Chapter 4: The Dragon That Descended “Some storms announce themselves with thunder…
Others descend in silence, carrying only death in their shadow.” The evening breeze drifted gently through the streets, carrying with it the scent of fresh bread and blooming flowers.
Inside the once-empty hotel, warmth had finally returned.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, laughter echoed beneath its roof.
Sai stood before the twins, his youthful face carrying a smile far older than his age.
He lowered his head deeply.
“…Thank you.” His voice was soft, yet every word carried the weight of gratitude that could never be repaid.
KING remained as expressionless as ever.
“What are you thanking us for?” Sai slowly lifted his head.
“If it wasn’t for you…
they would’ve taken my sister away.” Shadow quietly looked toward him.
“We didn’t save anyone.” Sai blinked.
Shadow continued calmly, “We merely sat here.” Sai laughed helplessly.
“…You’re strange, Big Brother.” KING folded his arms.
“You should sleep.” Sai nodded.
“I know…” He glanced toward the kitchen where Jiang Yi was quietly cleaning the dishes.
“…But somehow…” His smile became brighter.
“…for the first time in a month…” “…I think tomorrow will be peaceful.” Neither KING nor Shadow answered.
Deep inside…
Both of them knew one truth.
Peace…
…was always temporary.
The moon slowly crossed the sky.
Darkness embraced the city.
Meanwhile…
Inside an enormous mansion decorated with golden pillars and jade statues…
A man lazily swirled crimson wine inside a crystal goblet.
His long black hair rested behind his back.
His eyes were filled with arrogance.
His name…
Ye Lin.
The true ruler of this city.
Although Sovereign Academy officially governed the region…
Everyone knew…
The city obeyed only one man.
Him.
He smiled while staring outside the enormous window.
“So…” “The hotel still refuses…” Before he could finish…
The massive doors burst open.
BANG!!
Ten familiar gangsters stumbled inside.
Every one of them had pale faces.
Sweat soaked their clothes.
Their bodies trembled uncontrollably.
Ye Lin didn’t even bother looking at them.
“…You’re late.” Silence.
“…Speak.” The leader immediately fell onto both knees.
“Boss…!!” “We…” “We failed…” Only then…
Ye Lin slowly turned around.
“…Failed?” His voice wasn’t loud.
Yet everyone felt as if death itself had spoken.
“T-Two outsiders…” “They ignored your orders…” “They…” The man swallowed hard.
“They almost killed us.” Crack.
The crystal goblet inside Ye Lin’s hand shattered.
Red wine slowly dripped across the floor like fresh blood.
His smile disappeared.
“…Outsiders?” “Yes…” “They’re staying inside Jiang Yi’s hotel.” “They scared us away…” The gangster hesitated.
“…Without even moving.” Silence filled the hall.
For several long seconds…
Nobody dared breathe.
Then— Ye Lin laughed.
“Hahaha…” His laughter echoed throughout the mansion.
The gangsters slowly relaxed.
The boss wasn’t angry.
He was laughing.
Surely— CRASH!!
Without warning…
The marble table exploded beneath Ye Lin’s fist.
The entire mansion trembled violently.
Everyone froze.
Veins bulged across Ye Lin’s forehead.
“You…” “…Ran away…” “…From two children?” His aura exploded.
The windows shattered instantly.
Every servant inside the mansion collapsed unconscious.
The gangsters pressed their foreheads against the floor.
“We’re sorry, Boss!!” Ye Lin’s eyes burned with murderous intent.
“…Pathetic.” “I should kill all ten of you.” The gangsters’ faces turned deathly pale.
“B-But Boss!!” “They’re monsters!” Ye Lin slowly walked toward them.
Each footstep echoed like the tolling of a funeral bell.
When he reached them…
He looked down with cold eyes.
“…Monsters?” He smiled.
“No.” “There is only one monster…” “…In this city.” His terrifying aura burst outward.
“…And that’s me.” Without another word…
His figure vanished.
BOOM!!
The mansion doors exploded apart.
A violent gust swept across the entire estate.
The gangsters slowly raised their heads.
“…Boss…” “…He’s serious…” Ten minutes later…
Outside Jiang Yi’s hotel…
The peaceful morning suddenly became silent.
Merchants stopped shouting.
Children stopped playing.
Even the birds abandoned the sky.
An overwhelming pressure descended upon the city.
BOOOOOOM!!
A figure crashed onto the street before the hotel.
Stone shattered.
Dust filled the air.
Citizens fled in terror.
“It’s Ye Lin!” “Run!” “Everyone run!” Within moments…
The bustling street became completely empty.
Only one man remained standing amidst the crater.
Ye Lin.
His cold gaze rested upon the hotel.
“I know you’re inside.” His voice spread through the entire street.
“So…” “Come out.” Silence.
Then— His smile slowly widened.
“If you don’t…” “…I’ll erase this building.” He casually raised one finger.
Golden spiritual energy gathered above it.
The surrounding air distorted.
The attack hadn’t even been released…
Yet cracks had already begun spreading across the ground.
Inside the hotel…
Shadow slowly opened his eyes.
KING looked toward the window.
“…He’s here.” Shadow stood up.
“I know.” Neither brother hurried.
Neither showed fear.
They simply walked downstairs…
Step…
Step…
Step…
The wooden floor echoed beneath their calm footsteps.
The twins stepped outside.
The wooden door quietly closed behind them.
The morning wind gently lifted their black coats.
Two silent figures…
Standing before an entire city’s nightmare.
