy to wait in line, came over to fetch water and filled a large cup.

Carrying the hot water through the car, she immediately drew admiration from women and longing mixed with self consciousness from men.

Shen Yuetao spotted her at once…

She was 173 cm tall with striking, exotic features.

She snorted, eyes falling on the large cup of water in Yun Ruo’s hands, and quietly followed her.

Yun Ruo noticed Su Yemang and the child beside her.

She hesitated, then finally approached.

“Xiaoang,” she called.

Su Yemang turned around.

Shen Yuetao extended her leg

“Mama, watch out!” Su Yixin shouted, lunging toward his mother’s back.

A green figure swiftly intercepted, shielding Su Yixin.

“Slap…”

Scalding hot water spilled over the back, soaking the military jacket and rising in steam.

Xiao Ye’s stoic back let out only a muffled groan, light as a feather.

Su Yemang turned and saw that Xiao Ye had been burned.

Her neck tingled instantly.

Shen Yuetao panicked, “Brother Ye, what… what happened?”

Yun Ruo, furious, pointed at Shen Yuetao. “You, lady… why did you trip me?”

Shen Yuetao forced calm, chin raised. “Who tripped you? You fell on your own.”

Yun Ruo, seething, wanted to laugh. “Our eyes are both 5.0. Don’t think I’m blind.”

Everyone was looking now.

Su Yemang rushed to Xiao Ye, flustered, trying to check his injury.

Yun Ruo ran over as well. “Xiaomang, are you okay?”

“Sister Yun Ruo?”

Su Yemang stood. “You… you’re on this train too?”

Yun Ruo whispered, “I’m going to a cultural troupe at the Liaodong military camp. Forget that for now Xiaomang, are you burned? And the child beside you, he… is?”

Su Yemang touched Su Yixin’s head. “This is my son.”

“You have a child already?” Yun Ruo froze for a moment.

She turned her face away. “Then… your brother must have been married this long too, and have children, right?”

Her body went suddenly cold.

Su Yemang had finished checking her son and was about to explain to Yun Ruo.

But when she turned, Yun Ruo had already left.

Su Yixin pouted, “Uncle Xiao Ye, it really hurts, huh…”

Xiao Ye replied with a low “Mm,” brow subconsciously furrowed, eyes glancing elsewhere.

Su Yemang grabbed a handkerchief to wipe his back. “First dry it, then quickly take off your jacket and apply the medicine…”

Xiao Ye pressed her hand down, “I don’t need you to worry about it.”

The moment their hands touched, Su Yemang’s heart skipped.

Xiao Ye withdrew and stood, glaring at Shen Yuetao. “Freeze! Wait for the train police.”

Shen Yuetao smiled, “Your Xiao family owes mine a life. Are you really going to hand me over to the police?”

Xiao Ye’s expression instantly turned cold.

He was thinking as he used some scrap paper to clean up the broken glass.

“Young man, use a handkerchief, or you’ll cut yourself!” an elderly man said, handing one to Xiao Ye.

Shen Yuetao quickly pushed the old man aside and pulled out her own handkerchief. “Brother Ye, use mine. That old man’s isn’t clean.”

Xiao Ye’s voice was cold. “You’re the one who’s not clean.”

He took the old man’s towel. “Thank you.”

Shen Yuetao bit her lip, tears suddenly gathering in her eyes. “Brother Ye… you… you’re scolding me? You have… have the right to scold me?”

Su Yemang suddenly stood. “Because you extended your leg to trip someone and tried to scald me with hot water.”

Shen Yuetao’s pupils widened; a fiery glint flared in her eyes.

“Scald you, so what? Su Yemang, you bitch! You abandoned Brother Ye back then and still have the face to show up here!”

Yun Ruo was about to grab Shen Yuetao.

But Xiao Ye glared at Shen Yuetao first. “Say that one more time?”

Shen Yuetao’s heart skipped a beat.

He continued, “Shen Yuetao, scalding someone with boiling water is considered provoking trouble. I will report this to your military district, and it will go on record.”

“Oh my, what’s going on here…”

The passengers murmured among themselves.

The train chugged along, the car noisy and bustling.

Some ate pickles, some cracked sunflower seeds and peanuts, whispering about Su Yemang and Yun Ruo’s appearances.

“Brother Ye, you’re so foolish. I’m taking revenge for you. Why are you protecting Su Yemang? She’s already having a child with someone else!” Shen Yuetao pointed toward Su Yixin as she spoke.

Xiao Ye’s face darkened instantly.

He glanced at Shen Yuetao, eyes sharp as a knife. “My business isn’t for you to comment on.

“Leave.”

“You!” Shen Yuetao flung her handkerchief in anger.

She looked toward the next car, where a male attendant was quietly signaling her.

She lifted her leg and walked toward him.

Seconds later, she turned back defiantly. “Brother Ye, you’re entangled with that woman again? Want to lose another half of your life?”

Su Yemang’s heart sank.

“Oh my, tsk tsk tsk…” The crowd got excited again, munching on pumpkin seeds and peanuts.

Xiao Ye remained silent, back straight, moving forward.

Su Yemang quickly took her son back to his seat, then ran after him. “Xiao Ye!”

Xiao Ye turned; Su Yemang stopped.

He lowered his gaze, studying her as she caught her breath.

“Your back needs medicine immediately…”

Su Yemang avoided his gaze, secretly scraping the medicine bottle inside her sleeve.

Seconds later, he said in a deep voice, “Mm.”

Su Yemang followed him.

Xiao Ye’s eyes were dark and unreadable as he leaned down toward her. “Anything else?”

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, a nine foot tall frame looming over her.

Less than half a meter apart, his breath brushing the side of her face.

Su Yemang’s ears reddened.

She handed over the bottle. “Comrade Xiao, thank you for shielding us just now… otherwise…”

Xiao Ye didn’t take the medicine. He clenched his jaw and said, “Comrade Su, don’t worry about it. I’m only helping an ordinary citizen.”

After saying this, he walked toward the guard room.

Su Yemang swallowed hard, unable to follow.

To become the calm person she was today, she had already shed so many tears.

Guard room.

“Captain Xiao, you got scalded, here’s some clothes to change into.” The train officer handed him the clothes enthusiastically.

“Thank you,” Xiao Ye said in a low voice.

He took the clothes with both hands. “By the way, Officer Li, that man in the felt hat…”

Officer Li straightened. “Don’t worry. He’s in custody. The domestic abuse case you reported will be forwarded to the police at the next station.”

In the carriage.

The floor was still wet from the spilled hot water. Su Yemang was mopping, helped by two young men.

Train guard room.

Outside, the sky darkened, the wind whistling through the gaps.

Xiao Ye applied the medicine and walked back.

Returning to his seat, he saw Su Yemang laughing and talking with the two young men, giving each an apple.

Xiao Ye’s head went numb.

Memories of when Su Yemang had broken up with him flooded back.

At that time, he had restrained her for two hours to prove a point.

She had still defiantly said, “Xiao Ye, you’re terrible in bed. I want someone else!”

“Who do you want instead?”

“Someone younger.”
