The morning sun crept through the apartment window, hitting Flame right in the eyes.
He groaned, rubbing his sore neck.
Sleeping on the couch was definitely not his best idea.
He stood up, stretched his aching back, and glanced over at the floor where Reian was still sound asleep.
Then, Flame looked at the bed—and his jaw dropped.
Silvia was sprawled out completely across the mattress, hugging the blanket tight, snoring softly without a care in the world.
Flame aggressively nudged Reian with his foot.
“Hey.
Bro, wake up.
Look at this.”
Reian blinked his eyes open, groaning as his injured shoulder throbbed a little.
“What…
what’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?!” Flame whispered-yelled, pointing a dramatic finger at the bed.
“I slept on the couch, you slept on the hard floor with an actual injury, and look at her!
She’s living like a queen in our bed!”
Reian rubbed his eyes and let out a tired chuckle.
“Oh, come on, let it go, bro.
She did guard the whole apartment yesterday while we were out.
Cut her some slack.” Then, a mischievous smirk crept onto Reian’s face.
He leaned closer to Flame and whispered with a massive wink, “Besides…
how could I let my future sister-in-law sleep on the cold floor?”
Flame’s face instantly flushed a furious bright red.
“Shut up!” he hissed, giving Reian a swift, playful punch to the stomach.
But the words had barely left Flame’s mouth when the air in the room suddenly turned freezing cold.
The hair on the back of Reian’s neck stood on end.
He didn’t even need to turn around to know that Silvia was awake—and she had definitely heard them.
Reian’s eyes went wide with pure panic.
He grabbed Flame’s shirt, trembling.
“B-Bro…
save me.
Deal with your girl, please!”
Flame took one look at the terrifying silhouette rising from the bed and immediately took a step back, shaking his head.
“Nope.
I value my life, man.
You’re on your own, or I’m getting beaten up too.”
“Oh, so that’s how it is?” Reian gasped, betrayed.
He quickly turned toward the bed, raising his hands in defense.
“Silvia!
Wait!
It wasn’t me!
Flame told me to say it!
It was all his idea!”
“Hey!
I never said that!” Flame screamed.
But it was too late.
Within seconds, a chaotic blur of flying pillows and angry shouts filled the room.
By the time the dust settled, both Reian and Flame were sitting on the floor, rubbing their bruised heads, looking thoroughly beaten up.
An hour later, the brothers were finally dressed and ready for school.
“Hey, keep an eye on the place while we’re gone, alright?”
Reian, who just couldn’t help himself, smirked and teased, “Look at you, bro.
Ordering the wife around to take care of the house—”
Before Reian could even finish the joke, a dark, murderous aura leaked out from the apartment door.
Reian and Flame didn’t even look back.
They grabbed their bags, bolted out the door, and sprinted down the hallway like their lives depended on it, running all the way to the school gates.
When they finally arrived, panting and catching their breath, Reian stopped dead in his tracks.
His mind went completely blank.
Standing right by the school entrance, looking around the crowd, was Silya.
She was waiting for him.
Silya’s eyes lit up when she spotted him.
She walked over with a bright, warm smile.
“Morning, Reian!”
Reian just stood there like a statue, his mouth slightly open, completely dazed.
Thwack!
Flame punched him right in the back of the head, bringing him back to reality.
“Ow!
What the—” Reian hissed, glaring at his brother.
“You’re glitching again, bro,” Flame muttered with a smirk.
Reian quickly turned back to Silya, his face burning up.
“Uh, m-morning, Silya!”
Sorry for the late update, guys!
Completely missed my schedule on this one.
